The hard hittin' weight of this song always moves me. The S&M Performance of "The Outlaw Torn" is one of the greatest and most touching performances of any piece of music I've ever seen. And as a singer and a lyricist myself I am so in love with this song. I've heard many opinions on what the lyrics is about, but I'm pretty sure it's about the loss of Cliff, and how to move on.
wow. i cant believe that this was over 10 years ago. they should have dont a 10th anniversary S&M concert or DVD/CD. i think that, that would have been sick. who else agrees with me?
@smitty6293 It would be awesome, but i think the thing is that Micheal Kamen was the one and only guy for the job symphony-wise and he passed in 2003. I think that may be the reason they didn't follow up with another S&M.
@xXBraylonGillespieXx well yea that may be the reason why. but maybe if he had a son that did the same thing as him they could of had his son do it. or do it in memory of kamen.
I had no idea, did they play any other songs.. I think it's such a shame they didnt do Fade to Black and Sanitarium.. those two would be perfect for a symphony orchestra
This is a part of the S/M- thingy they did. The most wellknown concert is the one from San Francisco which they put out on a dvd and cd. They also made a gig in New York (this video) and then another gig in Berlin with a different orchestra.
I'm a huge Metallica fan and I know that on the offical releases they always tweek the vocals. This being a fan video, without any polishing..........James Hetfield is an amazing singer. They should play this song more often. 20 years from now when they will talk about great moments in Rock n roll from 90's; this particular performance will be right there. Rock on

this New york concert is way better than the San Francisco one such a great sound and better audience. Jason is top notch here
TBoneMontana 11 months ago
Jason was perfect for Metallica, James and Lars didn't want to
accept change. ONE thing is for SURE, Metallica wasn't the same when Jason left.
