I lived in Nashville back in the mid-90's, and they did not have a good intro like this. They have done a good job with the music and graphics...probably in my top 5 I've ever seen. Good job News Channel 5.

Funny you mentioned that. At one time in November of last year, when it was rumored that WSMV would be going high-def with their news, WTVF dropped "and only" in their opens and promos. When that was proven as false, they went back to calling themselves "Tennessee's First and Only Local News in High Definition".

This a great news open. 615 really nailed it with Impact v5 and WTVF's graphics fit very well.

Just FYI, the turnover with graphic companies is usually pretty big. There have been a lot of instances where one of the main designers have jumped to another company. A main person from Hothaus jumped to Giant Octopus, which is why you see them "copying." They allow the designers to use the styles they created. It's not about copying off the other companies.

You are aware than Renderon, GO,..etc...design News Looks. Not high end branding for Nike,...not tv show opens,...not even national netwowk packages for US Networks! They design basic local news packages.

Not Impressed...very cheaply done I hope they didn't pay for that. If it was done in-house it's not a bad job. They typography is terrible and the chopper is cheap looking.

GO is the best when it comes to animation, which is needed here in 2008.

And props to them for making one of the best news opens, graphics package, set, and theme even in the news community. I know they did make the theme and set, ect...but they kicked some serious butt.

Two weeks ago, I just moved back from Chicago, my original hometown. I started watching web clips of WTVF footage about a year ago and also became homesick as the clips from the early 90s up 'til now made me think back to my elementary and high school days, looking at it in the morning before leaving home. Out of college as a graphic design majour, I'm submitting my resume to WTVF, using their font packaging for their logo and caption...

I moved away from Nashville two years ago, and just seeing Channel 5 on YouTube makes me homesick. They've been the best station in town for 20 years or so now, and with this HD conversion, they're showing no signs of letting up. The #1 rule about being #1 in the market is keep attacking the competition. Don't be complacent with your #1 position, and NewsChannel5 certainly isn't! Congrats WTVF!
