  • Its funny how all the Eagles "miracles" happen in regular season games, and the Giants "miracles" happen in Superbowls ... do you notice the difference? of course you do!

  • Three words for Joe Pisarcik...TAKE A KNEE!

  • Boy, have the G-men come a loooooooong way since then!

  • best thing to happen for the Giants!!They languished in mediocrity for years and after this play the heads started to roll !!! First thing they did was hire George Young who in turn drafted Phil Simms. The rest they say is history

  • @jayinmaine WRONG!!! First thing was NFL forced Miami Dolphins to give George Young to Giants. BEST THING was when New Orleans Saints head coach Bum Phillips, with the 1st pick in '81 Draft passed on LT. THE REST IS AS YOU SAY HISTORY!!!

  • Intro should not be longer than the clip itself...fail

  • Incredibly dumb!

  • This play benefit two teams. The Giants hired Ray Perkins and drafted Phil Sims in1979. Little known fact, Perkins hired an obscure assistant name Bill Bellichick . John McVay went to the 49ers and helped Bill Walsh build a dynasty.

  • @mvpress That's amazing not even being sarcastic

  • but but but, the eagles won the nost NFC east championships in the 2000s. but but but the eagles had 2 miracles at the meadowlands..... but but but the eagles were in the NFCCG 4 straight times.... lol philly fanjs cling to ANYTHING they can to brag when in realty they are sour that they have never won it all. i sleep easy knowing i myself own as many super bowl rings as the philadelphia eagles

  • @BronxBomberNation Giants SuperBowl Wins - 4

    Eagles SuperBowl Wins - 0

Giants Attendance at SuperBowls - 5

Eagles Attendance at SuperBowls - 2

  • Some years latter: giants: 4 superbowls Eagles: ZERO

  • all them giants fans try and make it seem like it was no big deal, but we all know how great this play was and that whenever a new york fan sees it they die a little inside :)

  • @MrBrucey33 Was 2005 a bad year for you?

  • As I recall, lots of teams handed the ball off with the game in hand. It wasn't until after this play that everyone started to kneel.

  • That's the Eagles. Always winning the small ones against the Giants...while the Giants win the Big Ones in January and February. Hopefully the Eagles had a good angle on their wide screens a couple of weeks ago.

  • @ChrisDutch Fuck you, Eagles are the greatest fucking team in the nfl.

  • @Slaphoof No, no, no, you've got it wrong. The Eagles are the greatest DREAM team in the NFL...as in their wet dreams. As for fucking me who do you think you are, Larry Craig?

  • @Slaphoof lol so the greatest NFL team has ZERO superbowls? wow they are the best

  • The Giants were terrable during the 70s.

  • 1960. That is all.

  • haha giants four superbowl wins since eagles zero it was a miracle for The giants

  • I wonder what Joe Buck would sound like calling this game?

  • This is probably the last time anything went right for Herm Edwards on a football field.

  • Im no genius, but WHY WOULDNT THE GIANT QB JUST TAKE A KNEE? A "GIANT IDIOT" MISTAKE!

  • @TheOusooner56 No one did that back then... but they started too very soon after.

  • @JustinCase10261 no it's only 0:32 worth of bullshit. the fact that they were rolling the end credits on what was a done-deal giants win right before this play is important. it's what makes this so epic

  • if i had a dollar for every pixel on the video, i'd have 1 dollar.

  • Why would Giant fans watch this.

  • Comment removed

  • This is an omen that the Patriots will win the 2012 Superbowl, that and the fact that the Giants are extremely mediocre.

  • @TheNorgate LOL you wish. LOL

  • @TheNorgate LOL! An omen that happened 33 years ago? You're really reaching now

  • GREATEST PLAY IN GIANTS HISTORY! PARCELLS WAS HIRED THE NEXT YEAR PARTLY BECAUSE OF THIS. P.S.- LOVE HERM EDWARDS.....OH YEAH IM A DALLAS FAN .BOTH THESE TEAMSSUCK!!!!!

