I found a few thing wrong with this video. For one, your "MIDI controller" is actually a synthesizer. The computer recognizes it as a MIDI controller because it has MIDI sounds. Two, your using a usb 2.0 cord

Hi, Nice instructional video, easy to follow, well done. A question I hope you might be able to answer for me; when I run my Zoom Rhythmtrak RT-223 analogue drum machine into ProTools MBox 2, it gradually loses time with the guitar tracks I have already recorded. I have been told it is analogue lag?? Is there a way around this? I am trying to record Surf Guitar tracks and the Boom Drums in Pro Tools are all techno and dont go with what I am recording. Thanks.

@TheMyndsurfer ... you need clock going from once machine to the other ... midi beat clock would prob be best. sounds like you are just triggering start on both then they drift. Hope this helps! check our channel for a lot of cool info if you like! =)

Hey, when you record midi, do you run into latency problems? Because I have a macbook and when I use garageband with the midi control, it records a split second late. Do you know what I could do to solve that? Or is it garageband is just a 2 cheap of a program. lol I am getting better software but Im still going to be useing midi.

@telisakeys is it recording late or is the feed back in your headphones late, mine used to just give late feedback and would cause me to record late, so now i would just mute the track im recording on....but if not check into getting a better mic/interface......garageband is a good program, it will get what you need done if you use it right!

@dvsjaymusic recording vocals? well if you are recording vocals i wouldnt suggest edison,if you can get something better such as protools or logic or even another audio recording software, it would probably be better but honestly my first ever recording was in fl studio....it wasnt great but i made it work!

Lookin at your vid I noticed your room looks untreated (bare painted block walls). you should check out what you can do to treat the sound of your room. an untreated space can make the best speakers and gear sound crap - vice versa is true - a good room improves

beatsbycetty: it's not possible to make your mbox 2 the default windows sound device (trust me, I've looked into it - this is the official word from AVID - Digidesign themselves!)

what your doing is fine but u can record vocals and edit your voice on fruity loops it saves u some money so u dont have to worry about buying protools

@DjPeaceDestroyer u are absolutely right...my first song ever was recorded on fl studio....but quality wise....if you have the money..protools is best....or logic etc......plus they are industry standard....it would be a rarity to go to a studio and a engineer is recording with fl studio.....but budget wise you are on point!

@JBoyFresh12 well Reason is used for producing beats as well! i Kind of learned both programs....and now i just use which ever one im feeling...! they both have their different benefits really....when it comes to tracking and patterns...fl studio is better to me...but when it comes to internal sounds with no plugins and mixing and running through protools...reason can be a better in my opinion! but depending on budget you can do major damage with just one of these!

u broke the golden rule of A/V, never buy anything from radio shack except for a headphone size adapter. haha. i suggest if u have the money to go to guitar center or sam ash and get a higher quality XLR cable for your microphone
