Also there is no explanation to the other dimensions taking place on the island. There were those GC that wanted union with Greece as there were TC who wanted the same with Turkey - Double Enosis. This was not shared by all on the island as a civil war was taking place. The TMT threatend TC to not deal with GC and EOKA B did the same to the GC. ALso Makarios was stocking up on weapons to counter the strength of the Greek army on the island which had already tried to assasinate him.
@lukiri . Makarios wanted ENOSIS as well. The diffrences he had with his opponents was the method. Greece wanted enosis fast, makarios tried to be more tactful. But the evidence is clear as shown in the video - supported by strong evidence.

As the President of an island with 80% GC and the fact that a percentage of them did want enosis he was not in a position to say an outright no. The EOKA-B which was formed later by a former leader of the EOKA, Grivas, with the goal was enosis with greece and the assassination of Makarios (because he had since stopped aiming for enosis). The Turkish action in Cyprus was not an unwarranted invasion. The Standing Committee of the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe ruled, July 29 1974, the "Turkey exercised its right of intervention in accordance with Article IV of the Treaty of Guarantee." Cyprus is over 600 miles away from Greece. It has never been under Greek rule through out history. Before the Ottomans arrived, it belonged to the Venetians. Turks have been on the island for over 500 years.

oops ran out of space. Also from what I remember the EOKA were freedom fighters opposing the British. The EOKA-B which was formed later by a former leader of the EOKA, Grivas, with the goal was enosis with greece and the assassination of Makarios (because he had since stopped aiming for enosis). They were pretty extreme and didn't have popular support.

truthfully imo videos like this dont really help anything. You make the greek-cypriots out to be barbarians when at the same time you can make a similarly convincing argument about the Turks. Both sides did pretty brutal things to each other, thier are plenty of cases of turkish troops killing/raping civilians. Its best to move on and try and fix the problems that exist now instead of pointing fingers.

Cyprus is the homeland of Cypriots (Greek & Turkish). Therefore, for this problem to be solved, Greece & Turkey must simply stay out of it. It's obvious that both Greece & Turkey are incapable of ending the dispute which they both created, so just stay out of it and let the Cypriots decided alone. Cyprus is a very capable independent country which can deal with it's own issues.

The Turkish action in Cyprus was not an unwarranted invasion. The Standing Committee of the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe ruled, July 29 1974, the "Turkey exercised its right of intervention in accordance with Article IV of the Treaty of Guarantee." Cyprus is over 600 miles away from Greece. It has never been under Greek rule through out history. Before the Ottomans arrived, it belonged to the Venetians. Turks have been on the island for over 500 years.

the north portion of Cyprus is occupied by turks. ever since 1974 There have been over 140000 turkish settlers and 40000 turkish soldiers moved in in violation of international law and the Geneva convention. Violating this provision of the geneva convention is considered a war crime. This occupied land is not recognized by any country other than turkey (the ones who invaded the island). Join the fight to remove Turkish settlers and Turkish troops from occupied North Cyprus.

Resolutions 541 and 550 were NOT mandatory as were the others cited as they were NOT made under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter and neither invoked article 25 of the Charter. The resolutions were passed as recommendations ONLY! This was done rather surreptitiously to promote greek propaganda because if they were made under Chapter VII and invoked article 25 it would NEVER of passed because Turkiye would have presented the evidence of greek Cypriot genocide against the Turks.

I notice most comments by Greeks say this is propaganda. I can assure you it is not. I lived in Cyprus when EOKA was active and when Makarios was in power. My father worked for British military intelligence and had first hand information about the fact that EOKA planned to unite Cyprus with Greece and planned to commit genocide against Turkish Cypriots. Some Greeks say atrocities were committed by both sides - yes 5% by Turks (in revenge for what the Greeks were doing), and 95% by Greeks.
