  • it's bottom heavy

  • I'm not the Internet,😃😂lol

  • but quite impressive not h8in.

  • You do know these are for sale for around $10 on eBay.

  • C2:

a skater store near by, pick up what I need, & thanks to you & your foresight to stop & ask yourself "Hmmm.. I bet I could make that!" + instead of running off with part or all of this months rent $ to buy one & made this very well put together 'How To' Video! I too will be having fun testing my own home made Stabilizer like a kid on X-Mas morning ! :-)

Again, Thanks for the great clear & concise video you made!Really great job :-)

    Peace…

    - Thomas

  • I made a 'Camera Stabilizer' quite some time ago…. Got the the plans off a guy's web-site(Photos, not Vid How To) he was a guy studding at I believe it was MIT, anywhoooo, the design was great for back in the day( say 5-8yr.s or so) when I was shooting with a Canon XL-R or my Canon GL-2, but the design you've using to show us how to make in this vid is more exactly what hit the market 5-15yr.s back & cost approx. 350$-$1500US! SO THANK YOU! :-) I'm hitting the hardware store tomorrow & SEE C2:

  • thanks for the tip your video gave me an idea

  • Cool!

  • Awesome, good idea, and nice tutorial video!

  • Thank you for the info.

  • The idea isn't really to move the centre of gravity as low as possible. That does smoothen the video but even better results you get when you move the centre of gravity to the gimball. When you quickly move the steadicam sideways the camera shouldn't tilt at any direction. Thats when you know it's properly balanced.

  • dude, amazing! would you consider making/selling me one? i'm not so handy with the hardware... please contact me if you're down

  • Brilliant. Looks a bit goofy, but I'd use it.

  • 3:18 Thumbs up if you see a cat!

  • Looks good! Keep up the good work!!

  • That thing looks awesome could you send me a parts list or point me in the right direction I wanting to build one of theese for a while now

  • where is the demo video?

  • What camera do you use?

  • :46 it thought the book was a face...

  • clear vidieo, clear voice, clear instruction. hands down the best diy tutorial ever. now im gona make me self a stabilizer!

  • BTW, nice video quality. did you shoot it on iPhone using a steadycam ;-) ?

  • Ok, can I buy this from you for 40 bucks or may be 50. Common I find it complicated to make, I am a woman!! =(

  • I've had trouble trying to put together some of these DIY stabilizers, most are ineffective at some point. I picked up a Cam Caddie for $38 and never looked back.

  • Less complicated: "the string video stabilizer"

  • Quick point: If you have a small bench vise you can simply take the bearing, apply a small amount of machine oil to the outside edge, apply a small amount to the inside of the PVC ring, then press them together in your vise. It saves heating anything up. If you don't have a vice, then you can heat it, but like others have said, do it in a well ventilated area. I am building one of these now, and will post a follow up video on my channel later.

  • What camera are you using?

  • best DIY video i've seen yet, and a very professional finish. awesome work.

  • god bless the metric system

  • Nice job

  • Hi, nice vid.

I'm trying to make this myself right now.

Btw, how did you bend the metal so smoothly?

  • good job. very cool.

  • You've got 4 vids... but they're all awesome!

  • hola tengo un ipod cuarta generacion y quiero hacer lo mismo que tu pero necesito las medidas del balero que utilizas!!!!! gracias

  • what kind of camera you use its nice

  • Does not work; your bolts will fall out.

  • Could you please send me the specs for the build? I would love to try and make this!! AWESOME WORK MAN!!!

  • Good

  • you should put adsense on your Videos. this will be Very popular Very soon.

  • We only wish every youtube tutorial was this good. Congrats on a cool vid.

  • The real Steadicam Smoothee for iPhones (4 included) operates on principles WAY more refined than this DIY unit. Smaller, too. Better camera holder, too. Better shots, too.

