Not to be a downer but I saw nothing to set that apart from any other song. If not for the comments I wouldn't have known there was anything "special" about this song...
Oh my goodness. I still to this day watch this video and think we were there the weekend before everything happened for their competion......forever in our thoughts and prayers in Picayune's Tidal Rave
Every time I watch this I cry. I went to CJHS and sang at my school when it hit. I was only in 7th grade and this year I'm a senior. May none of us ever forget that day! I miss you AJ and Ryan an Mikey sooo much! 3/01/07
this is beautiful. and the meaning behind it makes it even more inspiring and lovely. my heart goes out to the people who were affected by this tragedy, but being able to express yourself like this through music is completely amazing. it gets your message out to everyone. and i know the people who were killed or injured would be so proud.
WOW!!!!!!! I was in show choir all my middle school and high school and the passion that you guys had was just so strong that you can feel it through the screen. I graduated in 05, my best friend was brutally murdered by her boyfriend. We sung the song "Still I Rise" and the same thing happen. WE couldnt even get through the song. That song reminded me of my best friend. I still love her very much.
I graduated that year. Nina (the soloist) was amazing. We still miss everyone who died that day (3-1-07)but there's no doubt in our minds that we will see them again!! Long live Enterprise High School!! Forever a Wildcat!!!
A.J. Jackson, Mikey Tompkins, and Ryan Mohler. (I was in concert choir, not Encores, but they were all friends of mine.) All three were killed that horrible day. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about them and the others that died that day. And it's almost been two years. 3-1-07: We will never forget.
The other students that died were: Jamie Vadensik, Michael Bowen, Peter Dunn, Katie Strunk, and Michelle Wilson. One other elderly woman in our town died that day as well- Ms. Edna Strickland. And she happened to be my cousin.
The tornado started over by my house. Ms. Strickland was by her window when the wind broke it and a piece of glass cut an artery in her leg. She bled to death. The tonado then went on a path of distruction across town, eventually hitting Enterprise High School head on. It jumped up, then landed in the middle of Third Hall, where the walls fell in on the 8 students. Some survived the initial impact, but when the ceiling collapsed, they died immediately by being crushed to death.
This Sunday, March 1st, 2009, will be the two year anniversary of this tragedy. The community is meeting in the football stadium to hold a candlelight vigil at 7 pm in honor of their memory.
Thanks for sharing that info. I stumbled upon this video and wasn't really sure of the story, although I had heard of the tornado that hit Enterprise.
One of the judges at this performance is the choir director at Elmhurst College. I remember hearing about this last year...it's legendary to the Concert Choir members. Sooooooo touching.
I think we made them proud. Our Encores family will never be complete with out them. Its almost been a year since the last time we performed on stage together. I still remember the feeling.
I get chills every time I watch them grab hands. It's like watching a big loving family perform onstage. Such a passionate performance. I'm so glad this is on YouTube. Their story is very sad and tragic, but their performance is brave, inspirational, and beautiful.

The Sololist is messing up and crying because two weeks before this performance a tornado hit their hometown and killed 3 members.
