  • That wuz rlly gud :)

  • #SWAGG This Was Nice

  • Yall were fucking big as hell years back... haha not anymore

  • I hate it when people record drumlines from the side. The sound delay makes it sound a lot dirtier than it really is.

  • Those stick coordination's is some dirty shit

  • DcI is where it will always be.

  • 4 people are crackas lol

  • I like this

  • they should've done better in the movie drumline

  • Wish my drumline was black

  • @mountnooby LMAO mine is

  • tenors have a timbale groove!

  • The cleanest show band I've ever seen, yet still dirty as hell! Imma go watch some DCI.

  • @TheRyan909 You need to become a real student of music if this is the cleanest "show band" that you have ever seen and still managed to call this dirty.

  • @TheRyan909 havn't seen many hbcu drumlines huh. Imma go watch some million dollar funk squad!

  • they are mad relaxed lol

  • YES!

  • Great job !!!!!!!

  • lmao that boi at 1:04 say yall bois need to clean that shit up..he aint but i like the cadence tho....clean that shit up!!!!!!

  • Is that a problem @billy32g

  • is this an all black school?????? i dont see anybody thats white....

  • @billy32g this is a HBCU school. meaning Historicaly Black College and University which are prodominately black. most white people dont go to HBCU's. and this marching band isnt all black. i think have a couple hispanics somewhere in the hirnline or woodwinds.

  • Nice. They all were on point with everything.

  • They look like McDonald's workers :P

But this is an awesome drumline. <33

  • wow!! nice!!! i love it!

  • my highschool could use those dynasties, not these bafoons.

  • Honestly, this is pathetic. Makes any actually talented college drumlines look like shit. This isn't a drumline. UMASS at Amherst is a good college line. DCI is where its at not this crap

  • @itshawn dude this is showstyle they are made to entertain non musicians.

  • @itshawn DCI play one show from November thru August they should be clean as hell. In marching band we do 4 to 5 shows from Aug-Nov. Anyways this was the first performance of the year. Just like UMASS and DCI first show are always need improvement. Thanks for you comments!

  • man this bumpn.

  • LOVE IT!!

  • snares nice job

  • This is comin from a guy with corp style marching background. I'm sure most corps could do this playing with no problem, but let me ask you. What drum corp in the world could look this cool while playin that? Awesome college line here

  • how to you guys put the leg rest on dynasty drums i been wondering how to do that

  • As someone who doesn't give a shit about Corps or "Show" or whatever it is you guys call it~ you guys have to understand, from a layman's perspective... all of you are really skilled people. Fucking talent all around. I don't give three shits about "style" like I would prefer salsa over merengue or rap vs techno or whatever. It's all music. It's all rhythm. I'll complain about rhythm when I'm dead and can't move to it. You guys just keep playing.

  • @strikerk Good point, but it all comes down to what you are looking for. Entertainment and masssive amounts of groove, well thats the Show bands. Technique and overall badass-ness comes from the Corps. Show bands are best for the stands at games, and in parades. Where as Corps is best in the feild, marching. I come from corps and I enjoy a good show band but at the end of the day we are just part of another struggle, a fight that will exist forever between show and corps. I just try not to fight

  • @strikerk Amen.

  • @strikerk EXACTLY

  • i cant wait till i get on this level

  • id would love to join... but im not black!

  • @nuckalheads13 I hope you weren't alluding to them watching Drumline for inspiration. FYI Drumline was inspired by Marching Bands at HBCU's, not the other way around. This has been a part of African American colleges since they began. You ain't know? Now you do!

  • holy damn....thats a lot of snare drums!!!

  • YES! A show style band thats actually good! :D

  • I'm from Greensboro (where this is) and I can tell you that no drumline cares about the show. Only about swag, and backing it up in battles. Black = Swag ---- just sayin.

  • @mattsonaboat "black = swag" Where does this nonsense come from? Swag don't have ish to do with it! That's a whole new concept and this has been going on for almost a century. You can go back to the jazz marching bands in New Orleans to see where this has evolved from. To articulate it better we took the standard Euro style marching band and niced it up our own way. :)

  • they saw that movie too many times

  • i like this drumline alot

  • Awesome! I love the basses at the end

  • nice beats!

  • Im not sure which show bands people have watching, but don't let them be a generalization. Most "show bands" actually care about there techniques

  • @startingQB Wrong.

  • @startingQB finally! someone says it! thanks bruh Lol

  • Ich begoglen unt schteimer vegloin

  • i love this cadence

  • damn.. that was pretty fuckin clean for a show band.. holy shit i didnt know that could actually happen

  • @finemusician10 Look up NSU's Drumline MDFS and Bethune Cookman's Drumline and trust me, you'll see a clean show band...even cleaner than this

  • wow, they accually have good technique...good job guys.

