  • I was reading some of the first comments on this video, just out of curiosity; and I saw some people saying that Maria's new voice fits better for her, because she's 17. I don't think that's any relevant. Not all girls have high-pitched voices; there are several cases of women, or girls, with deep voices.

  • DIE REDUB! YOU DON'T BELONG IN THIS WORLD!

  • the dialogues are much better from the original game worth from one vampire's novel and about the voices well you know....

  • Yes, Alucard's voice actor is Sasuke's voice actor.

  • Hmm... I have mixed opinions about Richter's voice. The old one was very cool in some pats (especially from 1:20-1-46). In other parts it sounded to me like the voice actor was slacking. The new one does a good job, its dark and cool, but I don't get the same feel (especially not from 1:02-1:16), he just doesn't sound as overwhelming and powerful as the old one. It's a bit hard to pick a fav of these two, but despite the old one having some slacky moments, I think he fits Richter a tad betterIMO

  • Sasukecard XD

  • Yuri Lowenthal he is the new alucard voice so?

he also voice sasuke in naruto english dub FUCKKKKKKKKKKKK

alucard is sasuke voice now shittttttttttttttttttttasssssssssssssfuccccccccckkkkkkkkkkrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRARROAOROAROOROORzggggggggggggggg

  • Robert Belgrade voice is the better CHOICE. The deep voice is the best. Belgrade for the WIN!

  • It's funny whenever Alucard's thought bubble appears, it shows an NES sprite of Simon. What a great reference! :D

  • @JamesMorrow07

I think, it's Trevor, because Alucard knew Trevor

  • @JamesMorrow07

I think, it's Trevor, because Alucard knew Trevor

  • @JamesMorrow07 Pretty sure its Trevor, Alucard never met Simon (unless you include Judgement....).

  • @GeneralErlend - Is it? It's kinda hard to tell when the video's kinda blurry. Maybe I'll check around YouTube for it.

  • For me, the original Alucard's voice fits better for him. I mean, the deep voice fits perfectly with his concept, visuals etc.

  • changes the voices is bad enough. but the fuckin dialogue.... ps1 version is much better. what good do you get from changing the dialouge

  • @TROLLWITHBIGBALLS Yeah, both writing and voices are better for the PS. Alucard sounds cool on the Ps. AND the voices for "Ugh!" "Mph"(voice for taking damage) are better for PS.The death voice is TOP NOTCH for the PS.

So....SUCK IT SEGA SATURN!(the version that the PSP game was based off, except for the secret garden which is ONLY for Sega Saturn)

  • @ABReaper I AGREE 100%

  • @TROLLWITHBIGBALLS the new dialogue is a better translation of the original Japanese dialogue.

  • @animegamingdude really? wow. I really wish the us and japan versions were not so different. I want to play all the levels

  • @TROLLWITHBIGBALLS if I were the one handling the dialogue and voices, I would have just pulled a Mega Man X6 and leave in the Japanese voices.

  • @animegamingdude That would work. Loved X6

  • @TROLLWITHBIGBALLS I didn't, but that's my opinion.

  • @animegamingdude Well It def wasnt one of the bst psx games. Of course there was castlevania and crash bandicoot

  • @TROLLWITHBIGBALLS I didn't have SoTN, but I had Crash Bandicoot. And it's definitely one of the best games on the PS1.

  • @animegamingdude Ps1.. thosee were the good days

  • @TROLLWITHBIGBALLS they sure were.

  • Maria is just ECSTATIC to be in this castle. :)

  • @laharl95 who could forget that one part in the game lol I remember playing it and I was like what the hell was that? yeah alot of people love that part. Maybe someone should make a petition to do that. I think that is a great idea. :D

  • @laharl95 Yeah Richter new voice kinda rough and it did choke when he says Grand Cross. I like Death's original voice but his new made him sound creepy yet kinda like retarded than being known as the grim reapter lol One thing I wish they would do is use the original voice overs for the new script and still keep the original script I think that would keep both sides of fans who either like the original or new script happy.

