guys....i hate coyotes and will shoot one on sight BUT, if it's suffering, put another in him. that's absolutely terrible you didn't because you didn't want to mess up the hide. I dislike when people have something negative to say and i'm not being a punk by coming on here and saying you should have shot him again. no problems with you shooting him, don't let him die slowly, it's not pleasant.
I live in Northern WV. Ohio County to be exact and hear the yotes all the time but never seen em. My buddy took on at the bottom of our hill and says theres a den out back of his house which is right up the road from me. I want to shoot a yote so bad though. Them things are annoying and keep me up. They havent got pets or nothing yet. They attacked a couple deer downtown though. Oh and EFF all u peta and animal lovers. PETA PEOPLE EATING TASTY ANIMALS. Hunting is a way of life in WV. Get over it
oh hell yeah oh boy! love this video; so much info i needed to take me out some coyotes! i have at least 3 packs running the hollers around me, getting ready to throw out more pups. we saw a pack of 5 running the fence line just across the road from my house (my house sits along the gravel road) just 100 yard off road about 3 weeks ago. we live in rockport, southern wood county, any time ya wanna come and try 'er here, you're more than welcome!
Good job boys..... BUT... after ya smack one.... don't do the High 5 thing... sit tight and keep calling...maybe you will get another... and another.... ya never know
Ive had a lot of luck with the foxpro I use the rodent distress, ive never tried the fawn do you play it non stop or pause it every 15 sec to keep from a overcall,im hunting in southeastern Tennessee, ive never had any luck with a rabbit distress either.
And the reason he didnt shoot into the rocks was b/c someone taught him hunter safety at some point! Those old reclaimed strip mines have big drainage ditches that are lined with thousands of basketball sized rocks. The coyote was laying in that ditch. You dont just fire a .270 into that at point blank range...he obviously wanted to finish the dog off asap, otherwise he would not have grabbed it while it was still breathing....as clean a kill as possible under the circumstances...good job!
Nice setup homies....see that your hunting an old reclaimed mine site. I live about an hour south of you in Monroe County, right on the Summers County line. I have 500 acres along the New River...Coyotes getting out of hand down here...workin on my deer and rabbits big time. Just picked up a mojo critter and Foxpro24...hunting with a Rem 270 with 150 gr boat tails. Also have a nice little JVC HD cam and cordless mics...hope to get some good footage soon. Go Eers!
Nothing wrong with the vid, but finish it off if it's not dead. A smooth rock won't wreck the hide and will end it quickly.... leaving it to bleed out when it doesn't have to is just wrong.
This was good shooting, but you really should finish what you start, instead of letting the coyote suffer. If you were worried about the hide, why didnt you use a 22 mag?
i know fox pro makes good calls as they are advertised everywhere predators are hunted.but their are so many different versions sizes and models to choose from.which do recommend in the wireless remote version for coyotes?the coyotes and black bear have destroyed our local deer population and i'm going to try to thin them out! thanks!
@araponga78 ... if you were listening he said "i'd shoot him right now if he wasnt on those rocks" ... meaning if he shot it, he'd be risking rocochet.... a .270 caliber round goes through a coyote or deer like its a paper target.
@amax3833 why can't you people just get the hell out of here. we don't come on your peta bullshit videos and spam you with shit. awesome shot by the way!
@amax3833 For god sake, its not like we just go kill ever single animl we ever see! we actualy have an economic reason for hunting them, which u would understand if u thought a litter bit farther than thinking we just kill to kill
@amax3833 hold on i dont know how old you are but play this in your head say u have kids a coyote comes in your yard attacks one, you say its a way of life and let your kid die? or do your shoot it? coyotes are becoming more and more abundant and people like you PETA no nothing about hunting and therefore need to say nothing when a hunter helps mother nature
Because I personally would rather put an animal down as quickly and with as little pain as possible. I don't care if it costs a few bucks worth of bullets. I love hunting, but pride myself in making quick and clean kills. I shot a coyote this year 4 times with a .270 to put it down quick. The first shot was lungs, second, body, third, neck, fourth, face. I felt that was better than one shot and letting it flop for 30 seconds. I don't shoot them for the hide, but to help the deer population,
@actionsports111 same here thats the only reason why i shoot em and for the phesent population to. but i hate coyotes so i dont mind if they flop but ill put a kill shot on a deer in a hurry
Raleigh County, we have taken 2 more since this video. Both with fawn distress. 5 on the year, 2 w rabbit and 3 w fawn. Also 28lb bobcat with rabbit in January.....Good Luck!
That yote's a pretty weird coloration. Reminded me of an African wild dog!
