everyone that says 505 hp isn't enough to beat this bike is probably right. but it says 505 whp (wheel horse power) which means the vette actually has around 631 hp, because 25% of an engines hp gets wasted through the transmission and driveline and driveshaft etc. to get to the wheels. so, this vette prolly really does have the power to beat the bike.

@gsxrpik i dont know man, i know a lot has to do witrh rider. BUT Not all 500hp cars are created equal, many factors come in, weight, gearing etc, a corvette c6 z06 is a little much for a stock 600. One tops out at 200 one tops out at 170...its all good though. i like both. cars are more my thing though.

@daviddicus i took my r6 up to 161 and its bone stock in 5th gear but it didnt have enough power to push it past into 6th it just slowed down, im guessing its the elevation i ride at, but i payed $2300 for my bike and the zo6 probably costs at least 10 times more stock plus mods to beat a stock sport bike
@daviddicus no, the CBR 600 goes over 160, google it. I have one and it hits 162. That vette has a faster top speed. Then again, a CBR 1000 will hit 185 ish.
The rider of the 600rr started the race in way too high of a gear. If he dropped down lower, he wouldn't of gotten smoked like that. Now I'm not saying he would of actually won the race, but it wouldn't of been a kill like that, that's for damn sure.
The 600rr makes all of it's power in the higher rpms.

thats a big boy on that 600, rider is everything skill level is important but your size is to, you can have the skills but if you wieght 210 pounds a rider with same skill lvl that wieghs 145 pounds is going to be faster....
@hazmedomelogarina11 well the C6 corvette ZR1 has 638 hp and 604 lb/ft torque stock at the crank... supercharged LS9 from the factory...on street tires they say 0-60 is about 3.3 and 11.2 in 1/4 mile, 205 mph top speed... and thats if theyre being modest which gm is known for under-rating and over-delivering on performance cars
@rcrocker02 NOBODY underates. They always give numbers from the engines NOT the wheels. It's a marketing gimick, The Zr-1 is still fast as fucking hell. But it's output is still different from what they claim.
@EpiDemic117 actually gm tech magazine PROVED that they do in testing the 1998-2002 camaro z28 and ss... i know the difference between power to the crankshaft vs power to the wheels, typically calculate a 20% loss of power through the drivetrain. youre not talkin to some rookie so dont assume that. gm tech magazine dyno tested a ls1 camaro ss.. rated 325 hp at the crank by gm... then how come it dyno tested 321 hp at the wheels? and thats not the only time its happened

I have never lost to a vette on my bike... its more the rider than anything. I smoked a modded Z06 in Va beach this summer with a fresh stock cbr600 hands down. Gotta know how to push the revs right.
@wvpd229 , thing is that all this racing videos of cars vs bikes are 80% rolling from speeds of 60mph or more. As in this video, for example. Like it or not, our bikes have great acceleration, not top end. Which is why cars always try to race em to top speed. Top speed means nothing in a race track (curves, etc)

@UKScootz you are right about the mid-range power my 07 cbr pulls hard from about 6000 rpms my old 06 r6 fell on its face below 10 grand..lol. the cbr will pull away from a light easier in 2nd then my r6 did in 1st.
I have an 06 RR and I have good power from about 6-14.. I usually dont even wait for redline to shift because the power of the gear is already diminishing by that rpm... I am debating going to a 750, but I can't decide
@theroc5851 unfortunately honda did a good job fuckin the bike up in 09 and 10. the 600 class is to competitive to take a step back and stay on top. the abs thing may be nice on the street with noobs but a good rider just thinks it gets in the way. im thinking about steeping up the the new fireblade(cbr1000rr) myself its not the best looking bike out there but shit the thing is a beast. i rode a black one a few weeks ago holy shit that thing is a missile.
caveman357....once again you show you know nothing about the "new" cbrs yes the older cbrs was last in performance to the competition but all that changed in 07. saying a new 600 wont run 10s in the 1/4 mile is flat wrong they will, modded 1000s run deep into the 9s. the 07 and 08 cbrs had the best power to weight ratio in the 600 class, it won the 600 of the year in 07and the only 600 that beat it on a drag strip was the daytona 675 look up the numbers they are not hard to find.
They are great bikes. They may yet be even more capable on the racetrack than previous models, although it does fall a little behind the R6 and the kawi 600 on the race track. The 600RR is more street oriented, hence the strong midrange & progressive wound springs. Some of the more racing oriented bikes have less midrange in exchange for top end, and linear springs.
You know honda did some research and found that only 10 percent of riders were likely to go to the track! hence built 4 street