  • @laharl95 well I think a seventeen year old Maria could sound like that since she is that age in the game but her new voice sounded kinda happy-like not the other way around. Alucard is about four hundred years old but his voice really fitted as for Richer well his voice was special in a iffy kind of way. How could anyone forget those voices?

  • @laharl95 very true but he should of just left it alone. It make me wonder who was the previous producer for the series before him. Of course as producer you would have the power to do that.

  • Comment removed

  • @laharl95 I know right I wish he would do us all a favor and just leave it alone. Plus any other games that Alucard or any of the characters appear in should have their original voice overs. I remember when I first heard the redub i was disappointed and I found out why the voices weren't the same. If anyone's to blame for this really bad redub it's Koji Igarashi.

  • Grand Cross> Holy Cross

  • "I've been waiting for you." Did anybody think that line was sexy when Richter said that? Or is that only me? XD

  • just a curiosity, is ps2 and psp version of this game only has redub version? I mean, is there any japanese voice and english subtitle? I want to buy and if anyone owns those please let me know. Thanks.

  • Hmmm. I don't like the new script. It sounds too "Americanized". People from the late 1700's from Europe would never sound the way they sound here, at least when it comes to speaking mannerisms. The old version did a good job of making the sentences sound more medieval and appropriate to the time.

And even though Richter's old voice sounded ridiculous, you really can't replace it. It was special in it's own way. lol

  • I don't think Alucard's voice is unfitting here. It's hard to say how old he should sound since he is immortal, but if you take off his grey hair he should look like a 20 year old man.

As for Maria, the PSX dub made a mistake. She sounded like a grown up woman, while she should still be a teenager (SOTN takes place 2 years after Rondo, and Maria was a child back then). The PSP voice is more fitting, but somehow it doesn't sound right.

  • "Do you know someone named Richter Belmont?" (Thinks of Richter)

    "Belmont?" (Thinks of Trevor)

I got a good chuckle out of that.

  • Wait... what? They didn't update Richter like they did in the Saturn version? He's still got his Rondo sprites, even though the cutscenes show him in his new attire. I know this is more or less a straight port of the PS1 original, but way to be lazy...

On the basis of the dub, while I miss the nostalgic value of the old VAs and lines (face it, comments like "Die monster!" and "What is a man?" are synonymous with this game), I think that while it has room to grow, this is a good effort overall.

  • To sum up my opinions on the dub differences, Alucard has a good redubbed voice (though I liked the dissonance of the old one), Dracula is decent (though I miss the old lines of Richter confronting Dracula, like many), and Maria and the others are good. The high point of the redub is Richter Belmont, who has improved by leaps and bounds in this version, and the low point is... Death, who definitely sounded more like a grim reaper with his old voice and less like a creeper.

  • @Durwagon True, to make everybody happy keep all of the old voices except Richter, who should be re dubbed with his new voice actor. That would make the ULTIMATE voice acting!!! Re-release for PSN as a free download for screwing us over with stupid hackers and taking our information!

  • damn why is the SOTN not 3D like in the Dracula X chronicles. damn! i was expecting the same graphics this is the old one except for the voice of alucard i like the old voice better.

  • maria and richter's new voices are good but alucard's new voice doesn't fit him at all the original alucard was better. for ppl who are saying that in the original verison they made him sound like an old man dumbasses ! alucard is old but immortal he 1st appeared in castlevania 3 which takes place in the 1400's and this game takes place in the 1700's so do the math, he's old. crispin freeman should have done alucard's voice.

  • @kelvingm u R right the new voice for Alucad does´t fit at all

  • i soo loved the original english from sotn WAY better than this one.

  • Richter sounds better like Trevor from castlevania COD. They should have given Alucard a more subtle voice like Vampire hunter D, this doesn't suit him.

