why is my favorite Radiohead song a song that NO ONE knows? I mean it makes me feel cooler than if it were "Creep" but I want SOMEONE to know it SOMETIMES
i wonder if this song is based on true events. Was Thom Yorke at a wedding were a drunk guy became belligerent and picked a fight? Irregardless, a great song on a great album. The Bends is still my favorite album but Hail to the Thief is a close second.
i read somewhere that it was written in response to a bad concert review they got. a drunken punch up at a wedding is an analogy for someone who ruined something that was a great event for others.
interesting. Ya know that would make perfect sense. "You had to piss on our parade, you had to ruin it for all of us." Well thank you. I learned something new :-)
also the reference to journalists as hypocrites and opportunists, like sharks waiting to tear him apart. we all know thom has a love/hate relationship with the press. this song is a great example of thom's writing style. usually it's not meant to be taken literally, nor is it too abstract that you can't figure out what he's trying to say. a great, in-between kind of lyricist.
I think I like that opening guitar line that goes throughout the song better than on the studio version. It kinda makes me wish it was on the version on Hail to the Thief.
this song is so funky!! one of the reasons which Radiohead is so amazing, they are so versatile, they can mix different styles and make something wonderful
i think u are back wards, maybe cold play has a song that sounds like radiohead, wow go figure, a coldplay song that sounds like radiohead, i think u should be listening to radiohead before coldplay son, thats like saying ,wow the beatles have a song that sounds like oasis.
dude, something catastrophic happened to me. I was hanging out with this amazing girl who i really like and i play you and whose army in my car, she says
"who SINGS this song?", i go "well, the band who PERFORMS this song is radiohead",
"oh, radiohead... 'I love radiohead', they do creep don't they". You might as well have stabbed me right there haha.
I then preceded to cry inside. I mean, not even radiohead likes creep haha.
ye man i love radiohead but creep is a terrible song, tho we have a lot to thank it for as that song proppeled them into stardom and we probs wouldnt have the beautiful music they made after that without it
Let's get one thing straight... I'll agree that Creep (or anything on Pablo Honey, for that matter) is no match for the music Radiohead created later in their career, but Creep is not a terrible song. If it weren't for that song, Radiohead wouldn't have ever been given a chance by record labels. I must agree with thejugglenaut though, it really bothers me when someone says, "Oh Radiohead, they do Creep right?". What about Pyramid Song, Let Down, Nude or one of their other brilliant songs?
i agree for me at the end of the day though pablo honey is my least fave radiohead album it is far superior to 99.9 % of other music and creep i think is a top song so yeah long rule radiohead
@floyd0murphy What if I love all three? and many of Radiohead's other songs.. Like Idioteque, Subterranean Homesick Alien, Let Down, and Just.. All of which are FUCKING AMAZING!
dearest youtuber, i'm real sorry! I made the comment when i had only just starting listening to radiohead, so please don't shout at me :S I retract my comment and I will know say: "I know a Coldplay song that sounds like Radiohead" I'm fully aware that Radiohead were around before Coldplay and that they're influenced and fans of Radiohead. It was just the first thing that came to mind when i heard this song.
Played live this song is so much more attractive!!! I had no idea. There there and 2+2=5 are my absolute favorites of that album. Also people who havent yet heard the B-side of hail to the thief, YOU MUST check out "i am a wicked child" on youtube. It's absolutely brilliant, and i still find it sad why it wasn't a main publish but a B-side. But then again, this isn't the 1st time they published an absolute masterwork as second grade, lol.
i'd say being a B-side doesn't mean it's "second grade" rather wouldn't fit on the album? i mean if they thought it was second grade they probably wouldn't publish it at all....just my two cents

Nothing ruins live recordings more than obnoxious audience members
