Merle Haggard (best version). I found it the other day on limewire.I recollected words from the song & woul only sing the few lines I remembered from childhood.I'm fairly sure he was the one who gave the song it's popularity in the late60's - early 70's.Anyway, i am sure everyone would enjoy that version.Lets face it though,the lyrics are beautiful for anyone with a soul & or empathy.

Actually, I believe Kris Kristofferson wrote this, but Johnny's cover sure made it "his own" as he always does. Amazingly beautiful song. And you do it quite nicely as well!
