Because films comes in a lot of parts, then they are teped in 2 or 3 parts, so when the first part of the film ends, you immediately turn on another projector and continue showing the film whith no pauses, thats why you need more than one projectors. But on the new projectors you are able to show film in one part.

this looks kinda old. looks like when the movie is over you have to reverse the film so it's heads up for the next show. Lost of work if you have lots of projectors. where I work, looks like the same Dolby prossesor we have in our all digital house.

One of worst projectors ever did service with. Specially this version with lens turret and so called "afocal converters".
