Why the fuck don't they just standardise the gaps pn all or most cars or eles make them in batches for that particular models. If it costs a little more in production like 50 cents a plug the hell \I'll pay instaed of pricking around with a measure
at the 8min mark ,thats my problem i cant get the new plugs in, like the threads dont match up ,so frusterating! any tips? oil or somthing? i thought i had it but i was way crooked /cut wrists
Thank you so much for the video. Where you helped me was the tip on removing the ratchet when installing the new plugs. I was trying to install with the ratchet and I was becoming frustrated, the plug wouldn't thread. I watched your video and tried installing one without the ratchet, and it worked the first time. Thanks!
This guy is teaching just enough so that the shade tree mechanic will make a mess and will wind up paying even more for a professional to do the clean up.
its a good idea to mark or somehow identify what wire came off what plug, that way when you reattach you wont mess up your firing order. I usually just take one off at a time, and change them one at a time so I know I dont get confused.
i have question i really need help on this cuz i alrdy spend alot of money my headgasket blown i change it to new one head gasket and all ruber in valve cover with my friend then
my spark plugs i dont know wat to do theres oil on it what i need to do to start my car is honda 1992 hatchback please help me

so i see these tutorials and everyone removing all the wires at once. is there a reason or could you just remove and replace one spark plug at a time that way you won't cross wires or forget which goes where?
i'ma Mazda owner (94 MX6 LS)...and your vid was the 1st vid i watched on how change plugs up here and i have to say you did a good job explaining...very good A+....now its my turn...be safe man...

I'm sorry, I don't have much experience with trucks. Transmission oil usually isn't that hard to change, but I don't have any knowledge about that particular truck. Do a google search, best advice I can give.
I can't say for sure without knowing why type of plugs those are. As I stated in the video though, you should always stick to the plugs suggested by the manufacturer.
not really with premium you feel the difference like you actually did a tune up, i just dont want to waste my time gapping all 6 spark plugs, and some already come gapped
hey i appreciate your video, I did my plugs and wires, but my wires that snap on the plugs didn't cover the entre plug up to the manifold. it still shows 1/2 inch or so. Then i started my car, and the intake manifold started smoking !!?? just thought i would see if you knew anything about it. oh and the old spark plugs were fine, just looked worn, i looked at the pictures of different things to look for in the old spark plugs. ???? thanx
The smoke may have just been from some oil that was in the plug holes burning off. Are you sure you used the correct plugs and have the correct plug wires. The plug wires should seat correctly onto the plug and cover the valve cover opening.
thank you soooooooo much, it was just oil burning off. lol I never did it before and i just knew i would mess up, but I didnt. I did notice some dry rotted hoses though that i am changing out today. thanx again!!!!!! xoxo
Changing spark plugs may help your car run better, but it may not completely fix that problem if something more serious is going wrong. You say that this happens when the rpms are low. If they go really low, like below 700rpm, it could just be that you have your idle set too low. Otherwise I would suspect a sensor. Possibly the Fast Idle valve or EAC valve or the coolant temp sensor.
So I have a 91 accord and when I shift gears, if the rpms are a little low, the car sputters a bit then sort of "catches on"(if you will). My friends dad said that their could be a sensor broken in the engine or something, I dont know that much about car. Will changing the spark plugs result in a better performance?
what happens if the gap is too big. i have a 91 accord and i bought new plugs and it says to gauge it to 1.1 milimeter but when i took it out of the package to was already gauged to about 1.8 mm
PS -- I couldn't not say anything about the accent. Aboot and PREE-lude. At least now I don't feel so bad when people talk about my southern Alabama accent! LOL All in fun brother, all in fun!
LOL! Exactly right! A friend and I stopped in at a local Subway restaurant one afternoon. We were in the Prelude. There was a kid working there, he was maybe 17 and he looked out the window at the Prelude and he said "Man that's a nice PREElude, I have always wanted a PREElude... and we just cracked up! His wasn't an accent issue though...he just was pronouncing it wrong. To this day, when my friend and I are out and see a Prelude we look at each other and say "NICE PREE-LUDE" .. LOL
Excellent video -- one thing that I suggest, which I don't believe you mention, is the use of a small amount of anti-seize lubricant around the base of each plug before installing.
I use Permatex Anti-Seize Lubricant.
Makes a good seal, keeps water out, prevents cold welding and you're pretty much guaranteed that the plug will be easy to remove next time around.
most of the time honda motors are really easy to work on meaning doing the usual maintanance but dont gap spark plugs that have a small tip cuz this will cause the spark plug to break good vid
Good point. I would add though that you should never end up with a fine point spark plug on a Honda Prelude if you follow the suggested plug list on the engine. Thanks for your comment.
Hey man, this video was very helpful.. I follow your tips. i have a 94 Honda Civic DX. After gapping the plugs in installing i was still unable to start the car initially. However the next day, i said a lil prayer, and it started right up. No one than i did notice was there was a small amount of oil in the second cylinder plug chamber. Could that of been what was prevents the spark? and is that something major that i should be concerned about.
Not a big concern, but yes, it may have affected the spark. The spark plug grounds through the threads into the cylinder head. If the threads are too gooed up to carry a current then you may have trouble getting a good spark. Doesn't hurt to clean the area out.
Rember it could also be the wires attached to the spark plug. They are made with carbon and the carbon can break through wear, then gaps can occur and every time you start your engine they gaps increase. Best way is to check them with an ohmmeter to check for correct currency flow. Just a thought
Thanks for the vid. I changed the sparkplugs in my 96 Civic. So happy I didn't have to get towed to a shop! You saved me a lot of hassle! 185,000 and still ticking!
Thank you Thank you for this great video on changing spark plugs. My son look at your video and wrote down all the steps to change the sparks plugs. He did it and he felt so proud that he could do this by following each step as you have provided in this Excellent Video. He has a honda and seeing how you did it It came easy for him to do because he has never ever change spark plugs until today 2009 ! He was so proud to have mastered this task because Of your Great Video and caring.
Very glad that you found the video useful. Tell your son to keep on learning about cars, and if he has a Prelude, he should join preludedriver website. I'll be posting more videos so stay tuned.
Today when I turned my key, my car didnt even turn on the electricity. I dont think its the battery because I replaced it earlier this year. Could it be the spark plugs?
No, you likely have some other electrical problem. It could be your ignition switch. If your car is a Prelude, stop by PreludeDriver and get help on our forum.
It turned out to be my negative battery ground was loose on the battery. I tightened it up real good and now my car is powering up with no problems :D! Thanks for the advice man

I have never changed spark plugs before and want to change them on my 1990 Mustang 5.0. I was wondering if you have to disconnect the battery before taking out the first spark plug.
Most sparkplugs do come pre gapped and you should always do one at a time and not just pull all the wires and plugs at one time

OK, two things: You don't use a 5/8" socket as Hondas are METRIC, and it's a good idea to do one plug at a time so you don't mix up the wires.
