Shergar would of crushed any of STS opposition on the Bridal, perhaps you should watch this clip again, and you will see Piggott doesnt even use the whip, STS was whipped in all of his wins

i think shergars defeat in the leger was the culmination of the extra distance, and him having peaked in the king george at ascot. i feel there were signs in that race that he was beggining to go past his best for the season

Shergar ran 8 times in all, winning first time out as a 2-y-o before finishing 2nd to Beldale Flutter in the William Hill Futurity (now the Racing Post Trophy). At 3 he ran 6 times, winning the Guardian Classic Trial at Sandown (by 10 lengths), the Chester Vase (by 12 lengths), the Derby (10 lengths), the Irish Derby (4 lengths) and the King George (4 lengths) before his defeat in the Leger when finishing a disappointing fourth to Cut Above.
