  • Magnificent.

  • Ted Kennedy was a murderer.

  • @bosszeroboss Id rather go hunting with a Cheney than driving with a Kennedy

  • Mary Jo Kopechne unavailable for comment.

  • i think people are mistaking darkening a voice with dramatic intention. The performance aspect of this is bar none and it is seen in the timber of his voice as well. At the point he says no matter how hopeless I am convinced it garnishes near perfection if not certain perfection. Over analizing with regards to a classic barratone or artificial coloring of his voice is lost in the clarity of his performance and only leads to much vexation. Just my opinion...

  • Is this the same Kennedy who let a young girl drown and hit and lied like a rat. Shame on this nasty dead Kennedy.

  • blows his load at 3:53

  • this was my grandpas favorite song. when i listen to this i feel closer to him. my only regret after he died was that i couldnt spend as much time as i could have with him.

  • beautiful music, magic text !

  • that was f---ing fantastic

  • Another beautiful song! Anything is possible if you believe in what you believe in. Just take the word impossible and tell yourself "It's Most Possible!"

  • Not a big fan of BSM—the sloppy intonation, the artificial darkening of his voice, the inability to be on his breath and support a tone without falling off it. He sings like he's trying to sound like his idea of a great baritone.

  • @MrPmiki You must be kidding!

  • @MrPmiki I see where your point of view is from. You are one of those acolytes of the "your voice is the best voice" movement, which I personally believe started with some hillbilly. The thing is, though, that you seem to have missed a few things. For example, Brian Stokes Mitchell IS a great baritone.

There are also some cases that the artificial darkening is helpful to actually improving flexibility. I speak in a baritone range, but singing is much easier for me in the bass range.

  • @MasterAnemos I'm well aware BSM is considered "a great baritone" by many people. The fact that I do not agree with someone else’s opinion has nothing to do with my voice, acolytes, hillbillies, or anything other than my own personal taste.

  • As far as vocal production,we clearly come from different schools, unless we’re just misunderstanding each other's terminology. If your natural vocal singing range is bass, the darkness of your voice is not artificial. The "artificial" darkening I referred to was overly dark vowels and a forced-down larynx, which—at least in the school of vocal production I come from—isn’t considered healthy, true, or (except possibly in rare instances for effect) desirable.

  • As for vocal flexibility (which I use to mean agility), to my ear, BSM’s artificial darkening diminishes his flexibility. Vocal flexibility comes from clear articulation and vibrant breath.

  • Artificially darkening your voice doesn’t “improve” anything except perhaps your own perception of your voice as being darker than it is. It makes your speech less understandable, diminishes the core of your voice (preventing your voice from carrying and being heard over an orchestra), creates pitch problems, and inhibits your ability to sing into your top.

  • On a separate note, I think opinions stand a better chance of being heard and received when they’re not bolstered by actual or implied name-calling, personal rancor, and the presumption that this is an argument and not a discussion.

  • Peter O'Toole did it best in my heart!

  • To me,the word's of this song seem to put voice to the spirit of the 70s.

  • a gem in millions of videos.

  • Stunning performance!

  • I personally think this is the single best performance of this song ever!

  • Brian Stokes Mitchell is amazing. Even though he did not win the Tony, his was the only live performance to get a standing ovation.

Fortunately my wife and I got to see this revival back in 2003(4)? The memory is going. We immediately bought the cast album.

Also interesting is that Ernie Sabella (Pumbaa in the movie Lion King) played Sancho and also played the guy playing Sancho on the Quantum Leap episode where Scott Bakula got to do Man of La Mancha.

  • SALAMAT NAMAN NAKITA KUNA YUNG LYRICS NG IMPOSIBLE DREAM

  • Two questions. Isn't this a tony award performance and not the Kennedy thing?, and Did B. Stokes Mitchell play Trevor on Fresh Prince?

  • @dtrane09 You are correct. This is the Tony Award Performance, The actual tribute can also be found on youtube, but is is not as good as this one. About Trevor, that I do not know.