@psmTARDCORE hp numbers mean very little. Its all about power to weight ratio. I don't know much about what cars put out what, but i do know very few could take on even a 600, definitely not a 1000. Ive seen countless "super cars" owned by 600's. The only cars Ive seen stand a chance are HEAVILY modified supras, evos, skylines etc. Anything even close to stock on a car gets destroyed 99/100 times. This car must have been heavily modded, and i doubt the chubster on the bike knew how to race.

In fact, weight affects the car more at lower speeds than it does higher speeds. gearing vs top end and arodynamics have way more to do with the reason a car with that much power can beat a CBR 600, which isn't even that fast compared to the monster bikes out there. Most people will admit that from 80mph+ and even 60mph+ cars will beat bikes if power allows.
did the guy on the CBR start in 6th? i raced a corvette in Reno and he had no chance at all. i think i raced an older model zo6 though. still, the bike should have been quite a bit closer in my opinion. but hey 500 horse is 500 horse i suppose
@caveman357....you know nothing about the 07 and up cbrs....i have a 470rwhp 04 mach 1 and a 07 cbr 600rr with a few mods. the cbr eats my mach allday anyday. the guy on the cbr cant ride for shit. even with a rookie on that bike go from a lower speed then 70 and the vette is toast.
Cbr's are the slowest bikes. They expecially lack power up top. Plus the fact that its a 600, dosent help either. Cbr"s are just slow bikes. Not trying to say there bad. Just slow up top. That suzuki k5 would of beat it tho!

in a straight line they were not fastest bikes..I roade one at demo days with some of the guys i used to ride with, they're well balanced bikes, they feel nimble, but in a straight line my 636 would rape em..actually through high speed corners my kawi felt ALOT more planted
#1 the CBR is 599cc your kawi is 636. Did you fail to see that. That means your motor has 37 more cubic centimeters on the CBR. There's a reason why they called the 636 a cheater bike. cuz it's not a true 600.
#2 a DEMO bike ill never be adjusted until someone buys it and tunes the suspension. And ofcourse you will feel more comfortable when you ride your bike, you're used to it. But numbers are numbers, and in the end CBRs were #1 for many years running in their respected class.
yes but I wasn't racing it ( i'd do track days but still) I obviously test road more than my 6R..so I test road a demo aswell..so they were in comparable conditions..yes the 636 was a cheaterbike on the track..the 636 as a street bike was the middleweight class bike and was in competitio with CBR since the 6RR was limited production..sorry when I said MY bike..I meant the demo before i bought it aswell..MY bike would obviously be much more comfortable for me

yea, it had a wicked ass midrange..it didn't have a whole lot more top end than most 600 but you could feel the power come on like 2 grand earlier than most 600s.the 6RR was too hard to get ahold of brand new..they were more limited production but were alot of fun to ride..a buddy of mine had an 04 RR
well I demo'd that before i bought it so i wasn't used to it at the time, I tested that and a CBR600RR and an R6 of that year, the R6 was nice..honda wasn't bad but i found it was a bit more of a nervous bike at first..I got used to it, but the fact that the kawi had amazing pull and felt pretty nimble for a supposedly fat bike ( even though they're not heavy..once on it you get the impression it's much fatter than the R6 and the CBR until you get going)

Hondas have always been the slowest bikes.PERIOD! this is true, even in the early 90's. Hmm well, If you think ancient carriage leaf suspension is good, then I'm glad your're happy. You only think that because it's stereotypically a nice american sports car. It is engineered only to have high top speeds. Just about any european car could beat it around a curvy race track.
the corvette uses a transverse leaf spring. It is not the same as an old chevy truck. It is different because it isn't a live rear axle like with typical leaf springs. It is just as effective as coil springs.
What I mean by that is American cars have never been known for their handling abilities. Foreign auto-makers engineer their cars/motorcycles to be good at cornering while maintaining a high amount of power.