  • Holy crap.

I just realized Richter's VA is the same as Jin Kisaragi! ;o

  • @WolfeSoul Funny considering Dracula's VA is also Ragna's.

  • Alucard sounds like a faggot... the fuck were they thinking?

  • @endoat

Really, what are you people calling him a faggot on about? His voice isn't even that drastically different, just a little less of a baritone but still pretty deep. And it's well acted, I feel the original sounded too stoic in some of his lines.

The only thing they did screw up is his "what?!" soundbyte when Death takes your equipment, that actually sounds wimpy in this version. Otherwise, it's a fine redub, most voices are way less over-the-top and the writing is less cheesy.

  • @Sejr Alright, someone talking some sense. In general, the PSP redub is a lot smoother than the original PS1 dub. I will say that Maria's redub voice could have been more like her original voice, along with some other characters, but that's just my humble opinion.

  • the original dub was better srrly ppl only find mistakes on the orginal script because 2010 and ppl prefer kid voices and fresh scrpts but orginally the first dubs in one word EPIC maybe ppl can find bad or horrid scripts and voice acting in some of 90s or 80s but thats the history and i think that ppl cant change that epic dialogues

  • @SkellionPolawskiz its up to the gamer to be so closed hearted make this game look like a huge ass mistake. So if you hate the redub who cares you're just too closehearted to give any thing new a chance. But hey thats you

  • Alucards old voice was way better.

  • @HypoJokers old ones are old and incomparison to Konamis character designs nowadays younger people will choose the newer one compared to the old. and add in comments like the old one sounds bad and all that other crap. don't let it get ya.

  • I like the new voices better than the old . But the only proble with this was the fact that this was on a camera pointed at a PSP screen and so the audio sucked in the video. The old alucard's voice sounded like he was Dracula and Dracula's voice was strange .

  • It sounds okay but the old voices I do agree were better. Get a grip people. -.-

  • Yes, that is Yuri Lowenthal's voice as Alucard

  • The voice acting turns this game from the dark sounding badass alucard to alucard going through puberty.

  • ^oo^ ?!

  • Thumbs up,if you like the old Alucard voice better.

  • @Shyreenify Yep.

  • yuri lowenthal

  • This sounds terrible.

  • As much as I love SOTN, playing on the psp made me realize how much I need a new Castlevania built from the ground up for it. If Konami can make games as good as order of ecclesia and dawn of sorrow for the ds, I wonder what they could do on the psp.

  • Damn. What happened to "Do you know the name wwwwwwickter Belmont?"??? o_O

  • the older voices where WAY better

  • At least the script makes more sense now.

And Maria sounds younger, I think she's better like this!

  • dude this is gay the old 1 is so much better

  • @88Lalex

Then go play that one and quit whining about this one.

  • @TheAzureKnighthood I will on my xbox so u shut XD

  • I personally think they all sound a bit too young, and prefer the old version. Saying that, I think Richter's voice is quite good in the redub.

  • Wow. Wow that was bad. When did Alucard turn into a kid?

  • Yuri Lowenthall... *sigh* of course...

  • Maria: "Do you know the name Richter Belmont?" *Is describing Richter*

Alucard: "Belmont? Of course. Why?" *Thinks of 8-bit Trevor"

    lol

  • They ruined the dialogues in psp version... The psone version dialogues were great.

  • @fahreneit this is why the 360 wins on this account.

  • wait a sec i think i've heard Alucard's voice actor some where befor but where

  • In all honesty, I like the re-dub better than the original. I only like the original dub because it was hilarious to listen to. I mean look at how young Alucard looks and they made sound like an old man lol xD. The actor (Yuri, I think) did good job on Alucard in the re-dub and same thing for the rest of the cast. I know true fans don't like this kind of change but for me, change was necessary :P

  • Lol Maria is so cool! But she's growed so fast compared the dracula X version (Rondo of Blood)

  • I like the voices in the original better, but this newer version has much better line delivery.

