@TheScreaminghost actually, what i think happened was Kaito said "I will give everything to hear her voice again" or something along those lines, so Luka actually took EVERYTHING, as in his life. so Miku got her voice back at the cost of his life. it was more like an expression that Luka took seriously.

I know people make comparisson but this song was completely stupid. It didn't capture the true essence of the story from H.C.A. Luka's had a more realistic sense and was true to the original story. This story was just a complete horror. It was a cheesy rendition of the disney with a littler tragedy. I'm just saying. This is my opnion.

I love 'The Little Mermaid' by Luka and this version is okay, but I suddenly realized something.

At 0:55 Luka says, "So it made me remember just a little."

I was suddenly thinking about how Luka loved Len in 'The Little Mermaid' and ended up becoming a spirit of the air instead of becoming sea foam like she was supposed to. So, when she said that, it made me think that maybe, just maybe, Luka became a witch instead?

I don't think I'm right, but I thought about this, so I figured to share this.

I love both songs. They're two different stories. While Luka's depressing, this one is just as amazing. HOWEVER

I, personally, don't see why people like to compare this song to Luka's 'The Little Mermaid' so much. They're based off of the same story by Hans Christian Anderson and have the same name, yes, but they're entirely different stories and are (probably, I actually don't know) made by different authors. Thumbs-down this comment if you'd like but I personally think both are great.

I like to think of this song like a series of the little mermaid... i guess. To me it goes like this: The Little Mermaid (Luka's version) after she turned into sea foam she was reborn as the witch.. The Little Mermaid (Miku's Version) at the part it said: "it reminded me. only a little." (i think that's how it lines up with this version) and she gives Miku legs. then Last Mermaid Song (Miku Hatsune) is the final song... i don't know how it connects with this song... but yeah... still mermaids!!!

Well apparently the reason for the poorness into Luka's voice was because her role was the sea witch, so the editor/creator of this song had to arrange the synthesizer in order to make her sound like the sea witch.

If they stuck to the old storyline, I can see miku being the mermaid, meiko being the sea witch, rin being miku's sister, gakupo being the prince, and luka the girl who ends up marrying gakupo in the end. Maybe the story could change a bit and Kaito would marry miku in the end. that would be a happy ending for me.

..Well. Yeah, Luka's version (The Original story of The Little Mermaid, might I add. The Disney one was just sugarcoated.. ALOT.) was better and more heartfelt than this version, but I have to admire the originality of it's storyline.

I think what the Prince ended up giving up was his Body. So he just turned into that jewel on the necklace that the witch was holding/Miku wore around her neck.

Okay here is what I understand. Giving up "everything" was his price. He did die, but his soul is left in the crystal seen first by Luka (no string attached) Later by Miku hung around her neck while in her mermaid form in the beginning. Hope I helped.