  • @douglas69ification Parcells was hired as the defensive coordinator in 1979, but resigned before the season started. He did not become the head coach of The Giants until 1983

  • It turned out to be one of the GREATEST plays in New York Giants history.

As a result of this play, the Giants built a winning team that lasts to this day.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Blame Offensive Coordinator Bob Gibson. He was an arrogant jerk and Obama supporter!

  • @misplacednewyawker agreed for all you g fans out there just think this play lead to the hiring of ray perkins which lead to u guys deafeting the eagles plus winning today plus 3maybe 4 superbowl vics so it was more a miracle for u guys as opposed to the eagles who to this day still havent won an sbowl

  • 3 times!!! defence then westbrook then desean how many times do we have to keep on treating them like this till they understand we are better then them how many times!!! and they made a movie about us whats up!!! fly eagles!!! baddest bird in the world!!

  • Take heart Giant fans. By losing that game, the Giants were able to secure Phil Simms with the 7th pick overall in the April draft and the rest is history. One could argue that this lose was the chain of events to get the Giants a couple of SB wins and better head coaches; As the coach was fired the next day.

  • what if it were done on purpose?

  • Credit this play with the eventual turn around for the Giants. The O-coordinator, the coach and the general manager were all fired, George Young came in and built the team to what it would become in the 80's.

  • Money grubbing Larry Csonka should have never left the Miami Dolphins. Instead of achieving more rushing yards, more rushing TDs, and more playoff opportunities, he wasted 3 good years of his life in New Jersey and will always be tainted by this bumbling play.

  • @SirReal1958 The QB clearly was at fault hear not the fullback. This fumble is

not a reflection on Czonka. Calling a reverse pivot on the final play of the game

is just stupid. The coaching staff bumbled this play. Actually I blame the QB toofor not

changing the play. A simple knee would have ended the game.

  • Odd as it may seem, simple knees were not used very often back then. I guess it was a manly thing, as if to imply that was the safe way to win a game and thus you were chicken shit. But, IMMEDIATELY after this it became very commonplace. This may be the lowest moment in Giants' history. The fan reaction was very hostile. 34 years and four Super Bowl wins later, fans of Big Blue can look back on this and laugh a little. To find out about the background to the play go to wikepedia

  • and type in "The Miracle at the Meadowlands". You'll get a better understanding as to why the QB didn't change the play and the immediate and long-term repercussions of this game.

  • @SirReal1958 Csonka left Dolphins for short lived World Football League, not Giants. I agree with you though he should of stayed in Miami. I am big Fin fan and as kid, it crushed me for my favorite player to leave.

  • The announcer was wrong in saying the QB didn't get the snap, the center exchange was fine, but when Pisarcik turned, the ball scraped between him and Csonka, coming loose.

  • this is that new hd stuff people are talkin bout right???

  • I'm a Giants fan, but this play will always be a laughingstock in our history.

    What were they thinking?

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Why would you not just neel down. lol what a moronic and funny play. good job on the video.

  • Yeah 1978 when Football was interesting, Tackles were deadly and cheerleaders knew how to throw a ball over 70 yards..

  • Joe Pisarcik's fumble is one of the first things that comes to mind when I think of the epitome of bumbling incompetence.

  • @cvjucla3 The Giants are the first thing that comes to mind when I think of the epitome of bumbling incompetence. Oh yeh, Eagles suck. lol The dream team..

  • I.Hate.the.Eagles.

  • Neat to see the Giants wearing basically Buffalo Bills jerseys here.

  • This is where i wish Gus Johnson was an announcer back then

  • E. A. G. L. E. S....IGGLES!!!!

  • Giants suck

  • If I remember correctly, this also cost the Packers a playoff spot also...

practically all of the offensive coaches for the Giants were fired the next day

  • they weren't allowed to kneel down back then?

  • @Varangian1915 offensive co-ord was worried about the qb being hurt and called a hand off. NFL network ftw!

  • Don Criqui reading the credits. As the great English "football" broadcaster Kenneth Wolstenholme would have put it, "They think it's all over!" But as Yogi Berra (whose son Tim played pro football) would say, "It ain't over 'til it's over!"

