When I saw him on August 1st, 2009, in FedEX Field in Maryland, he sang "Michelle" especially for us, introducing it by saying just what he said here. "Now that I'm in Washington," he said, "I'd like to sing a song that the President would like to sing for his wife." Or something like that.

Damn right, Paul! Obama IS the right man for the job, and he's proven that this past year.

I think the award is well-deserved, and I hope Sir Paul continues surprising all of us like he has ever since 1963.

@HarveyDentLives Totally agree. The more we get to know the great Paul the more we realise he is an amazing person on so many levels. I have a vivid memory of climbing through a thick hawthorn hedge next to our house, aged 10, when my brother shouted that "ticket to ride" was on the radio. I didn't realise until the song finished that I had cut my arms and legs to ribbons, such was my eagerness to get into the house. Didn't need the gate. Happy memories. What an amazing story!!
