It is absurd to claim that the Ataturk model of a secular republic which the Turkish government claims to represent would want to overthrow another secular republic, the Baath regime of Assad's Syria and help install a fundamentalist Islamic perversion (created by Western intelligence) in it's place. Turkey appears to be simply following orders from NATO without any genuine independent policy. Turkey made a mistake with Libya and appears to be following the same path with Syria. Enter Iran.....

Nobody can honestly claim that the overthrow of Assad's Baath regime would be in the interest of the State of Israel. Israel is much better off maintaining the stability of the current arrangement with Syria, rather than risking a fundamentalist islamist regime put in power by NATO. The Baath regime is a secular socialist system which keeps fundamentalism in check. Israel needs to rethink who it's friends are because somebody is maneuvering both sides towards a final conflict.

It would be logical to pursue peaceful coexistence and mutual respect with your neighbors and not base your security on a far away so-called superpower that is bankrupt. Peace is security; war is not.
