@larsreal9 : I agree. Actors who continuously do this appear onesided. I used to think of that when I'd see Denzel Washington. He blew mind when he was Training Day, American Gangster, and now his latest movie. When an actor can play tye hero and the villain he's a more cpmplete actor in my opinion. When Kevin Costner and other actors like him finally undetstands that they might start getting decent roles instead of some idiot in Waterworld. ht ge
I actually haven't seen this movie but just seeing this video, Morgan Freemen really stole the show away from Christopher Reeves in this scene. It makes me want to see the whole movie.
This is Morgan Freeman's best performance and he would of won an Oscar in 1987 for best supporting actor if he didn't have to compete with Sean Connery who eventually won for The Untouchables. It's still a riveting performance as Fast Black. Morgan Freeman continues to be one of the greatest actors of our generation.
The dude at 5:53, with the stupid sunglasses, is the guy who plays moses on the series oz.. he was also a detective on the series dexter. on both shows, he was murdered.
I deal is.... if you've followed his career at all, you should be able to see Morgan as an ANYTHING... he's got that kind of range.... this is the first feature film I ever saw him in (1987) and believe me, he's very believable! And as just an overall bad-ass, check it out for yourself... along with Hard Rain, Johnny Handsome and Thick a Thieves, aka "The Code". The man is a Master
I'm not saying he can't perform as a pimp nor be believable as such but he has a tendency to play the more noble, wise and upstanding types...good men albeit good men who probably have made many a mistake. He's one of if not our best actor(s), I've never seen this movie but as soon as I heard of it it went on my Netflix because I'll assume even if the movie's not good he'll be excellent. As for my Chistopher Reeve comment, it's a reference to Clark Kent aka Superman.
this was earlier in Morgan Freeman's career when he was playing more odd types - as a con in Brubaker and ex-junkie motivational rehab worker in Clean & Sober. I think Driving Miss Daisy might've been the beginning of his career of playing the noble parts.
I can't believe this is the selfsame Morgan Freeman who narrated March of the Penguins! LOL what if he flipped out like that while he was narrating something?
I never heard of this movie when it came out... just happened to be a video store and saw it on the shelf and went like "hey, here's a movie with that guy from the Electric Company"... needless to say after watching it, I was thrilled to have made the "discovery".