  • for a show corps, im truly rockin this

  • Comment removed

  • Where we're you all when they made the movie DRUM LINE ?????? That movie set Druming back 20 years .... LOL

  • very clean, very impressed

  • pika das varize

  • 123theater you must havent head war and thunder they are waaaay cleaner than them

  • Good Job!

  • feríssimo veio

  • This is clean as hell.

  • Hands down...GREAT JOB!

  • cadence be groven we play it in norfolk V.A.

  • by far......BEST showline i've EVER seen! sweet stuff! ALMOST very clean! keep that standard up and keep working guys! DEFINITELY good stuff right here

  • very nice

  • yall are the smoothest drumline i no and yall dont play lound to make a statement big ups to yall drum instructor

  • woah show band not using remos =o

  • I like 0:10 its so simply but PHAT. Cool stuff

  • Yall snare line iz to sharp i hope the high school band im in get them snares

  • damn dis go hard

  • they killed it hard

  • what is dis cadence called?

  • they must study norfolk state alot because damn if they ain't stealing from them. you expect highschools to take from a college, but not a college taking from another college

  • @jillion22 WAT DA HALE?!?!?! studying norfolk?!?!?! this is not something they play so get ya damn facts straight not a damn piece of music come from norfolk i should know cause i write the damn music and i come from Black Fire so if anything it would be more Black Fire influenced than norfolk just cause our instructor came from norfolk dont mean we wanna play they sh!t i have respect for them but they just another drumline to me we got our own identity over here at smith....

  • Coming from a member of a drum corps... the movie "Drumline" is a disgrace to show style lines. This is actually good. A little dirty, but you're playing notes, and not too poorly either. This is a huge eye opener.

  • Thanks alot man. That was our first performance of the year.

  • honestly...I cant even lie...that sounded real good. I like dem snare drumz

  • Why do they sound like Norfolk?

  • Because we don't have thunder basses and leg/chest tenor maybe.

  • I disagree 300% stick control. you guys sound good i think that you bois should give em a lil more hybrids like more inverts, flashy sticking and allusions or visuals but over all your snare line is very nice as far as stick height and clean crisp sound yall fire. but remeber what i said about them rudiments and to flip them hoes. Me personally i think Norfolk has fallen off since the 90's like The Box has fell off since 04 so keep it up.

  • I understand what you are saying. However we already do what you said. Check out JCSU at warren county or johnson C. Smith drumline snare solo @ A&T.

  • lol at their instructor "You gotta clean that shit up"

although it had a little dirt, it was pretty damn clean, great job.

  • naw that was A&T alumni talkin mess during the cadence

  • serious cadence could've added a lil more to it but awesome

  • this reminds me of my highschool drumline great job guys

  • @dellabrook ur highschool drumline was all black

  • @dellabrook Dang you highschool Must've had a tight band if they played like that haha

  • Look up albany state univ. drumline

  • what college is this

  • Johnson C. Smith university...we in charlotte ,nc

  • yall niggas are clean i play bass at shaw and i gotta give propes where they are due real talk!!!

  • i dont know if any1 caught dis or not but their instructor tells them to clean it up 1:01 the snare line is dirty but the killed that cadence AKA bdgroove

  • WOW!!! I hate show bands drumlines becuase they arent clean but uh....I hate to admit it. This is the cleanest one Ive seen so far.

  • Lol so true. Way cleaner than any from the movie.

  • u needa watch norfolk state then....dem niggas is mad clean...especially at the band brawl against A&T

  • look up norfolk state too

  • @123theater1 have you ever see nsu from va what happen a show band came to your school and blow on yall right ya i now right well i go to jsu look it up need i say anymore

  • @123theater1 lol i agree completely but still someone at 1:02 someone yells ya'll need to clean that shit up! lol!!!

  • @123theater1 search norfolk state-MDFS... i would say this drumline is the cleanest HBCU's have to offer but JCSU is very clean as well

  • @123theater1 U should look up Jackson State's War and Thunder....Type in JSU WT solo cadence....

  • @123theater1 yea u just gota luk for em lol NSU(mdfs) n BCU(sudden impact) r pretty decent, mdfs in particular, they play DITTY lol shocked me, its just slow wit a lil show funk to it u kno

  • @123theater1 dude if you want clean look at South Carolina State university drumline, Norfolk state drumline, and Virginia state drumline and Clarck Atlanta drumline that is clean. and besides showstyle lines are made to entertain the crowd. if its good enough for the crowd to enjoy then that is all that matters to them. their competitions arenot strict like DCi competitions are.

  • @123theater1 U should look up NSU's drumline MDFS and im positive that they'll change your opinion

  • @123theater1 sadly it was still not that clean

  • @123theater1 look at NSU

  • @123theater1 Norfolk State University Drumline are very very great. Check them out. However; this Drumline is very ggod , and it is nice to see and hear a Drumline from a HBCU play this great. KUDO to the JCSMU Drumline....