See what it achieves on vimeo 17824739

  • good idea

  • I don't understand the necessity of the bearing, which is a Y axis pivot. How do you point your camera?

  • pero ke bueno!!!!

  • What camera were you using to film this? The production quality is really good.

  • Very useful! Excellent quality video too. Oh, and it has nothing to do with the steadycam thing, but WOW you're smoking!

  • I think for the handle you might be able to use a Spray Can Handle from HomeDepot. The kind you put on top of a spray can so you dont get paint on your finger.

  • awesome awesome awesome video man. thanks for the hints and knowledge.

  • how did you get the bolts in the inner gimbal to stay and the right size

  • Good job Bro... you need someone to help you to mass produce it in China with different attachments for phones and small video cameras and sell it under $99 bucks .

  • this is a joke. this work for maybe a 1hour before it fell apart. Dude, why are you suggesting that other people try this......Also It seems the one in the demo is made of different parts then the one in the instructions.

do not try this at home

  • Impressive!

  • wow. This actually looks like something I might be able to pull off. Thanks for the great vid!

  • ...

This is brilliant and fun to watch. Thanks for sharing. BTW, I ain't a hater but the wristband 0:08 is gay.

  • i think some one should post a build your own iphone 4 video lol

  • haha everones more interested in the camera used to record rather then the massive stand exspensive stand thats not small and portable i think uve wasted ur money but its ur life lol

  • and really portable just like the iphone

  • and i fits in your pocket so you can take it anywhere! oh wait. nvm

  • It is NOT a stabilizer. I does not stabilize any walking shake and nothng to be compared to any even simplest stabilizers in pocket photo cameras. Insane unfunctional gadget that just interferes with pointing the camera, yet transfers all the vibration. SOFTWARE DESHAKER used for the demo.

Another clever viral marketing campain from Apple. For these two (and only) videos "jessper" got an iphone. Cool.

  • Thumbs up if you thought he was holding a condom from the thumbnail.

  • This is a good idea this way the Iphone even has reception!

  • omg thats epic

  • Cock rings?

  • Nevermind, just saw your answer to the question, Canon 5D Mk II, the quality is amazing!

  • That looks great! But what I'd like to know is what camera you shot this video with? =)

  • very industrious

  • too much time on our hands i see

  • I couldn't quite tell from your video, but how do you attach the gimbal to the 5/16" rod. Washes above/below the gimbal to hold it in place?

  • There is a way to make this but with 30 $ less and it will work the same.

  • The video doesn't quite show it, but how have you attached the gimbal to the 5/16" rod?

  • Steadycam ??

Is the name STEADICAM not a registered trademark of The Tiffen Company ???

  • @Cypern Sure, but let me ask you this. When you need to blow your nose, do you ask for a tissue or a Kleenex? Its in the lexicon and he's not selling anything.

  • Aww, I was wanting to see a video with your device to see how well it looked :) Darn EET!

    Very awesome work

  • kool ...if ur gunna film a movie with an iphone 4

not like u can put that in ur pocket

  • Just wondering if that many counter weights are needed? If you make the bottom too heavy then you will get a pendulum effect which is just as bad as not having a counterweight. I'd think the iphone would not need much weight at the bottom since it weights nothing

  • You should have shown a before and after iPhone video to show how effective your device is.

  • Dude you're so cool!

  • 0:54 ahahahha, he was for real , lmao !

  • he changed his shirt

  • kewl, just orsm

  • easier tip just buy a fuckin HD camcorder

  • @xspoofproductionx wow, what a well thought out comment... not. since the iphone already does hd why buy a separate device? From your comment I guess you've never actually tried an iphone for video, it's excellent. This guy has done an awesome job helping people make the most of the iPhone, if people took your advice, you'd still have video that the same as the iPhone, this vid was about making a steady cam and he does an awesome job.

  • Wow, that is incredible!

  • Good video and impressive quality.

However, I bet they will release one at stores for about the same price.

