@OnCloudNine62 Seriously? But Doctor Who was not created by one person! Some Canadian called Sydney Newnan, I think, came up with an educational time-travel show.
@borgduck Syd Newman...that's the man..and you are correct, he wasn't alone in it's creation. What unique shows though, compared to just about anything similar in the history of t.v., they are both in a class of their own.
Steed was a poncy fop - but oh, Mrs Peel. I can't tell you how many million teenage boys hearts skipped a beat when Mrs Peel came on screen. Of course that was a more innocent time, but what a beauty.
It is the day after the London riots, and I need a bit of civility. What better way to escape the distressing scenes on today's streets than with Steed and Emma and their good sense of decency and fair play.
That's what I call service with a smile. For anyone who hasn't caught up with the wonderfully quirky M-appeal episodes of The Avengers... this is as good as any place to start. One of the great Season 5 episodes with a sci-fi bent.

Am I complete pervert or does the expression "Emma has a close shave" feed anyone else's imagination?

The Avengers came between me and my homework every weekend. I used to end up scribbling it on Monday morning on the school bus.

This show has a Doctor Who-esque theme to it, especially with female conpanions & Steed being like the Doctor.

This was my Saturday night heaven in the 60's. Seven years old at me Gran's in Halifax watching this excellent show at 9pm in plush surroundings,

If there has ever been a more dapper dresser on TV than Steed, I've yet to see him.
I'd love to spend an idle day wending my merry way around Mackidockie court.