  • Original Alucard voice is way better

  • Good vid, thanks. Maria's voice actress in this one sounds a lot more plausible. Maria is less than 20 years old, and the woman that did the voice in the PSX English version sounds like a woman in her 30s or older. A fragging NICE sounding 30s+ lady, but still... lot older than <20.

  • oh no, alucard voice changed :(

  • How about this, if you do not like the redub than just play your original copy of SOTN. Now you don't have to go into videos about the redub and post "OMG THESE VOICES SUCK THEY DONT SAY 'Die Monster'" etc etc etc... I'm pretty sure all of those who hate the redub own a copy of the Playstation 1 version so... They have no reason to complain over something so little and insignificant as Voice Acting, because they already own what they like.

  • @BlackMageIshida bleh the old voices made the charaters sound like they are way past their prime. Way too old. I think they were trying to fix that with the character designs and stuff. Konami USA blindly choose actors to voice on this. THat's why most american translations actually suck compared to Japanese. THis was kinda better.

  • Lame Voice acting! I prefer the original one BTW this is the greatest Castlevania game ever.

  • Original VA was much better, I hated Richter's new guy, especially how they took out the best dialogue in video game history.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Actually I like richters new voice. What they shouldn't have done was take away the Epic "DIE MONSTER YOU DON"T BELONG IN THIS WORLD" Speech

  • @s1lv3rblaz3 Yes, but the thing about Richter's new voice is that he's supposed to be at least four to six years older in SotN, and yet they just recycled the same speech from the remake of RoB, where he's younger, that's a bit lazy, he sounded like a teenager when he was at least in his twenties at the time.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz yeah but they are trying to tie in and connect ROndo of blood and symphony of night somehow. so they left it with his voice as if not much changed.

  • @s1lv3rblaz3 That's not even a remotely good excuse, they're just being lazy.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz yeah but I guess they were expecting Richter's voice to chaneg a little when he was under control in which it didn't work all the the way. but alucard and the others are from Judgement so they are just sticking with what they got now. maybe that the old ones didn't want anything to do with this one or Like I said before a connection for the timeline between games IDK. but in reality after people hit their adult life, their voice will barely change a bit. so they kept them

  • @s1lv3rblaz3 Seriously, just because you mentioned Judgment, I have to disregard everything you just said, I'm sorry, but no.

  • Comment removed

  • @SkellionPowalskiz No kidding.. becuase the dubbing companies have to find new actors to make sure their financial status is good. In all honesty, Judgement wasn't really a castlevania game to me either but as a voice actor here in LA, I know more on this type of stuff than you so FYI..... I'm just gonna ignore your last comment. I heard a lot of this crap with the SOnic group and some other VA Groups. It's annoying. Deal with it. it's the actors choice to want to vioce again or not. Not fans

  • @s1lv3rblaz3 Doesn't really excuse a shit-tastic game that even the developer considers one huge mistake.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz more over it was like a new approach into bringning new next generation fans into the castlevania series by using Familiar Voices from animes and stuff. THat's one way of looking at it. still if the fan is close hearted and sticks to original that's fine. I'll respect your views. Mine I liked the lines in the original but the voices sound aalittle better .

  • Personally I prefer the original voice actors than the ones here plus the script in the original fits with the time period and with the characters, but in the new one I noticed some it was the same from the original while the rest of it was changed. Some people say Alucard's voice was too low but if you thought his voice was like that listen to the Doppelganger bosses they have a much more deeper voice then Alucard. But it hurts to hear these re-dub voices.

  • Comparing to the Original Japanese version the redub is a lot closer to it. I'll say it now the Original English dub was just bad. Thumb me down, flame me, etc, etc, etc,...

The fact remains that the Original dub was just horrid. As much as they may want to disagree in terms of acting the Original was more like a old B Movie.

