Great Song - poppy but experimental / progressive at the same time. A bit too complex for the masses I guess. Unbelievable playing at germans ROCKPALAST with so few listeners..
@karlbasel Yes, i agree on the poppy/proggy and there's also a "Talking Heads" kind of influence. The problem was the identity of the band with 2 singers. With one ok singer ( Ferg Harper ) and one excellent singer ( Steve Hogarth ).
My favourite track by The Europeans! They did a great set on the Tube in the eighties and I managed to see them play live in Swansea. Had a single autographed by the band backstage too. Great band and thanks for posting
amazing - I've just found my copy of the band's demo tape before they had a record deal (seems like I never throw anything out!) 4 tracks on the cassette - Trend On Trend; Drink Pink Zinc; Tokyo; Why Did You Have To Go To School?
OMG - this takes me back. To about 1981. The band used to play gigs at the pub I worked at, in Maidstone. This was one of the numbers they used to play then, along with Why did you have to go to school? and Drink pink zinc. Can't remember any more though - they were nice guys, as I remember the singer was a bit concerned how his mum back home in Scotland would react when she found out he'd bleached his hair! Happy days...
Oh my god¡¡ Steve Hogarth??? H¿? ;-) really good and very young face¡¡¡

Fuck sake I haven't heard this record since the early 80's and I own a copy.
The piano sound live is second to none.
