very strange interpretation. i mean rhytmically . doesn't preserve the feeling of habanera or spanish rhtyms at all. much too freely and odd phrazing, with all those long rests... dont shoot, it's just my opinion
wow! This is very well played and being a guitarist for 30yrs now, I can tell you that I have never seen La Paloma played better on the classical guitar. I saw him play Concierto de Aranjuez and was also blown away with not just how fast he is but how musical he is. reminds
I am 76 yrs old and remember hearing this song sung by my aunt when I was just a kid of about 8rys old. I don't care who signs it or about technical issues.. the song evokes beautiful memories of my youth. The lyrics are powerful and I feel sorry for people who can't appreciate wht songs can mean to people.
@meteor2012able I am younger than you... 75 years old. Streams of memories come back as I listen to this piece. My mother used to sing it and so did the older generation. She sang it in French and the verses are quite evocative.... the deceased loved one, the white dove.
Although it's not entirely splendid, I have to credit Romero for playing two tunes at the same time. Which I believe is like playing the strings with two brains.
Average and stilted. Looks like he is paralyzed. The whole thing is played without emotion-it is dry beyond belief. Are you people simply taken by the Romero name?
This is one of those pieces and renditions that absolutely makes me want to take a nap. Uninteresting both harmonically and interpretively.
Your problem is that you have no Love in your life and to really understand this song, you need love. Poor you, sounds like you have been paralized in your life but hopefully you bounce back and become happy once again. Try and rest up more and be kind to others.Next time you can't go to sleep then listen to La Paloma!!
I just herd him play in concert in New York with Romero Quartet and was totally blown away by him!! wow what a player with a huge sound and amazing fingers. I have to say that that night he was my favorite in the group just dazzled the crowd at the 92nd st Y. Keep the Romeros alive Kid!!!
I am really sorry. Normally, I will agree that everyone has his/her own opinion. But calling his playing "mechanical" is just not acceptable. If this comment comes from his father or even his grandfather (sadly passed away few years back), I will not dispute. Your comment is like calling Einstein's theory of relativity no more than waffling! If you say, "I prefer it to be a bit quicker", I would understand. Calling his playing "mechanical" is quite extraordinarily ignorant!
I just bought Celino's Guitar method "The Art of Spanish Guitar" I'm sure he has alot of great suggestions since he did learn from Celedonio,Celin,Pepe and Angel some pretty great teachers.
Wonderful music, one of my favorite pieces. I know it was a tradition for your grandfather to play this, and you do it beautifully. I am trying to learn it, and shall keep trying as long as it takes
I have been looking for this song for awhile and it is good to hear it again for I have not listned to it since the passing of one of my close relatives. Good Job and Five Stars!
Nice playing Celino. Who made your guitar? I have a Ramirez student model, but nobody told me about the humidity issue. I live in bone-dry Phoenix AZ and haven't opened that guitar case in couple of years. It probably looks like a donut:-( Well, keep playing! -Tom
these Guitars are hand made and expensive , I live 2 hours away from Paracho Mexico where the finest Hand made Guitars are built ,I know some of best builders like Salvador Castillo and can get what ever type You want
Paracho has a few world-class luthiers and many bad ones. I don't know where they get the idea that they make the best. Garcia, Rubio, and the escobedos make great guitars (rubio's in LA now) but, that's it. Madrid, Granada, Munich and other places in France might make such a claim and have a chance of having it stick but not Paracho.
Actually I think it is wonderful. Clean beautiful sound, the rhythm is amazing. Such composure. Such elegance. I think it is a very very good performance. Excellent. Thanks for showing it.
La Paloma, can you play it this nice? Try, it's not that easy.... He does it as good as I have ever seen it done. Keep your ears out for this Romero. He is soooo F...ing talented!
Listen to the original, maybe you will change your mind...not everything is suppose to sound as you think it should and just because you didn't like it, does not mean it wasn't good. Don't be so negative and closed-minded.
I went to school with Celino and Lito, great guys. I remember being a young kid and Lito's dad Angel and his brother played for us at school this happend two or three times, of course I was just a kid enjoying the music and had no idea as to what a special treat this really was.
