I think he meant modern liberalism, i.e., those on the Left, which is clear enough to understand. But I agree with your suggestion that there's an element of misinterpretation. The Left/modern liberals are anything but liberal. They are *illiberal*, if you judge them according to the classical definition. Moreover, in today's society, I can't think of very many other virtues the Left can claim... unless statism and atheism are the new virtues.

Did Ron's Sirius show get cancelled? It seems that whenever I tune in to listen to his show (which is very rarely, lately, due to my schedule), there's always someone else on. And it's the only thing on Sirius I find worthwhile, if it did get cancelled, I'd probably end my subscription. Also, he's an independent, not a Republican. He stands with Bush and McCain on foreign policy, but when it comes to domestic and social issues, he's really liberal. I love his show, he's so calm and reasoned
