Think that absolute beauty of a right upper cut then strong left hook finish was an accident? or fluke? look at the louis vs billy conn second fight knockout. Louis was a knockout expert.
@marcxopoco Until the day I die,I'll believe nothing less than Ali thru that fight with Spinks so that he could come back and win the title a 3rd time. All the signals were there.
Nathan Mann was my Great Uncles brother. Natale Menchetti was his real name. It evokes great pride to know he had an opportunity for the title against such a legend in joe louis.
Wonderful.Always an honor to see Louis, particularly in title defenses. Louis never went easy on opponents.
Still, one will often hear about how technically sound & what a perfect style Louis had. But you can see here the low left, leaky defense for the right hand, the moving straight back away from the opponent. When purist critics see Ali breaking those kind of cardinal rules they get all apoplectic. But while Louis did not break these cardinal rules quite as blatantly, but he did break them.
Another truly fantastic brilliant performance from the "Brown Bomber".

90% of all heavyweights would have been kncoked out by that final left hook. Joe Louis could hit like a mule!

Thanks for that, A.
Mann gave Louis a fight.
Very few fighters went at Louis like that.
You could see Louis had been instructed to respect Mann's punching power.

Ali lost his title to a novice who had had seven professional fights. (Leon Spinks).

I don't know how some people can think Muhammad Ali could have been beat by Joe Louis.
