  • how do u record voice in reason?

  • @KOMOOX im pretty sure u cant unless you have reason record...he probably recorded it and had it ready before the tutorial using another program

  • i didnt learn anything from this. all i want is a simple tutorial on how to create an auto tuned effect in reason 4 so i can record my voice in autotune for my project in my music and media class, about auto-tuners. oh well i guess ill just have to slap some filthy dubstep in there instead.....

  • first 1:50 wasted time, simply put.

  • thanks man you saved my life...it was so logical and yet I couldn't find the solution:))oh well...I guess I'm stupid. Thanks again for this post!!

  • have u used that beat that u have in dis episode?msg me n let me kno

  • can't see at all :( the screen too small

  • Great tutorial. thanks

  • thanks for this tut! (russia)

  • Well done video but I cannot hear the signal. I see the vocorder's meter getting audio but no sound?

  • @calebcosm26 you need to press a key on your keyboard

  • tutorials from the hood.... lol

    Thank you, good job.

  • yo i did exactly what you said to do and i can see the meter reading on the vocoder but i still dont get any sound back out of it what im i doing wrong?

  • you should add some unision

  • awesome video bro!

  • this tutotial is from the hood. lol

  • Respect homie! I got it now! Thats awesome. And By the Way the Video was fine. just because we are audio people doesn't mean we need to have all the visual stuff =p! Good job man!

  • and you even said in the video that the loop wont play it you play it by itself cuz its hooked up to the vocoder but then immediatley after it does play. very confusing

  • lol i tried this, but when i played the malstrom to trigger the modulation on the recorded track its not really audible or clear like yours... :( did you keep the malstrom on initial patch for the end part of your video? howd you get that voice effect? i really wanna be able to do this and i watched your video like 100 times to try and figure it out but i think your video editing cut alot out

  • theres no tune to ure voice after vocode how does tht fix

  • thanks man.respect

  • Very helpful tutorial.. Thanks!

  • Great video...can you hook up the vocoder to Dr. Rex?

I had a vocal I cut up in Recycle through it in Dr. Rex..the opened the Malstrom..like in the video...tried to run the modulator out to vocoder in and it wouldn't do it.....anyone know why?

    Thx,

    Juze

  • i dig it. your vocal sounds better than the vocoder. maybe layer the vocoded signal a bit in the background of your vocal. dig your stuff.

  • hi, this is cool..how can I get a vocoder without putting viruses in my computer...please help me

  • don't be cheap, buy one instead of stealing it.

  • dat was a great tut dude, can anyone tell me where i can find dat vocoder plug-in?

  • your a dick'ed

  • They can do exactly the same, however Reason is more powerfull sometimes.

AND Reason is low-latency - FL is not.

I'm using both sofwares - so I'm not a fanboy of one of them :) Like both.

  • I agree I use both as well. FL is user friendly you can just jump in and do anything you want. Reason is low latency use very little processors, It has more sounds and seems easier to make an industry beat. But at times can get frustrating for beginners. I use both for different projects and styles. I mainly use FL for most of my drums and sample based music. The MPC1000 is a beast as well but without all the FXs.

  • Dude! You are awesome, thank you so much!

  • This would be a good tutorial, if, and only IF, you stopped trying to push your music on me. I just wanted to figure out how to use the vocoder. Instead I was assaulted. Nice job. Hang yourself.

  • Perhaps you should hang yourself. The man was just trying to teach you some shit. Sure he may have pushed his music a little but ya know what? Thats brilliant. I didnt know who he was until I watched the video and now I do

  • Could u connect a mic to reason

  • no reason is for midi only

  • theres suposed to be a program called propellerhead record coming out that works directly with reason to allow you to do so right now it is available as a beta on thier website

  • thanks for the heads up on the beta testing

  • how does he got te reason full screen?

  • its not full screen, he has the toolbar view up next to the rack.

  • ZAPPP!!!

  • thxs bro, I was really wondering how to make work the vocoder, I still cant make it sound as modulated as u do, but I guess it has to do with the sound you choose in maelstrom

    thxs again

  • this guy is sick

  • Thank You

  • help help help. FUCKIN' HELP!!!!!

  • MAN I AM FUCKIN' LOST!!!

  • man I am stumped. when I load the sample then initialize it the sample vanishes. can you talk more about how to bring the sample patch in?

  • lol, Initializing a sample is when you erase the sample and start fro scratch lol so thats the problem, you initilize first (if you have a.d.d. and you feel like it needs to be done) so you really only need to load the sample

  • ive got a vocoder in my helmet

  • me too, sounds great when my girlfriend talks into my helmet

  • lOVE THE INTRO (ON MOTORBIKE) LOVE THE SCRIPT, YOU HAVE TALENT. eMAIL ME AND LET'S TALK BUSINESS.

  • lol

  • feedback; excellent tutorial, but tose that gaming intro, its just fluff, and you have too much substance to have that fluff.

The hood is putting out some sweet tutorials, you know your equipment. thanks for sharing..

  • i get the hooking up of the vocoder to the malstrom and stuff, but what i don't get is how u get your vocals into an nn-xt/nn19 or so whatever, please explain

  • if u want vocs in nn-xt i fink u need to init patch then in the top load sample box that were u load it not in the bottom 1

  • umm, you put it in wav. format. and in the nn19 you go to browse sample and voila!

