I was at that 1 game in 1978 when Johann Cruyff played for the Cosmos...it was billed as the Cosmos vs. the World All-Stars who had Caesar Menotti for a coach only about 2 months after Argentina had won the World Cup and if I am not mistaken had both Zico and Rivellino on it's team.

There was NOTHING like going to a Cosmos game.

I LOVED the Cosmos. It was sad when the league closed in 1984. It seems the league is coming back though. Bring back the NY Cosmos!! :)

soccer is popular in the US. there are over 20 million kids involved in the youth leagues and the US national team is ranked consistently as one of the top 10.

@arosales80 ok its true that almost every kid plays soccer when their young but most quit before highschool because people in the states see soccer as boring or girly

not true,usa has one of the largest partisipation per head than most nations. It will become a major sport in the US

@pilgim of course its more popular than handball ,volleyball or rugby for example but theres still a huge difference of popularity in compare to the sports like american football ,baseball ,basketball etc. Btw. the u.s.a had always outstanding goalies in the last 20 years like meola,keller,friedel,howard.Th­e national team is pretty good i think
