Dr. Meade was the main dr. in GWTW. He was the one that lived in Atlanta. When Melanie gives birth to her baby he tells Scarlett that there is nothing to brining a baby into the world. I <3 GWTW. Hope this helps:)
In my opinion, Frollo has a rather emotionless expression when he says "It's a matter of taste" in reference to the appeal of ugliness. I think that in truth, Frollo does know that people have the instinct which makes them disgusted by and attracted to ugliness, but I think that one of the reasons he calls it a matter of taste is because his sense of self-righteousness prevents him from acknowledging that he has base instincts.
Whoah whoah whoah WHOOOAAHHH!!! Hang on....The snooty uptight guy who is the founder and caretaker of Quasimodo is Jehan!?!! Making no sense this is!! It's supposed to be Claude and Jehan is supposed to be the drunkard womanizing guy O_O
if i'm understanding correctly the nice older man is the king, loius xi of france. pretty sure the king wasn't that nice or forward thinking. but i guess some historical inaccuracies worked for the film. it's seems like it'll be a good one.
I may be in the minority, but I think Laughton's Quasimodo is absolutely adorable. Also, while I wouldn't necessarily fall in love with him, I'd all my time with someone as sweet and tender as Quasimodo well-spent.
It also helps that I adore Laughton and am a big fan. =)
After reading the novel, I kinda hate Esmeralda, or whatever her name is. I think Quasimodo and Frollo had such a good relationship. They were so close to each other in one way or another. Frollo is the one who saved Quasimodo's life, raised him as he raise his little brother, teach him a special language when Quasimodo became deaf. And Quasimodo also love him more than anything. Until Esmeralda came and ruin both of them. I really really hate her and her blind love. >"<
@jotahuene Oh, sorry. I think you didnt understand what I mean. Their relationship is something like father and son, master and servant, teacher and pupil,... and I really like the way they were with each other before Esmeralda came. "Love" have so many meaning, you know. ^_^'
Yeah, thats what makes this story all the more a tragedy in very way. Their are hundreds of messages through it, and I cried at least five times throughout it- I sobbed harder then any other book had made me D:
None the less, I really wish Phoebus could have just died, no? I mean, it seems every single good character died, and just left that....jackass alive!
@XxM00nSHADExX Yes, I agree with u. I'm so happy when Frollo stabbed Phoebus. But he was still alive! It really bother me! Hello! Why couldn't that good- for- nothing womanizer die??? He is the only one in the novel I want to kill.... Grrr....

um.this might be kind of wierd....but Quasi is kinda hot! I LOVE his heart, strength ,and courage!!!As Ive said before....looks aint everything(how many cute guys have you ever known who are complete zeros!!!!}
I love O'hara's accent... I saw her in the Parent Trap prior to this and automatically noticed the difference in the way she spoke in this film... I feel it enhances the character!
She's white because the idea of interracial relationships were taboo back then, especially in Hollywood when a minority couldn't play the romantic counter part of someone white. Seriously folks. This movie came out in 1939, the idea of a minority especially someone black taking on a romantic lead role opposite of a white actor or actress was unhead of and unwanted.
This was Charles Laughton's best film in my opinion and his portrayal of the deformed hunchback is masterly. The carnival scenes must have been choreographed by someone who knew about the historical phenomenon of the "Day of Fools" when an anti-king was crowned. Just after Quasimodo is crowned take a look at the moment when a row of people "bow" to the new king - they do it with their backsides!
Later in the film there is a marvellous scene with Quasimodo playing the bells by swinging on them.

if she's a gypsey then i'm a mongolian,,, incidentely, in the book by victor hugo, when esmeralda escapes in to the church to take refuge all the priests take it in turn to go through her.!
Charles Laughton is adorable as Quasimodo he acts just like a little boy and that is just so cute and heart renching at the same time. Love this movie!
The women Esmeralda is gorgeous. The problem though abou this time is that they did not have other races playing certain parts that called fro it.