you actually were talkin to someone else. i havent looked into the c5 corvette suspension, but the leaf springs are most likely not the same leaf springs that are on my 01 gmc sierra. what it is IMO is a back wheel to wheel mounted rigid bar of spring steel that is attached to a wishbone which has a strut on it. A leaf spring and a coil spring can have the same elastic properties to them, a coil is more compact so less movement absorbes more shock, and doesnt revirberate. totally different setup

@daviddicus i took my r6 up to 161 and its bone stock in 5th gear but it didnt have enough power to push it past into 6th it just slowed down, im guessing its the elevation i ride at, but i payed $2300 for my bike and the zo6 probably costs at least 10 times more stock plus mods to beat a stock sport bike

@daviddicus no, the CBR 600 goes over 160, google it. I have one and it hits 162. That vette has a faster top speed. Then again, a CBR 1000 will hit 185 ish.

The rider of the 600rr started the race in way too high of a gear. If he dropped down lower, he wouldn't of gotten smoked like that. Now I'm not saying he would of actually won the race, but it wouldn't of been a kill like that, that's for damn sure.
The 600rr makes all of it's power in the higher rpms.

@hazmedomelogarina11 well the C6 corvette ZR1 has 638 hp and 604 lb/ft torque stock at the crank... supercharged LS9 from the factory...on street tires they say 0-60 is about 3.3 and 11.2 in 1/4 mile, 205 mph top speed... and thats if theyre being modest which gm is known for under-rating and over-delivering on performance cars

@EpiDemic117 actually gm tech magazine PROVED that they do in testing the 1998-2002 camaro z28 and ss... i know the difference between power to the crankshaft vs power to the wheels, typically calculate a 20% loss of power through the drivetrain. youre not talkin to some rookie so dont assume that. gm tech magazine dyno tested a ls1 camaro ss.. rated 325 hp at the crank by gm... then how come it dyno tested 321 hp at the wheels? and thats not the only time its happened

I have never lost to a vette on my bike... its more the rider than anything. I smoked a modded Z06 in Va beach this summer with a fresh stock cbr600 hands down. Gotta know how to push the revs right.

@wvpd229 , thing is that all this racing videos of cars vs bikes are 80% rolling from speeds of 60mph or more. As in this video, for example. Like it or not, our bikes have great acceleration, not top end. Which is why cars always try to race em to top speed. Top speed means nothing in a race track (curves, etc)

@UKScootz you are right about the mid-range power my 07 cbr pulls hard from about 6000 rpms my old 06 r6 fell on its face below 10 grand..lol. the cbr will pull away from a light easier in 2nd then my r6 did in 1st.

I have an 06 RR and I have good power from about 6-14.. I usually dont even wait for redline to shift because the power of the gear is already diminishing by that rpm... I am debating going to a 750, but I can't decide

@theroc5851 unfortunately honda did a good job fuckin the bike up in 09 and 10. the 600 class is to competitive to take a step back and stay on top. the abs thing may be nice on the street with noobs but a good rider just thinks it gets in the way. im thinking about steeping up the the new fireblade(cbr1000rr) myself its not the best looking bike out there but shit the thing is a beast. i rode a black one a few weeks ago holy shit that thing is a missile.

caveman357....once again you show you know nothing about the "new" cbrs yes the older cbrs was last in performance to the competition but all that changed in 07. saying a new 600 wont run 10s in the 1/4 mile is flat wrong they will, modded 1000s run deep into the 9s. the 07 and 08 cbrs had the best power to weight ratio in the 600 class, it won the 600 of the year in 07and the only 600 that beat it on a drag strip was the daytona 675 look up the numbers they are not hard to find.

