  • Just how many fucking Cease and Desist orders is Square going to ISSUE TO DISAPPOINTED FANS?! How on earth can you attack your own fanbase unrelentlessly like that? Don't they realise this will damage their sales?! They did this to Chrono Ressurrection as well! They only care about milking out Final Fantasy sequels.. fuck them all!

  • I think of two things...

Either the game tries to run at 50Hz with a 60Hz NTSC version or you have to enable MTGS or whatever it's called.

  • Meh, Magus seems much more badass in Chrono Trigger than in Chrono Cross.

  • @kfijatass They originally meant for Magus to become Guile, but they never worked it into the story so they decided to make him a new character. When they re-released it the third time they decided to finally add a new ending where Magus loses his memory and begins to wander as Guile. For more info look for the video where the game creator is talking about it *eh lazy*

  • @kfijatass ugh, yeah I agree. I still have never played Chrono Cross because I just can't past the art style. I prefer Akira Toriyama's work for Chrono Trigger too much. Seeing Magus in this video only helps reinforce that. He looks terrible.

  • No offence, but I can tell that this was fan-made... The music is off quite a bit...

  • Are you using an Emulator to run this ISO on your PC of did you get the PS1 to play modified ISOs?

Also I looked around for Kjar Labs but I could only find your CT work, where are you guys hiding the CC?

  • @SirBlood1911 It's an emulator. I *think* I recall someone getting the patch to work on a physical modded PSX though.

Hmm, keep an eye on Romhacking(dot)net and Datacrystal over the next several months.

  • that song really should of been in the game its a masterpiece

  • why dosent he still weild a sythe?

  • Too bad you didn't mod it so he had Schala's necklace... xP

  • He seems slightly blue-er than I remember. Nonetheless, I second the happiness at seeing the Radical Dreamers back together again.

  • Hah, he was originally Guile.

  • yay,the Radical Dreamers all back together again! :D

  • Give me name of this soundtrack ;pp

  • @FearRPG Check out the video description for song names and sources.

  • Awesome mod. If I could get that running on my actual PS1 and not an emulator (no offense, but it was pretty damn laggy) I'd be set. I violated my own rule (don't buy a game more than once) and have been replaying Chrono Trigger on DS over and over recently. =P It just runs so much better than the PS1 port!

  • @greekperson0305 Probably my recording software and/or the processor I had at the time. The game should play perfectly well when you don't have a memory devouring program like CamStudio on at the same time. ;)

  • @FaustWolf Even if that's the case, my current (replacement) laptop can't really play anything for beans...

  • how do you know it's magus

  • haha i like it how tey put magus in this version

  • Comment removed

  • @raspberrymuffin Technically this would be an adaptation of Radical Dreams (a tie in game between Trigger and Cross) where Kis IS Magus' sister who was transformed into a baby...also Magus has amnesia until they kill the monster and is a "mysterious magician." This is more epic than any mod could ever be.

  • (: もちろん素晴らしい友人!

  • one of the best games EVER

  • Awesome video...I love it! I wish this was a real easter egg in the game. I also wish they would've kept Magus in CC; he's a very significant character to the storyline (I mean really, they're saving his sister at the very end of the game). Giving-up some of the allocatable characters would've worked just fine. I'd rather have less allocatables but with significant characters, rather than more characters and the removal of strongly significant ones.

    Thanks for posting!

  • Wow beautifully done, creative. Sorry to hear you guys were shut down and i'm surprised i never noticed chrono cross modding before.

  • so how did he do it, like did he edit it or somethign?

  • I must ask, what's the name and artist of this song used during the fight against the Time Devourer that you used?

  • @Moddex

That would be Dead Can Dance. Awesome, awesome New Age/Ethnic Fusion band. They've split up as of the late 1990s, but left a fantastic set of albums in their wake.

  • @FaustWolf Indeed they are. If you like their music, you should consider Dark Sanctuary and The Midnight Syndicate for added pleasure.

  • @BigBrotherWii I just discovered Dark Sanctuary last Fall, and I'll check out The Midnight Syndicate now that you mention them. See if you can track down a band named Arcana too -- they're just jaw droppingly awesome. It's a Swedish Neoclassical/New Age band on the Cold Meat Industries label. They should still be active too.

  • @FaustWolf I'll definitely look into Arcana. That does sound really promising. Oh and I wanted to add: Artesia. Arcana seems distinctively like Artesia.

  • what system is chrono cross for?

  • Sony Playstation. I'd love to see a PSP re-release but I'm not holding my breath.

  • @FaustWolf HAHA!! A re-release you can count on, But come on, it would be waaaayyyyyy better to see a legitimate sequel.

