This makes me feel more English than the original. One of our most beloved crusty tunes AND a fine example of British self-effacing humour. 10/10 Cornballs!
Joe's songs are great, but i was with Adam re all the love he got for his, and the lack of love Adam got for his songs...they're both really funny but in different ways, overall i'd say i prefer Adam's songs.
not that i ever voted though cos im a podcast on showsly listener lol...srsly, who wants to listen to full radio- new and travel updates, crappy music...podcast it the only way to go!
Somehow my song wars opinions turned into my opinions on why radio is shit...apologies :P
I listened to the podcast on the tube the other day and when this came on I started giggling so much that I had to quickly think about sad things so I didn't look like a laughing looney. Great work Jo, now stop procrastinating and get on with some work!
The sun is bright, the crowds polite, And mostly white, but that's alright What's on the other side? It's Britannia High Boy that show's done, back to channel One Here's a farmer with a suit of armour A bloke from Ghana with a stuffed llama Those cufflinks in the expert's hands Cost ten bob but they're worth thirty grand Now bring your stuff to the BBC We'll evaluate your antiques for free You might even get to be on TV!
You swine, Cornish. In adding lyrics to a tune I have firmly implanted in my head, I'm now unable to think of one without the other. I tuned in to watch the 'Million Pound Valuation' (which was crap) last weekend, and was unable to not mentally apply the lyrics to the theme (kinda like what 'My Fellow Americans' did to 'Hail To The Chief' for me).

Never has a greater temptation been resisted than in rhyming "albert stocks" with "hollyhocks" rather than the obvious.

I think it was Adam that revealed that when he's bored he likes to go onto random YouTube videos and just post "FAKE!".
He said it was always amusing to read the backlash that that causes!

@sazzleskank A comedian called Chris Ramsey has used that in his stand-up, I'm wondering if one has heard the other and decided to use it themselves.

@FogNut2 Yeah, I remember seeing Chris Ramsey and he did that then too.
Hm.
