  • awesome!

  • I can imagine this being used on private Yachts!

  • @lolmehaha1 Yes, this boat can cope with most surfaces. But it only does a couple of knots on land and 35 knots on water.

  • Did it ever end up going into production?

  • @Kremlin60 No, we have only built one so far. Still waiting for the follow-up business. That's boatbuilding!

  • @a1yachtdesigner I can see this having applications in Northern British Columbia or Alaska...

  • Impressive, have the RNLI seen this idea, might be worth a patent on the concept!

  • @samlovesbones1 Thanks for your kind comment. Yes, the designis patented. Yes, a technical person from the RNLI has seen a video presentation, but did not make any comment about its suitability or otherwise.

  • nice vid and cool boat could you post a vid with the boat in the water instead of pictures

  • @louis1995j Thanks for your interest. Regret there is so little movie foootage, only a few stills. I only got to see the boat on the trials day - I have been back in the office designing more since then!

  • a lot of extra things to break just for convience of launching.saltwater will take a toll on the equipment and the maintinence would be horrific.I dont see a use for this except in certain areas where boat launches are at a permium, like a secluded island or something like that.Freshwater it would be cool but salt i dont know.Better have lots of zincs on that boat..

  • @johnguz76 Thanks for your comment. The boat is doing very well on the shingle beach for which it was designed. It is all made of marine grade aluminium alloy and yes, there are plenty of zinc sacrificial anodes in place.

  • this is so cool!

  • @rossmelvin Thank you so much for your kind comment.

  • This is so cool! Very much like an airplane, once it's landed, taxies into it's hanger!

I hope you guys are successful with this brilhant design!

  • @den2003 Yes it is a great boat and genuinely does everything we planned for it. But success is a long time coming in terms of new orders!

  • that is so neat!

  • @Xantec Many thanks for your kind comment on our self-launching powerboat. Sorry that computer problems have prevented an earlier reply.

  • @Xantec Thank you so much. We love the boat too.

  • this is crazy!!!

how much did this hole thing cost?

  • @WildPartyFest

Many thanks for your comment on our self-launching powerboat. Sorry that computer problems have prevented an earlier reply. The boat cost 40,000 GBP to design and build.

  • I've been around boats all my life and I've got to say.... brilliant !! What an awsome design.Seems like the military would pick this up in a heartbeat.

  • @nerblebun Many thanks for your kind comment on our self-launching powerboat. Sorry that computer problems have prevented an earlier reply. We love the boat and would really like the military or any serious boat producer to get in touch with regards to marketing them.

  • We unload our boat in the sand...this method probably wouldn't work

  • Thanks for your comment. We have only tried the unit on firm sand and there is no problem. The tractor units spread the weight very well, but the nose wheel could sink into soft sand.

  • don't know what the standing nose weight up on the bow is but you could explore a ski for soft terrain... if you made the ski the same shape as the hull you could have it retract in to place. an inboard / outboard option would be neat too, you could power the tracks off a PTO

  • very clever, clean work. will you be developing this item for sale to boat manufactures?

  • Thanks for your interest in our project. Yes, we are hoping that a manufacturer will take the design under licence and produce the boats.

  • construction companies in Alaska should have an interest and the military of course

  • wow that is truely amazing well done.

im not good at converting knots etc...how fast does this boat move in mph ? thankyou regards joe

  • Thanks for your interest in this project. In mph the boat goes at 34.5 It seems fast enough for a general-purpose workboat/fishing boat..

  • nice, check out some of our videos, subscribe to get more check them out!!!

  • Thanks for taking the time to comment on our project.

  • Excellent.. a Boat as an Airplane..

  • Yes, you are absolutely right. The project was inspired by the idea of an aircraft undercarriage on a boat.

  • the motor just needs be the size of the tower this way. Those dumb and heayy tractor struts really slow ya down...

  • We tried to keep the weight down by using aluminium for the units. Of course they are all lifted into the boat for going along and so the boat has a smooth bottom. Gives 34.5mph - not bad for a general purpose workboat with 175hp.

  • respect

  • Thanks for taking the time to comment on our project. It all helps to encourage us.

  • no more sandbar problems

  • Thanks for your interest in this project. You are quite right it is excellent on firm sand.

  • sweet

  • Thanks for taking the time to comment. It all helps.
