I realize this is nerd nitpicking, but the idea that a craft shaped like this could not take off from a planet without some sort of anti-gravity assist. The nacelles are enormous and how would you ever get the nose up on that?

Everyone always makes the neck of the 1701-D too long.

The "D" looks like a squat chicken with little wings below the saucer (unlike all other Enterprise ships with the naucelles at level with or higher than the saucer, making the ships look aerodynamic and in motion. D was the worst design ever.

The enterprise was in a star's corona with a meta-phasic shield prototype to protect it from the heat... A star's gravity is MUCH greater than earths, and it was able to leave it just fine. I don't see why they could build it on earth.

However, it does make a lot more sense to build it in space.