  • such a great help...pls keep em coming

  • great tutorial !

  • I can't figure out what you pressed to make you vocal come up on your screen. I almost have it though thanks for posting this video it's good stuff for us new reason users.

  • which sample are you using in the malstorm???pls help....amazing work, amazing intro...great work

  • I have a problem, i am using Audacity to convert my files and i can get them into reason using the NN-XT but i cant figure out how to get them into the song and get them to work with the vocoder and no one will help me, please someone suggest something, i'm stressing out. thanx

  • you should try ishowu for screen capture if your a mac dude.. lets you choose resolution and makes quicktime movies for you..

  • very informative im a veteran with reasons and i never used it thanx!!!!!

  • What do you connect what? I dont get where you connected the malstrom cords

  • Good intro lol.

  • How did you record the samples?

  • completely disagree with "the more programs you use the better".

Not saying stay limited to one program, but why stay limited to software only? Pointless.

Its not what programs you use, but what your extent of knowledge about music production goes.

In my audio tech training sessions there were three books that gave you a nice start to production. Sound reinforcement handbook, modern recording techniques, and the audio dictionary.

  • thanks mate!!

ive been wondering how reason's vocoder works like for ever

    VERY USEFUL; THANKS!!

  • nice vid ....but when I follow it im left with an nn19 that isnt connected to anything but the mixer. You were about to explain it but then you started doing chords

  • same problem

  • amazing video and vocals !

  • Thanks for the demo.

  • Nice, It's much easier with fl studio though

  • and fruityloops is one of the most pathetic piece of software available.

  • Well that's your opinion BTW I wasn't slaming Reason I use it as well it's just that some things are easier to apply on other programs sticking to one program won't help your production skills, the more programs you use the better

  • @systembail you got it :)

  • @systembail

every software has its use, on the past fruitloops introduced a good logic to build music in blocks, and today it still can be used for this, some professional producers uses reason synths, export in blocks and create the whole harmonic using fruitloops... and we cannot forget, fruitloops was before even before the fantastic reason get it place, on my opinion, it's not only the tool who makes the great artist, but the artist whatever the tool he has.. =)

  • @systembail I Strongly disagree there Fruity loops does have a Vocoder in case that is why you think it sucks. Also if you really get good and learn how 2 use all of FL i can be just as good as a song made in reason it just depends on the person making the song. Check out Feed Me he makes most of his music in FL and it may not be the music you like but just hear what can be made with it!

and fruityloops is one of the harder pieces of Software available.

  • he does use talkbox lol

  • simply put- THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

  • that was bomb...i just started out make'n beats n this helps me out alot!i love it though!keep it come'n!

  • the game in the beginning is halo 3

  • what game is that?

  • game... this isn't a game at all. It's software

  • wrong, it is a game. it's halo 3. even says so in the credits.

  • I think Dextizzle meant the software what the video is about not the intro movie which has a little part of halo 3 in it...

  • Its called Reason

  • do u have xbox live if so whats ur gamertag??

  • what preset did you use on the malstrom? i cant get my vocals to come out clearly.. it just sounds like a tinny instrument.

  • i'm having the same problem. i can't hear anything

  • nevermind. its there but its realllllly quiet.

  • im not diong something right. after i route everything i dont hear my sample or the synth. what do i do?

  • Hey yo, it might be early days, and I don't want to come accross all 'fan boy', but dilio, you're on some Timbaland-type shiznit, homie! I've just checked out this vocoder gig, now I'm going to go back in your arsenal and see if I can do some bad-bad beats using the knowledge you're dropping. Keep it flowing homie. UK in the heazy.

  • This Dilliot2k is quality this stuff is like a godsend. ive got this equiptment at home and need to start making tunes to this standard. That is some trend setting stuff. The production the idea everything about that tune was sick. I reckon your gonna go far in this game, if your not already there. inspiring stuff

  • YES!....keep this vid up..i've been wanting to learn this

  • dilliot do you know anything that is like this software that will run with GarageBand on a Mac?

  • I don't know if it will run on garage band, but it does work on mac.

  • tnx for replying love your music and remixes

  • thats mad tight u got skills

  • u got skills bro...i was jus talkin to my boy about tryin to learn this stuff

  • great work and keep up tha work i just subscribed. -song would be a hit with the normal vocals, great voice, amazing talent.keep the vids coming.

    - Dj LiVe

  • so can you get that t pain sound out of reason vocoder or just that robotnik sound out of it,,or both?and how much do like and how often do you use reason?..good info

  • how do you get your vocals to play on each key on your keyboard like that?

  • I loaded my vocal as a sample on the NN:19 sampler. Once you do that, you just play a note and it will trigger that sample.

  • oh ok that's tight.

  • i'm really feelin the beard dillio. sorry i got a little distracted.... great tutorial =)

  • :) thanks!

  • Yo.... Geart tutorial.... That intro?

Explain that? is that you animating the dude on the two wheeler??

Man I need to sit down and kick it wit you.

    Are you producing any artist??

    You got skills J.

  • Cool tutorial man and i agree with JeffMoor, the song sounds better without the vocoder, keep it up.

  • wow, nice song but if u were to release the song u should do it without the vocoder, it could be a hit!

  • omg i love the intro the voice is so cool :D

  • the song was a loop from FL studio huh?!?!?!

  • yeah I made in fruity loops , its a song I haven't finished yet.

  • its tight work though
