my real book from berklee has it. learned this a couple months ago on giutar and found the most beautiful voicings for it maby ill respond to this with a vid or somthing
Hmm I'm a pianist also and I think this guy wants to impress the audience with his busy playing because he thinks that's the way you should play jazz. Message to him: Let the trumpetplayer do his thing, man! And shut the f*ck up!
hehe Toms my professor for music theory right now at Bates college, and I would have to say that he isnt trying to impress the audience. He just really gets into it. Really great guy, but a little on crack and when it comes to his playing hes over passionate, but I think that its part of what makes him awesome. Hes also used to playing with REALLY powerful saxaphonists and trumpets so i think hes used to playing with a large amount of power.
Arggh!! Flowery, busy pianist. Ruined it. Leave spaces. Say less, not more. Let this wonderful piece have room. You're consigning this jewel to a cocktail bar jingle.
Although i might agree with your statement about the pianist some people feel the music differently, I have been a jazz drummer for over 30 years and i have played my share of run down cocktail bars and my shares of carnagie halls. But once your at this level of jazz you cant be bad, you can be different but bad is not a vocabulary word in the jazz dictionary
Fear comment. I'm a pianist so I suppose I am a bit sensitive to the way blue in green is played. Yes the standard is good, agreed. But of all pieces this needs space.
I would tend to agree with you for this song but Im sure there are many many people out there who would agree with us. Im not criticizing you're comment I just wanted to make sure you understood what you were saying
Yeah it is kind of busy, i agree with you there. But you cant say it isnt good never the less (not that you were). The trumpet does well, retains his cool.
Great... and musical too, but too much vibrato on some of the upper notes of the head a dn others cut short ... loved the improvisation best of all ... would have enjoyed it more had you whipped out the mute so we could hear your tone (which sounded as though it would be beautiful)... the whole thing was performed with feeling and I congratulate you both
I think this is my favorite of your videos (perhaps because I love KIND OF BLUE so much, and "Blue in Green" is my favorite track on it), and Tom Snow's tasteful playing really supports your excellent sound. Terrific job!

shut the fuck up is a bit far but 90% of the right hand distracted from the performance.
He's not a bad pianist but he might as well save himself some work and help the performance at the same time

I think it sounds good. Maybe you're just an asswipe that doesn't know the first thing about jazz.
