I don't understand why everyone has to talk shit, Ryan is one of the nicest kids I knew growing up. He was in lions den wrestling since I first knew him in the 1st grade. Besides he rocked his opponent. No need to hold him to a higher standard because of his lineage.
I thought Ryan shamrock debuted at cage rage? How many fights has he had? Why is he so scrawny. Kens never been a skinny guy and im sure he does some kind of weight training if he trains for lions den
Dude really needs to learn some shit from Frank and Ken.....So that guy is actually a real Shamrock? Did they say he was Shamrocks first born? Cus I know Frank and Ken are adopted. Weird how they look alike.
Awesome, I look forward to a new shamrock to carry on the legacy. Ken, and Frank have both contributed so much to the development of MMA in the early 90's. In my opinion I feel the Shramrocks are up there with the Gracies
with ken as his dad you'd think he'd be a little bigger, 155-170, even at 18yrs old. it would be nice if he would be successful in carrying the shamrock name into the 21st century. ken and frank were great in their prime but the sport of fighting has evolved a lot in the past several years and sadly many of our 90's fighting heroes have been left behind including ken and frank. by the way, how tall is this kid? i saw a picture of him with ken, based on the pic he looks 5'8"-5'9"? am i right?
I love the Shamrocks Franks one of my favorite fighters but i think in order for Ryan Shamrock to unleash his full potential he should go to a different team like Urijah Faber's camp or American Top Team.
nace una leyenda, el hijo de Ken, q grande!!! es excelente, me imagino en unos años, aparte tiene mi misma edad, auqnue le falta gimnasio ,es muy larva
That was just his first fight. Give him more time to train, lift weights, gain experience, etc. hes still young with lots of potential. plus im sure he could beat anybodys ass since hes trained with his dad
I don't enjoy watching too much amateur mma, especially lower weight divisions.
Guys come out and swing for anything, good or bad and then spin like a top when they grapple on the feet. Swingin like that is great but they do it so recklessly like they are on the school playground, too anxious, I mean you are still trying to win a fight.
Good performance overall - he showed wrestling, ground and pound and several submission attempts - aside from that moment shortly before the end it was a pretty one-sided fight.
Ken actually has 3 sons and one daughter from his first wife and 3 step kids from his current wife. Ryan might just be the first of many more of Ken's offspring to fight in MMA someday. What's really funny is that Ryan Shamrock was the name of his WWE "sister" back when Ken wrestled. A former stripper he dated. Wonder what Ryan (son) thinks about the storyline. LOL
Ryan looked excellent, dominated the fight except when he went for the leg lock, took a few shots, but he controlled the fight, kept the guy on his back, and hit him with some pretty decent shots, tried a few subs. i do agree that he needs to hit the weights like whoa, but he is only 132lbs, i think thats what they said... im impressed... i didnt even know Ken he had a son untill today. He's a work in progress, expect good things in the future for Ryan
I don't see what yall are complaining about. That was a great fight. If anything the opponent doesn't look pro. But as for Shamrock, he was doing submissions that are fairly difficult, especially when someone is hitting you in the face. The only reason the other guy could randomly escape is the fast pace they were going. Give the kid a break it was his first fight. I think he looked very pro. Of course not UFC level yet, but if i had to put my money on any amature...
considering he's had open access to top training all his life he didin't look as good as i'd expect him to be. but obviously he's a work in progress so we'll see
Hey, the kid is out there putting it on the line, going for submissions and going hard. So for that he gets props. I think he should really focus on getting good on the ground, do some tournaments, etc..... Then go into mma and see what happens.
that didnt look like a pro fight, well, he is just starting and just 19 years old, Im looking forward to see how he grows in the sport. I bet it's not easy to be ken shamrock's son.
Good job i'd say.Don't want to offend the KEN fans but his son actually tried to use diff skills instead of relying on pumping weights. His son also looks to have some good cardio albeit the fight was short, again something KEn lacked.
With some great skill training i think his son has great potential.Get him off to ST.pierre's camp before it's nothing but roids and weights.
lots of potential he work the ring like ken youstoo do it when ufc started, he just needs stronger leg work ans he will be good plus hes young so he got lots of work to do but hes got plenty potential. another legend on the making
Nice armbar, but I feel his grappling is really lose. Not criticizing, as I have the same problem, but he doesn't put enough pressure down. A player with a moderate wrestling game would of foresaw too many opportunities to capitalize. Great takedown though!
This kid looks good so far. Very strong for the take down. Great Armbar...anybody who doesn't see that doesn't know bjj. Great transitions except for giving up pos on the heel hook. Sloppy but powerful punching. Kids gonna be good, especially if metzger can help with the stand up.
I think that he looked ok for his FIRST fight. He'll get better and the armbar didn't look sloppy. The way he went for it was textbook, but he had it locked in nicely and maybe could have finished it. Overall, I think he did well. You guys should give him a break. He's only 19 and was fighting his first fight. At least he had the balls to get in there and compete. Most people can't even say that much about themselves.
So did Carlos Newton, but consider this. Vitor was training in boxing years before that. Vitor and Carlos were both training in jiu jitsu years before their debuts at 19. From what I've read Ryan Shamrock just decided not too long ago that he wanted to fight so he hasn't had as much training time by the age of 19 as some people. I don't care who your father is, just because your father is in the game doesn't mean you HAD to grow up training and competing. Just my thoughts.
Whoever thinks this performance was solid is a fool. This submission attempts were absolutely amateurish. It was a bad armbar attempt, bad heel hook attempt; however, the guillotine wasn't bad. Ken's son must've been most of his lifetime smoking pot instead of training.
I don't see how anyone can not be impressed with that! I was completely amazed and awed! The reason the other guy seemed so bad is because Ryan was so aggressive and quick to the moves he never gave him a chance to do anything. I thought he looked really really good. Like he was letting the guy out of stuff just so he could go to the next move and show his full repertoire.
For a first fight, he looked solid. Some of his submissions were sloppy, particularly the armbar, but what impressed me was he ever stayed in a bad position for long, and he always knew where he was heading next. After the armbar failed, he transitioned to top. After the heelhook failed he transitioned to a whizzer and nailed the guy. SO I give him massive props for keeping his cool and making smart choices in a first fight. That's rare. Some tune up on his technique and he'll go far.