  • @123theater1 then you must not look at many showstyles in person... DOA, Cold Steel, (whatever WSSU's line is named), all cleaner than JCSU

  • @123theater1 all show style drumlines arenot dirty. check out nsu, bcu, nccu, texas southern, scsu. check their 2010 lines

  • @123theater1 then must not have heard of the million dollar funk squad of NSU, you want clean they got it. the only college band drumline in history to be invited and to perform at the international tattoo percussion festival

  • @123theater1 look up D.O.A NCCU thats one of the cleanest drumlines i've seen

  • @123theater1 also in HBCU's they are not called show bands they are called traditional bands. as well not all HBCU drumlines are dirty. in fact most of them are pretty clean. it may not be drum corps perfection but it is still clean. also in HBCU bands you have to maintane a certain grade point avaerage to even stay in the band so therefore the band directors dont really stress them too much like corps style bands do about being perfect but they still push them to do their best

  • so what is so wrong with makin a cadence slightly street or "hood" as you call it?

  • is there any sheet music to this?

  • Pretty cool. Nice rudiments. HOWEVER, THERE IS NO BEST DRUMLINE IN THE WORLD!!! ONLY GOOD ASS MUSICIANS.

  • FINALLY! A video of a drum line that doesn't make me want to barf. Other than the stupid, hood wannabe break at 1:17, this cadence was nice.

  • ok im not into drums like that but that SHIT WUZ 2 SWEET GOOD JOB!!!!

  • a & t is the best drumline in the world

  • There gets to be a point where opinions are just flat out wrong.

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • NOT!!!!

  • hell no

  • theres more than one a&t

  • this is a really good mix of show and corps.

The difficulties there, and the tonal basses. But there is a fun element to it when you guys play it.

    Great Job!

  • snares are pretty clean quints are not so good. basses are right on it

  • dirty....but great for a performance band...i respect them because they areactually playing with good technique...instead of flopping around everywhere

  • Sigh, makes me miss marching band even more. :( Best time of my life.

  • I... love... you.

  • what kind of snares are those?

  • Dynasty.

  • Dynastys.. Like The Blue Devils Have..

  • not anymore

  • Wht Drums They Have NOW ?

  • Pearl

  • @Spotlite2Hott Not anymore

  • damn this is actually very clean for show style

  • A little dirty, but NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is probably the cleanest marching band ive seen

  • Then you haven't seen very many marching bands dude. Plus you weren't looking at the marching band you were looking at the drumline. Check out UNT. They're pretty tight.

  • i checked out UNT, very cool

  • why is a ciaa school playin' a school in the meac?

  • yeah tjmac17...this makes me wanna think about goin there

  • Comment removed

  • i like this band im from bahamas and i no about this band they rock

  • i think this is a rele good combanation of corps style music and black music, this is tight =]

  • Nice I like the groove.

  • yall niggaz go hard look forward to battling yall when yall play SHAW!!!!!

  • Glad to see ya'll representing rudimental percussion at a black college. Some people don't think our lines can play like that. (DCI) people in particular.

  • DCI playing rudiments?

    You're kidding me (LOL)!

I'm a rudimental drummer, and I think you guys have got both the right technique and the groove! Keep up the good work!

  • this is the cleanest drumline i've heard so far from east coast

  • check out norfolk state univesity's drumline...(mdfs...or Million Dollar Funk Squad)...jcsu is great but i think norfokl is even better....jcsu is going to get even more better in the future though...

  • bad mamajamazzzzz

  • man this a good line just get ur numbers up for the rest of the band get some woodwinds to take away some of that brassy sound this will be something to mess wit

  • tight!!!!!!OUCH!!!! YES!!! yall sounded good

  • lovin dis snare line..keep it up!

  • U A GOT DAMN LIE!

    COLD STEEL

    F.A.O.D

  • superb snare line. but the cymbals rock!

  • thanks

  • AT&T?

  • A&T university... you know... drumline the movie? this is them

  • wtf, your facts are incorrect.

  • actually da mivie drumline wuz based off NC A&T St. University

  • actually southwest dekalb high school band were most of the band me,bers in that movie

  • Actully KG2BALLA11 the movie was based off of the "Often Imitated...Never Duplicated Blue & Gold Marching MAAAAAAAAAACHIIIIIIIIINE" HAHA

It doesn't matter if sothwest dekalb high or salute my shorts high band members were in the movie the point is NC A&T SU Blue & Gold Marching Machine (mainly the men and women of COOOOOOOLD STEEEEEEEL) were represented.

  • you guys have a excellent snareline. good technique. Great Skill and it was very clean!!

  • thank you for showing me that a show band drum line can groove during a cadence and play clean! very impressed guys. keep it up
