Conclusion: the economic damage would be so vast - not even considering the cut of industrial supply-lines and export-ways - that a military option is actually no option for either side including 3rd parties. Think about it. Understanding the magnitude of economic impact and damage makes any conflict highly unlikely. Nevertheless, be prepared, ... , u never know. What do u think?

What you underestimate - is the fact that southern china is totally exposed to counterattacks. Taiwan may well be squeezed - however, the factories in southern china wouldn't re-open for quiet some time. Home-built short-to-mid range rockets can target almost any place in the southern belt of China. Everyone tends to talk about how many 1000nds of rocket China has deployed to the west - aiming at Taiwan.