  • Wow... this video is ancient.... no first down marker, no score bug... we are spoiled.

I remember hearing that a cop was asking "Is that legal...?" Someone on the sideline responded, "Well... they're kicking the extra point."

  • Giants coach: good game, good game,go... WHAT THE FFFFFUUUUUUUU!!!!!!! HOW DO YOU DROP THE BALL AND LET THE EAGLES WIN!!!!!!

  • LOL!!! The clip is worth watching all the way through, They ran the credits too early.

  • philip rivers

  • "You play to win the game!"

  • a real miracle would be the eagles winning a superbowl. giants won 3 since this game.

  • @homicidal1 Thats a miracle right there...

  • why didnt he just knee it? or was that illegal back then

  • @teamhighhoe kneeing it started the next week.

  • @teamhighhoe cause he kept getting hit

  • 1:02 worth of shit before it actually gets to the play....if the fucking video is only a minute 41 then just fucking skip the beginning bullshit and show 40 seconds of the fucking video...that was retarded.

  • @JustinCase10261 you dont like it then why watch it you should have just shut it off and been done with it instead of coming here and whining about it ya slimy motherfuckin`, cocksuckin` jew bastard

  • @JustinCase10261 Shut up. it's nice to see "the miracle" in the context it happened. Showing credits. Announcers declaring game over & too bad Eagles couldn't keep their playoff hopes alive.

  • @JustinCase10261 Shut the fuck up you whining bitch.

  • @JustinCase10261 0:32 of shit, seeing the credits run and listening to the announcer say how the eagles playoff chances are basically over is worth it lol

  • @JustinCase10261 All that stuff at the beginning is to illustrate the point that this game was basically over when the 'Miracle' took place.

  • @JustinCase10261 What's retarded is an 'individual' who

complains, rather than thank someone who made the

    effort to share something interesting.

You expect alot considering you offer so little!

  • @JustinCase10261 yeah but the 30 seconds of buddys ACDC music was priceless lol

  • @Kobe6xchamp Vick's TD passes made the game tied up at 31-31

  • well, as herman edwards HIMSELF would later say: "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!" the miracle in the meadowlands was the VERY first nfl blooper i remember watching. i will ALWAYS associate herman edwards more with the philadelphia eagles, mainly because of the miracle and because he AND joe piscarcik would help the eagles win the nfc championship in 1980. GREAT PLAY!!!

  • WHAT

    A

    FAIL

    LOL

  • This game is why they do kneel-downs, or "The Victory Formation" today

  • @BlackDynamiteNYC He kneeled on the previous down. The offensive coordinator called a hand-off. I reckon the coordinator is a moron.

  • @voslyn I hope not. He just made me a Big Mac!

  • Vicks miracle was way better one of the greatest games I've ever seen and one of the greatest comebacks in any sports. But this was also amazing..... go Mike vick after all his faults he rose up and bavame an amazing man and my hero

  • Hell yeah

  • F*** the giants... GO BIRDS!!!

  • @TheWetPoodle well I found this vid out of nowhere but at least I witnessed my boy D-Jack do that nice GW Punt return TD against the new York ginas

  • 30+ years later and the giants still haven't solved their turnover issues. ZING!

  • @phillyphisig721 33 years later the Giants have 3 Lombardi trophies. How many do the Eagles have...?

All thanks to this play too. The Birds actually did the Giants a kindness. Without this play there is no George Young, Bill Parcells, LT, etc.

  • Wow, I'm an eagles fan and I didn't even know bout this play

  • @95ELYT then u rlly arent an eagles fan r u cuz this is one of the most defining plays in eagles history

  • The Game was fixed, under 30 seconds left and 2nd down, just take a knee.

  • What the fuck

  • My memory is foggy now but there was no knee taken or victory formation until this play happened. I may be wrong. There was a 45 secong clock back then that started at the spot of the ball you just ran a play into the guard 2 times and would run the game out. One just had to hold on to the ball

  • The Merrill Reese call is way better. I don't believe it!

