Wow... We only got a dusting in south eastern Oklahoma... but that February we got a lot more... about 8 inches in Hugo... and where I am going to school in Commerce Texas we got a foot... Dallas got a similar 14 inches. We had several snow events last year... one crazy fun winter!
i live in oklahoma city, OK and this was CRAZY! my drive way had a 4 foot high snow drift! so many car accidents, deaths, stranded cars. it was all just sad and crazy. i live in the south east side and this artic blast we are haveing today january 7th is SOO cold.
Did you know there's a city in Canada (White Rock) that NORMALLY enjoys milder winters than Oklahoma City? After accounting for wind chill, it is MUCH milder than Oklahoma City. You'd notice the difference- trust me! Surprised?
Yes OKC does have snow plows, the wind 40,50,60 MPH was the real issue for why most people left cars and trucks stranded. The snow came in on the back side of sleet and rain underneath all the snow was about 1/2 of ice plus white out conditions I think the state tried to keep up with the storm but obviously a lot of people didn't listen or thought they could reach home or families homes before the storm really hit.
your lucky if they have a grader for this.

Yes, 14.1 inches officially at the airport weather station. My front yeard measured 12 inches with a snow drift on side of home 18 inches deep.

I'm surprised to see cars abandoned in the middle of what looks like a large intersection. Does OKC not have a lot of snow removal equipment?

did you really get over a foot of snow?

Not for snow storms like this. Most winters we see maybe 1-2" at most. some winters nothing. 14inches is just crazy for OKC.