  • As it was last time, and even more so now, perfect editing for the music. Summoning of the Muse fits so well, even more so with the exact timing you used for it. It really highlights the despair felt within the Darkness Beyond TIme

  • Your music choice is REALLY impressive. And this is an excellent watch. :-) Kudos my good man.

  • That statement is so true. Although they do make great games.

  • Got a little lag in your emulation there ;)

  • You bet.

  • Emulation? Like...Epsxe Emulator?! I have one and you have astonishing graphics! I have like a NES quality on mine! Please do tell me your graphics plugins and settings if you´re using Epsxe

  • I'm pretty sure I was using psxfin at the time -- less setup work is required for it than ePSXe, so I've always favored psxfin for that reason. However, ePSXe has more bells and whistles.

  • psxfin...Huhn well it sure sound way better than epsxe seeing as I can´t put the GPU Plugin: FAG´S (Pete´s) FUCKING(lol) OPENGL 2 to work it always says it´s missing a bunch of stuff but thkx man...If you hadn´t told me earlier i´d be playing FFVIII: Nes style xD

  • Exactly. I mean come on, the mod here is literally reviving a party member and story that was removed from the final release of Chrono Trigger. Although some could argue that his story arc is still somewhat in there in bits a pieces.

  • it wouldn't make sense. they wanted Guile to me Magus but that didn't make any sense.

  • very cool mod,

    great music too

gotta write it down so i dont forget

  • Music gets kinda slowed but it's still cool!

  • hehe that would be cool if they did this is awesome

  • That blonde girl with the white clothes in the creature...IS IT NAMINE?? Rofl jkz...

Anyways, is this fight actually possible or was it all fake?

  • Not fake -- just a modification of the game. In the official game it is, of course, impossible, although I wouldn't be too surprised if Square Enix released a PSP version where exactly this happened.

  • Ohh, kk. I want this game on the PSP!! Right now, I'm only playing the PS1 version on the PSP...

  • Has anyone noticed? Whenever you win the race with that robot biker dude in Lab XX (forgot the number) in Chrono Trigger, you hear a fanfare music. That same music is using in Chrono Cross whenever you win a battle or get a new character.

    I just noticed!!

  • its site 16,the song is jonney and the robo gang, the race song is on the road

  • Rofl, kk.

  • I think its pretty unfair that Square won't allow ANY modding or fan games. Isn't the whole essence of modding the fact that you like the game so much that you want to make new original content for it?

  • It's their game, they can stop you from doing anything to it if they want. no use complaining about it.

  • wow great and epic :P thx for the video Faust

  • That music fits with Lavos, wished it actually had that in the game.

  • Damn it, First Chrono Trigger Resurection, then Crimson Echoes and now Kajar Laboratories, What problem is it with Square and the Chrono Series?!

BTW, perfect and suiting music for the Final Battle there

  • DUDE!! It's LAVOS!!!! I never got to that part in the game. That's AWESOME!!

  • one of the greatest RPG's for the PS ever. Needs to be put on the PSN or remade for the PS3.

  • you may very well see that in times to come, according to my friend theres some people at Sony thinking to do some very awesome things with the PS3, among those, releasing an official PS2 Emulator, and ALL PS1 and PS2 games to the PSN, my friend also said htey were even thinking about putting the Dreamcast and its games onto the PSN, if all this is indeed true, (and i do beleive my friend, he doesnt do rumors and stuff) then we will have alot of great stuff to come in the future

  • The musics of this game sounds absolutly fantastic, but for the gameplay it seems kinda boring. Well, I oughta get this for an emulator, because it does continue the story of its predecesor, right?

  • The gameplay's pretty good from the player's perspective, but I agree that it's not as much sheer fun to watch as Xenogears. Chrono Cross doesn't actually play that awesome music during the final final battle, but it nevertheless has a before-final-battle song that is awesome, called "Dragon God."

  • Thanks from the tip.

  • uuummm. the storys are completly diffrent, the only thing i recall is Chrono and his two girlfriends show up twords the end of the game for some random scene

  • Hey, FaustWolf, you should have let me handle Square Enix. A few ass kickings later and they would have seen the light and by that I also mean beating the shit out of their bodyguards, too.

  • Ah, seeing the revamped video makes me remember a better time... Does the mention of a touchup mean anything specific? Perhaps I should wait on patching the Cross .Bin files?

  • The current patch will stand for awhile since I'm focused elsewhere for the foreseeable future. I still have to figure out what caused the long status portrait to be transparent in some places. If it doesn't bug you, it should be perfectly playable for the time being.

  • NICE! Looks great ppl! But why'd you have to say the now defunct kajar labs..I knew that but It made me teh sads again D:

  • Kajar still exists, just not the modding aspect. Er, yeah...we have the memories at least.

  • beautiful music
