Christmas is based on a pagan holiday, as are most Christian holidays. To be honest, Christianity is basically a mix of Judaism and paganism. This is why Jews actually believe that they share in common with Muslims (Nowadays the relationship between Jews and Muslims are hostile to say the least, but they were way nicer to the Jews back when the Christians were persecuting them). And there is no war on Christmas. I hate how Christians act so persecuted in a country where they are a majority.

Where do I even begin? First off, Santa was named after St. Nic, which was a Christian tradition, get over it. If the tree is pagan, explain the star on top. The winter festival had no set date, meaning Christmas was not stolen.

I am a Christian (the type that truly believes in Christ as our savior) and I will be the first to say that Christmas is only symbolic of Christ's birth as Christ was most likely born in the spring or summer months. At least, that is according to the time frame for the census being conducted around that time.

You are both right and wrong. You do understand that there is no "Seperation of Church and State Clause" in the Constitution? I will admit, the founders did not want a state church, like England had, and that was their intent. However, it is pretty clear that they intended that state religion would be the realm of the states being those powers were enumerated to them by the very exclusion of regulation in the Constitution.
Here is another fact for you, most of the thirteen colonies when they formed their state constitutions actually required that religious schools be funded by the government.

Christmas is based on a pagan holiday, as are most Christian holidays. To be honest, Christianity is basically a mix of Judaism and paganism. This is why Jews actually believe that they share in common with Muslims (Nowadays the relationship between Jews and Muslims are hostile to say the least, but they were way nicer to the Jews back when the Christians were persecuting them). And there is no war on Christmas. I hate how Christians act so persecuted in a country where they are a majority.

Where do I even begin? First off, Santa was named after St. Nic, which was a Christian tradition, get over it. If the tree is pagan, explain the star on top. The winter festival had no set date, meaning Christmas was not stolen.

People don't say Happy Holidays because they are offended by "Merry Christmas". They say it because they acknowledge that most holidays (from various religions and cultures) precede the invention of Christmas. In fact, Christmas is a stolen holiday. The pagans of northern Europe had a week-long feast/celebration at the beginning of winter (same time as Christmas). The Christians, after exterminating all pagans, stole the idea and made some shit up about Jesus's birthday.

I am a Christian (the type that truly believes in Christ as our savior) and I will be the first to say that Christmas is only symbolic of Christ's birth as Christ was most likely born in the spring or summer months. At least, that is according to the time frame for the census being conducted around that time.

You are both right and wrong. You do understand that there is no "Seperation of Church and State Clause" in the Constitution? I will admit, the founders did not want a state church, like England had, and that was their intent. However, it is pretty clear that they intended that state religion would be the realm of the states being those powers were enumerated to them by the very exclusion of regulation in the Constitution.

What if I dont belive in Jesus? Should my business have to say "Merry Christmas" to appease Christians? Christians do go ape shit over this.

@hipstermi i guess that's where u grew up cuz my parents never dealt with that in the 70's in jersey. Also if u don't believe in Jesus then don't say anything, simple as that. We seem 2 b so worried in our country about offending Jewish ppl, atheists, etc. that Christmas is becoming a holiday called "Holiday". This was never an issue in the past why is it so offensive now?

OK...be honest- if you went to say Sears, and management was Jewish, and they put up ONLY say Hanukkah greetings...wouldn't Christians go ape shit? I mention Dobson calling for boycots over vague "happy holidays".
As a school boy I assumed "Happy HolidayS" (plural) meant "Merry Christmas AND New Years since I wont see you till after break"

Idk, i guess what really bothers me is that some Christians and others r making Christmas a gift giving holiday rather than what it should b. I wouldn't really mind happy holidays, but i just feel like Christmas is becoming secular and with happy holidays, i just feel like it's becoming more so. Soon it's not even going 2 b called Christmas.

He used Christianity to gain support of the Germans. The German people were very "christian". As for stores let them say Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukah if they want, that way they please both religions. Most of them care so deeply and so much for their fellow man that they actually get angry when someone doesn't realize their immortal soul is in danger. I've known people that I've been close to that have had problems with drinking and/or drugs. You tend to get angry, after a while, when they continuously put themselves on a path to total self destruction.

If you consider God to be infinitely just, and you believe people WILL burn for not believing in Him, then you would by default consider hell as absolutely justified. That being said.. the local denomination, Church of Christ, which I was raised into, teaches that people are inherently wicked and deserve to be punished, and they SHOULD be sent to HELL.