Maybe I'm too harsh but WAY too many people let nostalgia blind themselves. I do think the new dub has room to improve but it at least has decent acting.

  • You won't be needing thumb downs for speaking the truth. Fans love the original dub because of nostalgia, despite it sounding cheesy and the "What is a man." The ReDub is all professional voice acting.

  • @BlackMageIshida

Finally I find someone who shares my opinions on SotN's redub! Come on, Alucard sounded a million years old, Maria sounded like a cheap prostitute, and Richter was uber-cheesy in lines and voice. Now, everything sounds BETTER. If you retro-obsessed gamers wanna dis new things, invent a time machine and go back to the '90s and never come back so we don't have to listen to your flaming.

  • @BlackMageIshida Gtfo. Alucard sounds like a fucking 16 year old preppy kid paying a thousand dollars a month for school. PSP version's diologue is the worst redub I've ever heard on anything.

  • @SFSKabam In your opinion, you can disagree with opinions but at the end of the day they are still that, opinions. You like the original dub good for you, I don't. I don't see anyone forcing you to watch this "shitty" redub. So please do us all a favor and go play or watch the version you like and we'll do the same with the one we like.

  • buuuu no voces is fail voces origin ps 1 alucard richter belmont

  • fucking gay redub damn...

i wish they not re dub the old one..

    -_- gay re dub..

  • yeah man yuri lowenthal (the english sasuke voice) dubbed alucard in this version

sounds more emo than vampire in this

  • It's worth mentioning that Alucard does indeed have something of a spinning kick in this game, I believe...

  • @ut2k9000 Michelle Ruff (the English Dub Rukia Kuchiki voice) does Maria's voice. still sounds like Rukia! imagine Johnny yong bosch dubbing Richter!

  • That would be epic!!!

  • @T94OWH what would? Johnny yong Bosch doing Richter's voice? if that's what you mean...then Fuck Yeah it would be epic!

  • @Saiyuki204 Johnny as Richter would be EPIC!

  • @T94OWH Fuck yeah!

  • His Belmont friends will say, "There goes Johny Yong Belmont, the greatest Belmont of all time!"

    ...sorry, ToA Abridged joke.

  • @XellosNi haha that'd be awesome if something like that would happen

  • @ut2k9000 a vampires tone is close to emo either way. :P

  • Did he say Grand Cross? Two words : "HOLY CROSS!"

  • O RLY? I heard FLAME ON!!

  • i heard Red Cross XD

  • I know its a month late but it's actually Grand Cross :P

  • @tomkoolman GRAND CROSS!!

  • @Tiars666tiamat It was Grand Cross in Japanese. :/

  • @Tiars666tiamat It was Holy Cross but in the Mistranslation- it was Grand Cross

  • 0:58-1:16 WTF Richters lines are nearly exactly the same as Shaft's lines from the Rondo of Blood remake... Did anyone else notice that?

  • @jamiljamtheman i've played the original chi no Rondo. VERY RARE!!!!

  • not really i played it on dxc.

  • @jamiljamtheman

I noticed that too. I figure it's a hint regarding the truth of the matter.

  • you know i love how in that sequence they yell at the top of their lungs to each other...

    "YOU'RE A BELMONT!!!!" lol

  • @jamiljamtheman

Given Richter's distance from Alucard's location, it's kinda justified, isn't it?

  • but that loud?? i was laughing the entire time!! yeah, though i get what you mean. its just such a surprise to hear calm quiet alucard yell at the top of his lungs very angrily. thats another thing. even though they've never met they seem so angry at each other.

  • @jamiljamtheman

Look at it from their perspective. Richter's "evil" this time around, so why shouldn't Alucard yell?

  • i guess. still, its the only time alucard loses his temper like that. kinda shockingly funny.

  • @jamiljamtheman

Tranquil fury when he meets his old man again after 300 years, most of which he spent asleep and the old man spent dead.