They are great bikes. They may yet be even more capable on the racetrack than previous models, although it does fall a little behind the R6 and the kawi 600 on the race track. The 600RR is more street oriented, hence the strong midrange & progressive wound springs. Some of the more racing oriented bikes have less midrange in exchange for top end, and linear springs.
You know honda did some research and found that only 10 percent of riders were likely to go to the track! hence built 4 street

@DeleeP lol the CBR 600's aren't that fast passed 120 compared to a car that puts roughly 570hp at the crank. I really doubt the bike would be in a top gear for a race against a car.

@psmTARDCORE hp numbers mean very little. Its all about power to weight ratio. I don't know much about what cars put out what, but i do know very few could take on even a 600, definitely not a 1000. Ive seen countless "super cars" owned by 600's. The only cars Ive seen stand a chance are HEAVILY modified supras, evos, skylines etc. Anything even close to stock on a car gets destroyed 99/100 times. This car must have been heavily modded, and i doubt the chubster on the bike knew how to race.

In fact, weight affects the car more at lower speeds than it does higher speeds. gearing vs top end and arodynamics have way more to do with the reason a car with that much power can beat a CBR 600, which isn't even that fast compared to the monster bikes out there. Most people will admit that from 80mph+ and even 60mph+ cars will beat bikes if power allows.

@caveman357....you know nothing about the 07 and up cbrs....i have a 470rwhp 04 mach 1 and a 07 cbr 600rr with a few mods. the cbr eats my mach allday anyday. the guy on the cbr cant ride for shit. even with a rookie on that bike go from a lower speed then 70 and the vette is toast.

in a straight line they were not fastest bikes..I roade one at demo days with some of the guys i used to ride with, they're well balanced bikes, they feel nimble, but in a straight line my 636 would rape em..actually through high speed corners my kawi felt ALOT more planted

#1 the CBR is 599cc your kawi is 636. Did you fail to see that. That means your motor has 37 more cubic centimeters on the CBR. There's a reason why they called the 636 a cheater bike. cuz it's not a true 600.
#2 a DEMO bike ill never be adjusted until someone buys it and tunes the suspension. And ofcourse you will feel more comfortable when you ride your bike, you're used to it. But numbers are numbers, and in the end CBRs were #1 for many years running in their respected class.

yes but I wasn't racing it ( i'd do track days but still) I obviously test road more than my 6R..so I test road a demo aswell..so they were in comparable conditions..yes the 636 was a cheaterbike on the track..the 636 as a street bike was the middleweight class bike and was in competitio with CBR since the 6RR was limited production..sorry when I said MY bike..I meant the demo before i bought it aswell..MY bike would obviously be much more comfortable for me

not dissing cbrs like i said they had their pros and cons..but i was stating in a straight line they're not fastest..they are well balanced..but the GSXR was faster than the CBR aswell..CBRs were up there but to say they were number one is hard..since they're all so close what it comes down to is rider preference..is the point I am making..and if you just wanna stick to comparos..everybody had a diff result over the years..so that's arguable

yea, it had a wicked ass midrange..it didn't have a whole lot more top end than most 600 but you could feel the power come on like 2 grand earlier than most 600s.the 6RR was too hard to get ahold of brand new..they were more limited production but were alot of fun to ride..a buddy of mine had an 04 RR

well I demo'd that before i bought it so i wasn't used to it at the time, I tested that and a CBR600RR and an R6 of that year, the R6 was nice..honda wasn't bad but i found it was a bit more of a nervous bike at first..I got used to it, but the fact that the kawi had amazing pull and felt pretty nimble for a supposedly fat bike ( even though they're not heavy..once on it you get the impression it's much fatter than the R6 and the CBR until you get going)

the corvette uses a transverse leaf spring. It is not the same as an old chevy truck. It is different because it isn't a live rear axle like with typical leaf springs. It is just as effective as coil springs.

you actually were talkin to someone else. i havent looked into the c5 corvette suspension, but the leaf springs are most likely not the same leaf springs that are on my 01 gmc sierra. what it is IMO is a back wheel to wheel mounted rigid bar of spring steel that is attached to a wishbone which has a strut on it. A leaf spring and a coil spring can have the same elastic properties to them, a coil is more compact so less movement absorbes more shock, and doesnt revirberate. totally different setup
