  • Hahah lol once i was watching Earth girls are easy and in that movie they also showed a clip of this movie... i've always wondered what movie it was and now i found it haha xD

  • te beast clothes are so nice! XD

  • The Music is from the japanese band "Malice Mizer" ;-)

  • josette day is on a trolley

    adds a lovely wistful effect

  • The film was based on Mme de Beaumont's tale.

  • To give us the impression she was floating too, she was put on a board with little wheels under and tracted with a rope that you may guess if you watch the scene carefully. To improve Jean Marais voice, which was very high, Coteau made him smoke a lot so that he should have a coarse voice. If you like this actor, watch the Fantomas films and the Bossu, my favourite one, with Bourvil.

  • what music is?

  • They were so poor on this set (1945) you cannot imagine it !

A lot of things were stolen from the set by poor people (the curtains for instance)

  • That's so intriguing to me...imagine what those people are doing now with that piece of history. Where did you hear that?

  • Jean Cocteau wrote it somewhere. Two other anecdotes : Jean Cocteau had the idea to film the heroin (who was ugly according to Jean Marais and who needed a long time at the make up woman) running in a hall, with floating curtains, in slow motion. To give us the impression she was floating too, she was put on a board with little wheels under and tracted with a rope that you may guess if you watch the scene carefully.

  • this was a great movie, saw it in my film history class.. And thats coming from a hip-hop loving 30 year old stoner...

  • Jean Marais is dead now.

  • i absolutely love this movie!!!j'adore!!!

  • love this movie :) kinda scary, but awesome

  • scary

  • Hey! the beast look like "the puss with boots"!!

  • Luv the film! Its a fantastic fairy tale with an obvious message- u shouldnt judge a book by its cover or people shouldnt be judged by their appearance!Nice acting thow!

  • dude , this is from 1946

  • O i know- i meant that it seems as though phantom of the opera totally lifted a bunch of effects from this movie

  • C'est vraiment un chef d'oeuvre grace a Jean cocteau et aussi grace a Jean Marais!

  • lollllll

  • You beast!

  • Fabulous dresses created by the fabulous house of Paquin...

  • "Alors chere monsieur, vous volez mes roses, vous volez les roses que j'aime le plus au monde; vous pouviez tous prendre de chez moi, sauf mes roses, il se trouve que ce simple vole merite la mort!"

  • this movie inspired Stevie Nicks' song Beauty & The Beast:)

  • Can you post it again with the original sound. The voice of Jean Marais (the beast) in this movie is great.

  • MORE CLIPS! POST THE MOVIE PLEASE!!

  • This is from a great movie! realy great

  • Best version of Beauty & the Beast! Jean Cocteau really made an excellent film, with such great special effects. Especially for the small budget they had because of the war. this film, in my opinion, is better than so many of the crap movies coming out today that load their films with computerized special effects. This one is truly a masterpiece :D

  • Love the music on the background. :D

  • this was on tv the other nite!

  • lol the beast looks like a silly cat

  • You have to see this magnificently beautiful and poetic film. Cocteau was a artistic surrealist genius. In context yu'll find this film very magical and brilliant. But I don't like the music put over this trailer. The actual soundtrack is gorgeous

  • DO you have anymore clips of this movie????