  • okay

  • @TheAzureKnighthood because Alucard sounded like he was bored and didn't care at the time the first itme around . in this remake they gave him a little more emotion so he's all like "BUT YOUR A BELMONT!!!

  • @s1lv3rblaz3

I like how young Yuri makes him sound. Reminds you that he isn't as physically old as he really is.

  • @jamiljamtheman that should have been a freakin hint telling you you'll get the worst ending if you don't know that Shaft is still alive and you already don't know that.

  • @s1lv3rblaz3

umm I know the story, ok. so you know what? really? me neither.

  • I liked richter's redub.

alucard's original was better though... at least the tone.

  • I liked Maria's voice here...

But Alucard's...man, He's a 300+ year old vampire! Not a teenager of some sort! O_O

  • @nukesheart age wise there actually has to be a separation between him and his Father Dracula's voice. the old one had it kinda swapped around. Kinda. the old one alucard sounded like he was 600 years old and dracula sounded younger than that. But that's just me . O_o

  • O.o alucard sounds like sasuke from naruto

  • that's because alucard (psp version of SotN) and saske has the same voice actor...Yuri Lowenthal

  • They needed an emo for Alucard's character. Therefore...

  • Hmmm....I dare say it's about as awful as the old voice acting. Just different.

  • LOL He sounded like a chilid molester when he said i've been waiting for you.

  • WHO ARE YAOU!?

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry, but this game's dialogue has never really been done well. In the first, the dialogue sounded like it was spoken in the right kind of grammar for the era it apparently took place in, even if the acting was almost unbearable. This one, however, makes all these 16th century people sound like american teenagers on a field trip. The first one made me wince. This one makes me want to slam my head against the wall, over and over.

  • Wow,You are really right!!!

It's hilarious and ridicoulous...on the same time..

    The next thing we're gonna see is Alucard saying;

    ''Yo,Richie what's up?'' and Richer responding ''Fine,Dude...'!!''

    lol

  • I just laughed so hard at this comment. XD

I definetly feel you on the latter. I think I felt the same on the first game when I first played it when I was 9. Then it kinda grew on me.

  • Yeah. At least the game is fun enough that I had enough time to learn to like it.

  • I wish they used this dialong in the original with the orignal voice actors. I thought the dialonge used was corny; this one sounds much more realistic but I really don't like the voice actors.

  • The Alucard and evil Richter scene is so hilarious!

    Richter: HAHAHA!!

Alucard: Who are you?! You blood.... the scent of your blood... You're a Belmont!

  • do any body know how to use action replay codes for the coverted version for psp

  • alucard's new voice sucks ass.

  • @gunpei the old sucked ass back then. only because Japan rushed the game to be produced with the Saturn and the release was sped up . They probably picked va's on short notice for the original . this one was more planned.

  • María sounds like a rat. in the original she had more presence and power on her voice

  • The original Alucard sounded ethereal this one sounds mediocre.

  • Great... Alucard is Sasuke... Just like in Judgment...

  • It really bothers me how they used Richter's old Rondo of Blood sprite despite having new clothes in SOTN. -.-

  • the sega saturn akumajo dracula x version has rich. with long hair and boroque era outfit.

  • This new voices suck ass, original all the way!

  • Agreed! The new voice actors sounds like amateurs

  • as oposed to the experienced ones that did the first game... xD

In my opinion both dub suck... but this one sucks so much harder, the first one at least had Engrish going for it

  • Richter sounds like Steve Blum.

  • @gaborsama

    Yup, and the dialogs DX

  • what happen con las voices???

  • BLEUGH, his low pitch voice is gone! NOOOOOOO!

  • Ps1 Version... Ownz

  • Lam ass voices, the original dub is WAY better! They sound like emo teens in this one.

  • Every time I hear these voices, I always think at first that the person playing the game is reading aloud. They're horrid, absolutely horrendous. The original voices were indeed superior. Especially in the case of Alucard.
