@TearsOfWar1 Europe always had law of the blood. For example, at least one parent has to be an Italian citizen for your child to be an Italian citizen and where you are born is meaningless. My father is Italian and thus I am an Italian citizen even though I was born in the US. My citizenship is gained by blood not where I was born. This prevents border hoppers from other countries to just have a child in your country and gain citizenship with social benefits.

Why do we have to give up our one life or freedom to live our one life for some asshole we elect?
I'm an atheist but humanity has evolved reason. We shouldn't live like monkeys with some big gorilla at the helm, pounding us upside the head for money or to join a war.
I think the human species should have a rational evolution goal, to move forward, instead of relying on jungle law for answers. We can't evolve any further as a species without the choosing between mental or physical might.

@TheSameDamnGuy Actually he really doesn't have a logical point in this case. In many cases he does, however Olbermann's contract said he could not do what he did. I praise MSNBC for setting that standard and I wish FOXNEWS would do the same. It would probably help in crediting their institution a little more.

Neither pure capitalism nor pure socialism will actually work. It's all about moderation, just like everything else. Check out Scandinavia and Iceland, which are about as far from economic collapse as it gets. They employ mixed markets which actually balance the two concepts despite the tax rates.

@JustChrisLTD I'm pretty content with Obama lately because of his decisiveness in Operation Neptune's Spear. For once, he made a solid, well thought decision. Anyway, I do not approve of the fact that he is still spending rediculously, when we are in trillions of dollars in debt. If China wanted to, they could strangle this country by simply not selling shit to us. I find this pretty disturbing. I'm not conservative either, I'm a libertarian. I think we need someone that can fix the economy.

The Republican takeover, as far as I know, hasn't really changed anything. Keep in mind, that in the last 20 years, 16 of those have been under a Republican congress. The Republican takeover just means business as usual. Clinton, from what I hear, was able to still get stuff done, even with Newt Gingrich running the House. (They had a big dispute beforehand, but I think it was settled.) Point is, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Didn't Obama save the country from another great depression? Didn't Obama end the war in Iraq? didn't Obama take out the pirates? Didn't Obama pass wall street reform? Didn't Obama give more protection to gays? Didn't Obama pass the Jobs act? Isn't Obama also focusing on Afghanistan? Even if the helthcare reform passed without the public option, it's still something that Carter nor Clinton could not pass when they also had the house and the senate. Obama did a lot of good for the country.

I would make English the official language of the US, change citizenship laws from law of the land to law of the blood, issue national ID cards that have your SS#/Picture/Thumb Print/Biometrics, break down federalism, remove property tax and implement a consumption tax for indirect taxation only. There... I just took care of political correctness, illegal immigration, fraud, tax evasion, unconstitutional taxation, and the deficit respectively. Now comes the hard part, doing it.

@TearsOfWar1 Europe always had law of the blood. For example, at least one parent has to be an Italian citizen for your child to be an Italian citizen and where you are born is meaningless. My father is Italian and thus I am an Italian citizen even though I was born in the US. My citizenship is gained by blood not where I was born. This prevents border hoppers from other countries to just have a child in your country and gain citizenship with social benefits.

An opinion: You were disappointed by the Obama administration so u voted Republican(with "you" I mean the majority of the electorate). But this was not a presidential election. If I got it right, many of Obama's reforms were blocked in the senate by the republicans. So if the reason for your disappointment was that you wanted those reforms to pass, and since this was a congress- senate -I don't know what election, you should have given the Democrats more power.