  • I totally luv this!

  • this is my favorite version of ID ever

  • this version of man of la mancha well... he looks even crazier.

  • Who knew he could sing like this when he was on "The Fresh Prince?"

  • totally awesome.

  • Awesome!

  • I had grown tired of this song because whenever I had seen it done either as part of the musical or in concert, it was always "time for the big number". The singer kind of did a majestic version of it. I like the way in which Brian Stokes Mitchell uses the song to explain to Aldonza who he is. "Don't you understand? This is my quest, to follow that star." He hits all the right notes, but that aspect to the interpretation adds a poignancy to it that involved me once again in the song.

  • What a Brilliant performance and a Great Song and Singer love Shirls xx

  • East Lyme high school drama club!!

  • awsome!!!!

  • Feel free to listen to my cleaned up version without the high frequency noise.

  • boo you suck!

jk, but the high freq noise drowns out my annoying bro, everything has it's purpose :p

  • This is the Tonys, nothing to do with the kennedys,as the kennedy apologist would have you think. The real man of La mancha would not have let a girl drown in his car while he saved himself, then lied for 40 years.

  • Too true...too true.

  • No, Don Quixote lost his mind and tilted at windmills until he died. Edward Kennedy was a man, but he was a great man. Fallible, sure, but never a coward and never dishonorable. That girl died in an accident where one person was going to live, the driver or the passenger. We will never know what happened that day, but I do know what has happened in Congress for more than 40 years: nothing short of backbreaking work to move this country forward. I can think of lesser men than Ted Kennedy.

  • To whom is your comment directed? I hope it isn't me because I did not intend to piss anyone off with my comment. Who is a Republican wanker? And who needs to get back to the ages? I am thoroughly confused, which I admit does not happen often, but nevertheless...

  • Comment removed

  • I've loved him every since he was on "Trapper John" ;) xox

  • I like this Brian Stokes Mitchell better than the one with the MTC. I am glad this version is still on YouTube.

  • Totally tremendous song and performnce!!!! This man puts his heart and soul into this song!!!

  • i love this version of BSM best. though not the best recording he has so much emotion here.

  • This magnificent performance is put on youtube every now and again, then removed by the enjoyment police. Enjoy it while you can. It is magnificent.

  • @rossmcl177 totally agree

  • @rossmcl177 At least Sony records, videos and equipment are banned till the end of 2012 due to their activity policing here (and fortunately I'm in charge or our companys IT, video and audio equipment purchases!!!). Every single DVD and CD I have bought for the past 3 years have their origins on a clip I saw here at the YouTube => I wouldn't have bought any of those DVD's if I hadn't seen a clip here first.

  • One word.... Inspiring.

  • foooda

  • This is the most inspiring song I know! I agree... I've checked several versions on YouTube, and Brian Stokes Mitchell's version is the BEST. Hands down! It is as if Don Quixote, the Cervantes character himself, were the one singing :))

  • This is for me the best version ever of this song.PERFECTION

  • Agreed. I've heard this song about eight thousand million times but this version still gives me chills and makes me well up.

  • This is in fact from the Tony Awards a few years ago, when BSM was doing this role on Broadway. BSM did in fact sing this at the funeral of Ted Kennedy recently (whom I believe he admired), and that video is also on Youtube.

  • this video was already on youtube but at better sound quality, whered it go?

  • Awesome, the best interpretation of this part. I just love it. Good to see it back on tube again :)

  • This is the Tony Awards. Nothing about Ted Kennedy.

  • So this must be everittjames tribute to Teddy Kennedy using Brian Stokes Mitchell performance, because this is not Brian Stokes Mitchells tribute to Teddy Kennedy. This performance is from arount 2003. Nothing against Teddy Kennedy, I have great respect for the man, but I also have respect for Brian Stokes Mitchell who is still working and who may or may not like Teddy Kennedy. Personally I think this is the kid of youtube posting that gives rise to copyright problems from origional artists.