  • they weren't playing TO WIN THE GAME HELLO?..........

  • Why didn't they just kneel?

  • @Fanatic2020 I read somewhere that the Giants coach at the time considered it to be an unsporting play. I guess he changed his principles pretty damn quickly after that :-)

  • @eclectica1 what a moron...

  • @eclectica1 The Giants coach at the time lost his job over that play. As did everyone in football operations. This play actually was the turning point in Giants history -- it sparked a huge fan revolt which forced the Maras to put George Young in control of the football operations. Without this play, the Parcells Era never happens.

  • @MikeChuk21 Oh well, all's well that ends well :-)

  • @Fanatic2020 Pisarcik was told by his 0-coordinator Bob Gibson to hand it off. As a result of this play, Gibson was fired and never worked as a coach (or had any job) in the NFL again and Joe Pisarcik was run out of town. And it took the Giants years (early to mid- 1980s) to rebuild and become relevant again.

  • After the game, Herman Edwards said, "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!"

  • Herm Edwards Played to win the game! Thumbs UP!!!

  • Csonka blew ass. what an overrated piece of garbage! burn in hell!

  • @HaulinHearse

Um, if you knew anything about football, you would know that Csonka actually begged the quarterback not to give him the ball and just to kneel it. You would also know that the fumble occurred because of a slightly botched snap. Do some research next time...

  • Great vid and nice choice in music. AC/DC!

  • HAHAHAHA!

  • Anyone thought that Jimmy Hoffa might've had a hand in the game?

  • You play to win the game, Hello?!? , YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME...

  • This was actually the best thing that ever happened for the Giants, because it was a catalyst that led to the hiring of Parcell and the drafting of Lawrence Taylor.

  • i this play is why Herm Edwards went on that rant about "You Play To Win The Game"...and you know what, i do in fact play to win

  • that must have been embarassing

  • CBS was so sure the game was over, they were running the credits. Surprise!

"Under 30 seconds to play, and there is nothing the Eagles can do about it, and Piscarcik fumbles the football! It's picked up by Herman Edwards! 15! 10! 5! Touchdown, Eagles! I don't believe it! I don't believe it!" -- Merrill Reese

"You play to win the game!" -- Herman Edwards

  • Thats why they take the knee today LMAO CTFU

  • mad with iMovie?

  • @DJskidoo48 Yes!

  • @TheGridironfilms the real miracle of when teh eagles were respectable... dont liek them now since firing a handicap guy for disagreeing with managment and signing vick, befor ethat mys econbd favorite team, my first always was, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

  • Pwned

  • Love the dirty jazz at the beginning!

  • It should be noted that at the time, Pisarcik could not kneel to run out the clock because the play clock was only 30 seconds, instead of the 40 that it is today. This play started with 31 seconds left.

If Gibson were smart though, he would have told Pisarcik to dance around as long as he could and then go down.

  • @AEMoreira81 Fuck are you talking about. The play clock is still 30 seconds.

  • @bangitslo actually it is 40 seconds now

  • @AEMoreira81 My Bad.

  • @AEMoreira81 they could still run the clock out. The play clock starts when the ball is spotted, not when immediately when the play ends.

  • I don't believe what I just saw!!!

  • @rayytaylor18 he might have ran the play that the coach called, but he didn't execute it properly. It looks like the rb didn't know what hole to run in and came inside a little too close. As a qb holding the ball out in a play like this, you have to be prepared and pull that ball back in if the play breaks down. I'm not saying it's his fault 100%, but he has to take some of the blame, the ball came out if his hands.

  • Wow, just watched a clip of Tom Dempsey's 63 yard FG to beat the Lions and Don Criqui was the announcer for that as well. I can only imagine all of the crazy chit that guy's witnessed over all these years.

  • Ok guys we all no this involves joe pisarcik and i just wanted to let you no that it is not his fault he wanted to kneel on the ball but of course his coach wanted him to do something else and anyone who has ever played sports knows you listen to coach if u wanna play and how i know this is i know joe pisarcik personally hes my stepdad

  • "wait a minute here's a FRAY FLY I DON'T BELIEVE IT!"

