@16vastraturbo Yes, but it is not recommended because one will be charged before the other and one will be discharged before the other...not a good setup at all but better than nothing at all.
Thank you very much Sal, I remember seeing the diagram for batteries there but now I can't find where it was ,, I also have the flexmax 80 it works very well, thanks again,
great video, I learned a lot from it ,, my question is ,,, I have 20 , 6v batteries, I need to double my amps, cam I series two and parallel two ( that makes 4) to stay at 12v ,,,, can I do that five times and then parallel them together ???
@terrybobb I will assume you will need to keep your voltage at twelve volts. Take a pair of batteries and connect them in series, then make another pair, etc. until you have ten pairs of batteries adding up to twelve volts. Then take the ten pairs of batteries and parallel them to each other. You will then end up with ten pairs of 12v batteries in parallel. I suggest you go to the Outback Power web site and look at the manual for their charge controller it has diagrams for batteries.
You can see at 4:00 he talks about people doubting how many batteries you can put in parallel. If anyone doubts it, please reference a old WW2 Submarines battery system, yup, this gentleman has it right in every way
does your flexmax controller for the harbor freight panels have a blocking diode bullt in ,why I ask with your first vidio before you up graded you showed a breaker followed by a blocking diode.
@darkeyes206 Yes they do block. The reason that old blocking diode was there was because of the wind turbine charge controller which did not have a blocking diode, I added one internally.
@ econepower Man, it's unbelieveable how some people would rather carry on about how great their system is compared to someone else's and in truth show everyone how truly hateful they are. I watch your videos to learn. I am a solar newbie but do have an electronics (not electrical) background. You have provided a great source of knowledge to people. It is a shame that there are so many haters on youtube. Carry on my friend. You are doing good deeds. I''ll be asking questions later.
Great system- Thanks for the info. - I made this same mistake once- hooking my draw at the end of the battery bank. I am now going to watch the rest of you clips.
I can see you know what you are doing and want to learn from you
@OTGproducts I thought your so damn smart scammy ? You should've known this why didn't you ? Just like you should've known that the 750 watt that you own is only a 500 watt PMM if you did your research, like I did, scammy, your not so smart are you ?
@TheBillythekid2010 Boy, are you full of hate TheBillythekid, we can all say even more about your own stupidity of defending a product that by your own videos clearly show that do not perform and makes you look so bad that you even make the comment that you don't want people to comment on the low output because you're happy with it. OTG products clearly showed those Missouri Wind and Solar turbines are junk and the new Windtura delivered the goods. Live with it and take your medicine.
@econewpower If you want to talk about hate, you hang with the king's of the hate crew ?! Maybe you should just see the hate you hang with and ask yourself, am I like them and why do I want to be a part of the hatecrew, if I a christian? And lets look at the big picture, those products are from bob from thermodyne, that I bought so his junk is junk and you associate with a member of the Hatecrew, so think of the christian in your and don't be apart of the HATECREW
@TheBillythekid2010 In your own previous videos you clearly stated they were from MW&S so either you are lying now or were lying then. Christians are the moral compass and restraining force in society, we do this by speaking out against evil and wrongdoing. Non-Christians confuse this with intolerance or hate, quite the contrary, Jesus told us to speak out, condemn evil and help those who need help. If Paypal forced MW&S to return his money why didn't MW&S do it willingly?
@TheBillythekid2010 Continued.... And by the way, don't come to my channel chasing scamsearcher, OTGproducts or anyone else you feel you have a vendetta with, I don't put up with hate and I speak out against all forms of hate, evildoing, wrongdoing, etc. You are BLOCKED!
@TheBillythekid2010: Anger is a killing thing: it kills the man who angers, for each rage leaves him less than he had been before - it takes something from him.
@KushK1D Impossible to tell you without knowing the type of batteries you have and the voltage you want from your battery bank. I use wet cells because I don't mind doing maintenance on my batteries and I don't have to worry about venting hydrogen, you should use AGM if you have issues venting or doing battery maintenance.
@darklen14 Yes, they are called AGM, short for Absorbed Glass Mat. Don't use regular sealed car batteries, you must use deep cycle AGM if you want maintenance free.
@darklen14 I should have added that yes, using regular maintenance free batteries will be very costly in the long run. Don't expect more than a handful of discharge cycles before they go bad. That's why you must invest in AGM maintenance free batteries or flooded deep cycle lead acid batteries.
@Yibitech Get a pure sine wave inverter, from AIMS, Samlex or Go Power brand, all are quite good - buy the largest one you can afford. For solar charger I saw what looked like a good 15A MPPT charge controller for $50 at eBay from a seller called greenenergytek. Try to get an MPPT charge controller because they will extract more power from your panel. Use a set of 6v golf cart batteries or solar batteries. God bless you.
Al, you have been a pleasure to watch as well as watch your labor of love come to fruition. It will almost be sad to see it finished, but knowing you something cool will come along and we can watch you with that project.
Thanks for all you have done for us small time Solar Guys, and the Big Time Guys as well
Al, I noticed you didn't talk about charge controllers and equalization. Good charge controllers dont need battery desulfators because they do their own equalization schedules. Battery life isn't necessarily limited to "being used or not being used", heat is a HUGE factor as well as time in general.
Everything is coming together nicely bro!! Keep up the good work!!!
@helloman1976 Equalization helps if you do it every 30 days or so, but if when drawing power down 50%, equalization won't help you much because all it does is try to dissolve the crystals that formed in the plates. Continuous desulfation PREVENTS the crystals by dissolving them as they are being formed. Cycling of the battery IS the biggest factor to lower battery life and why they are rated in number of cycles. Heat is not a big deal, my batteries are cooler than by car's engine under the hood
Let's say the grid goes down tomorrow. Can you go over what you need to do (throwing switches) and how long you can go before your batteries are depleted? Great videos!
i have a small solar kit and you have bin a lot of help to me can you please make a video about you outback and the best place to get all thr stuff you have thanks for your time
@depravedpuma You'll see, it's complicated to explain. There will be a low voltage battery disconnect that will remove power from the inverter, thus causing loss of AC on one side of the IOTA relay which causes the relay to actuate and switch to primary commercial power. When the battery voltage raises back up then it transfers back to inverter power. I may not use that and instead use a diversion circuit as I don't want to cycle my batteries. We'll see how it ends up, it's work in progress.
Another great video Al. Lots of good information in this one. Man you are making the rest of us solar guys look bad with all the equipment you have. lol. Looking good brother. Take care and God bless.
Really enjoy your vids, thanks. May I add a suggestion? Living in the south as you do and the temps you see in the summer, I would think you should leave a little more spacing between each of your battery for cooling affect. Just a thought.
@apaulanarius The batteries in golf carts and other vehicles get much less cooling and they are ok under load. Remember that my batteries will be fully charged and only drain off very little power when diverting from full, thus I don't expect a heat load to worry about. Your comment is wise if I were to put them under a heavy or continuous load as the heat really gets created upon discharge. Thanks for bringing it up, it is a very good comment.