  • So this camholder of yours, how do I get it in my pocket?

Just kidding! Very nice lowtech solution. And I love the fact that you invested your time to paint the grip in style.

  • nice camera quality!

  • His wall on the left was badly slanted

  • what a sick quality.

    what camera do u have?

i want it, how expensive is it?

  • And I drilled in it. That way I can insert my 5/16's threaded rod.

  • try less length to the bottom... and less washers ... i only used 1 washer... hope that helps...

  • YOU DIDNT INTRODUCE THE KITTY lol

  • 3 motherfuckers voted down

  • didnt you say this IS? a PHONE!!!! want a camera? BUY A CAMERA!

besides now you got to carry this handle thing in a bob around.

  • great video!

  • thats what she said

  • God that Canon 5D footage looks amazing.

You should've shot it all on iPhone - the Canon makes everything else look crap...

    Nice work, btw.

  • burning pvc is toxic bro, u gonna die soon

  • FAKE

  • @kitchenninja22 ROFL.

  • man just use RUBBER BAND with your TRIPOD. gz. simple as 1 2 3.

  • look about as portable as an ipad

  • Be careful heating PVC. It will give off toxic fumes. Have plenty of ventilation, preferably outside.

  • this is so stupid. do you really think i will make this? why dont you just make some and sell them online. i'll give you 30 dollars for one.

  • Can you PLEASE post a link to that cup holder mount. Thanks!!

  • @Mp3dog I can't find a link to the Scoche brand, but you can find the exact same thing with a different name for less money here:

aetherdrinker.blogspot.com/p/store.html (click on Video & Rigging)

  • @jessiper THANKS!!

  • This is bad ass. Output looks very good.

  • A great improvement on the various compact camcorder DIY steadycams out there. My students will go nuts for this since most of the video they shoot is on their iPhones and Kodak Zi8 and PlaySports rather than the camcorders I loan out. Thanks!

  • Thanks for all the awesome compliments everyone. I'm still not completely thrilled with the results, and some of you helped show me why I'm an idiot. Check out this vid Fulgarite posted in the comments at Gizmodo showing the importance of balance:

    w w w.glidecam.com/vid/mov/lg/stability_of_balance.mov

So I've tuned my design for balance, and will post another vid soon. Hope it helps.

  • ... [;)]

  • that's awesome... had been trying to figure out a way to get my iphone 4 onto a tripod to shoot, this is better than that

  • Nice job dude. Thanks.

  • the dude is very brainyass indeed

  • Very cool man! I always wanted to know how a steady cam works.

  • Ingenious! Mad props.

You should sell the gimbal part for those who don't have access to tools. Or even a complete set. I'd pay $100 for one of those.

  • WOW whatever camera u used to record this video is amazing... excellent quality..

  • Like someones gonna carry this fuckin thing around? People who want better video are going to buy camera. This thing looks fuckin retarded!

  • @DecalfxVideos even a camera needs a steadicam to smooth out the movement from the camera-man

  • @rhddrifter86 who gives a fuck, get a life

  • this is best DIY video, and the Quality of footage is awesome, not to forget how you go in and outta frame, Brilliant

  • Super simple instructions on how to make my own gimbal. Thanks much!

  • 1) Looks like someone's been to Uniqlo.

    2) What'd you shoot this with?

  • @tumest Ha, you're right. I bought that shirt at the Uniqlo capsule store in Shibuya. And the camera I used was the 5D Mark II. And that's all straight out of camera, no color or gamma correction at all. Love that camera.

  • @jessiper 5D Mark II - Epic cam for movie recording.

  • @jessiper I could tell it was a Canon DSLR. They're so great.

  • @jessiper Awesome! Which lens on the 5D did you use?

  • this 360p looks like 1080p

  • I just might have to do this, thanks for the video.

  • lol, thats really cool bro I have to say,,but maybe they"ll stop me at the Airport...just a little too big for me.