  • Thank you all for watching. If you've enjoyed, take a look in our new video, The Miracle at the NEW Meadowlands, with eagles fans celebrating at the stadium and at bars in Phily.

  • defiantly not as exciting as the miracle at the new meadowlands, but you have to love when the Eagles beat the Giants

  • Don Cruiqi is the annoucer

  • taking a knee wouldn't kill the clock incidentally in the rules at the time.

  • @nightskytube

there wouldve been 1 second left. so the game was still over really

  • @nightskytube I thought Pisarcik was told to hand the ball off by his coordinator. . . the play was devastating on so many levels. . look how long it took the Giants to get over this. It took them years to rebuild.

  • This one is more shocking than the Desean Jackson punt return. This game was over, credits rolling, fat lady singing. The recent game was tied, and the Giants still had to give away the ball and give the eagles one last chance. If he punted out of bounds, the eagles would still get a shot.

  • lol imagine if Gus Johnson was commentating this! "Pisarcik hands off the bal--- OMG WHAT HAS HAPPENEND OMG THIS UNBELIVABLE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *orgasm on the mic* ARE YOU KIDDING ME! EAGLES TOUCHDOWN EAGLES TOUCHDOWN!"

    lol we love you gus

  • i love how they already rolled the credits thinking there was no hope

  • Professional football has seen stranger things occurred in time. This classic would be rated a 12 in the books.

  • i love that old sportscenter theme, it kicks ass!

  • I will ALWAYS love Herm Edwards for this one play, even after his less than great run with the Jets

  • MM I: Pisarcik/Edwards

    MM II: Clyde Simmons/blocked FG

    MM III: Westbrook

    MM IV: Vick/DeSean ...

  • @abiwhale MM IV is considered The Miracle at the New Meadowlands, not The Miracle at the Meadowlands 4

  • @abiwhale Nah. What Made Miracle at the Meadowlands and Miracle at the New Meadowlands stand out from the 2 between those is that they were literally the finisher of the game. Westbrook's punt return still left a minute on the clock so there was some chance for a come back.

  • @abiwhale This is true. You can ALWAYS count on something strange and bizarre to happen in Giants-Eagles games. How weird is that?

  • please tell me this game was FIXED. Damn mafia.

  • If you would like to buy actual.professionally shot film footage, still on an old fashioned small projector reel of this play (NOT an off-TV kinescope copy, but an actual film clip of this miracle play), just each me at mwprods@rcn.com.

  • i was at the game today! 28 points in 7 minutes to beat the BIG BLUE

  • This is actually Miracle III. Wesbrook's punt return was Miracle II

  • Miracle at the new meadowlands just happened today!!

  • Eagles vs Giants game just ended! Eagles: 37 Giants:31. Miracle at the Meadowlands PART 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @shmailey87 YEAH DIE HARD EAGLES PHAN WE R BEAStIE!!!!

  • The half-back did know that he was supposed to take the hand off. He didn't want to though. They had to call a run play because on the previous kneel down, the Eagles players knocked down the giants QB. The offensive coordinator didn't want the players to get in a fight and stop the clock and lose yards so he called a run play

  • Man, Piss-archik was such a piece of crap. I hated him as our QB. The miracle in the Meadowlands was thx to this jackass.

  • What's the big deal? Eli can't hold on to the ball either.

  • Fail big time lol

  • Was it not common for teams to not kneel down in 1978, because if it's just the Giants fumbling , thats bad but not if they could kneel down.

  • @clubhouseme It was very common. csonka had no idea it was suppose to be a handoff.

  • its not the "miracle in the meadowlands... its the FUMBLE!!! (yes I am a giants fan)

  • the darkest moment in giants history

  • @PainStation3 It sure was.

  • herman edwards summed it up best when he said "that's why you play to win the game"!

  • great memories go birdz

  • organized crime in action

  • letss goo herm!
