Gmaj7 is G D F# and G chord is G B D

Notes he used are: (from the lowest string) G B D G D G - conclude yourself, please.

We must remember that both major and minor chords are formed of just three intervals:

unison, Major/minor third (depends on mode) and perfect fifth. Any repeated notes are just octaves (or unisons). So, in that case, chord this guy played was almost identical with the basic G chord - with second D instead of B

@sUiSid3 are you a first time tuner? be careful you didnt tune your guitar upside down, i know it sounds dumb but it can cause strings to break very quick and easy if you did. the first 2 or 3 times my friend tuned her guitar she did it upside down until my music teacher pointed it out. Its a common thing people do mixing up the strings when fist starting out.

i don't understand something, when he does the D he gets the root note and all the strings he has fingered with his left hand, but then when he does the G he gets the root note on the 6th string but he has a finger down on the 5th string with his left hand even tho he doesn't play it, is he just doing that to make it simpler or is that how most would play it finger picking?

He is just pressing the G chord. Its easier to just put down all your fingers instead of leaving that one off.

Some chords will still sound right even if you finger pick not every single string. For example, to do the F chord you have to press a fret on all 6 strings, but you can fingerpick any 3 strigns and it will stil lsound correct.

im actually a little unsure about reading the fingerpicking tab. if there's a long line in between the numbers like: 3-------0 does that mean i have to pluck them at the same time? can anyone tell me

Yeap. It requires a little more practice and technique. But its just using two finger on the left hand simultaneously.... Just keep practicing. Hope This helped.

A good example are Metallicas "Nothing else matters" and Led Zeppelins "Stairway to heaven". Sometimes the pluck 3 notes at a time... Scary. XD. Scary but not impossible...
