  • NoFX anyone?

  • How absolutely charming to see the origin of one of my favorite songs and favorite musicals ever!

  • more typical stupid shit by the typical idiots in our so lovely country . teaching young kids its alright to be racist.

  • @Heatmor2011

No one is saying racism is alright, just that everyone is to a small degree. We can't always help it; our minds are wired to look for patterns, and to jump to a conclusion quickly. That helped our species survive in times before we were meeting people from all over the globe, but it's not so useful now. Recognizing the problem is necessary for working on it, and laughter puts people in a more agreeable mood. Getting angry over little shit only makes it worse.

  • @Heatmor2011 THIS IS A SATIRE SHOW,IT'S NOT MENT TO BE FOR LITTLE KIDS!

  • does anyone else think that the guy puppet looks like Mark from Rent?

  • @jUaOsHiKi LMAO!! yes!

  • Zoe talking abot racism = WIN!! They covered racism to a very small degree on Sesame.

  • i think ya'll did very good, better than most people. I think you guys did a good job pulling this off. :)

  • the cost of decent puppets is high i'll admit. (believe me i know) so why didn;t you just forgo the puppets and just have all the parts by actors, like christmas, gary and brian? surely that would have worked just as well, if not better?

  • @ShadowHammer321 Possibly... would have defeated the idea of Avenue Q, though. Also, I don't think they looked as bad in person in such a small venue.

  • @ShadowHammer321 I genuinely think the puppets make the whole song and theatrical production about 10 times more fun and acceptable by a wider majority of people. Take out puppets & u take away the sense of comedy which may be harder 2 get or portray as an actor. I think having pupeteers dressed up and actively singing it also as part of the show helps make it hit home - something I'm all for. The song is factually very funny but true. It's what governments would call positive organic growth

  • I like the others a lot more =_=

  • am i the only person who thought christmas eve was friggin awesome in this??

  • she violated poor, innocent Zoe from sesame street!

  • LOL, this was very amateurish

  • @geppegep Well, given that they are amateurs, not getting paid and acting in a musical cabaret rather than the full show, that's not terribly surprising.

  • @ReepC07 No offense but the puppets are kinda small lol

  • @FatHellsBells Yes, unfortunately, as I have indicated before, we were on a very small budget and even these puppets were way over it, even as bad as they are.

  • @ReepC07 atleast you had talent,.

  • @ReepC07 Even with shoddy hand made looking puppets, a very funny song it was :D a great way to slap 5 min in the face!

  • Reminds me of a NoFX Concert in Münster, where they acted this piece

  • Christmas Eve definitely stole the show

  • this is great considering the budget and when the puppets are not the best the actors have to compensate

  • move the pupprts more the actors moved to much. ps. terible puppets

  • it probably doesnt help too that the kate monster puppet (zoe from sesame street) is made for the hands of a five year old...

  • the kate monster puppet is like a dwarf.

  • didn't your hands die during this?

  • that Christmas Eve is amazing! she actually made me laugh out loud!

  • everything is good but the puppets

  • i used to live on avenue Q, what the hell was i thinking in moving house!?

  • If they are gonna tackle offensive issues, then this should be called "Fur Q".

  • Oops, I meant it's good enough for a rehearsal, not a real performance.

  • good singing, although your puppets could use an upgrade, it would make the performance a lot better.

  • Kind of agreed, but it's good enough for a full-on stage performance with audience.

  • Great singing, but puppets this simple don't really add much to the performance.

  • lol Avenue Q is awesome!

  • There was no emotion in your puppets.

  • HAHA! I love Avenue Q.

I love the parts about 'busboys speaking g--d----- english' and all the little stereotypes. SO funny!

  • Christmas Eve is speaking Engrish.... yeah English WITH A "R" instead of a "L"

  • Wow...

I like the Newer Avenue Q Better...

    Same song but better puppets...

  • the sad thing is how true it is...

  • I know the asian accent was bad but get over the video was funny any was and its sad but its very true song. EVERYONE IS A BIT RACIST!!!!!

  • the asian accent is horrible. "evelyone is a little bit lacist'?

  • no duh...

  • No, I'm not saying the accent sounds horrible but it's not even an asian accent. They don't replace r's with l's.... depending on which asian place you're talking about (commonly chinese) they replace r's AND l's with w's.

so why is it lacist instead of wacist?

  • In Japan they replace Rs with Ls, and even the other way around, maybe you should research a little before you post

  • actually, i get your point (in fact I gave you the +1). but it's not entirely correct as well. there really is no L in japanese. so replacing L with R rather than the other way around is actually more correct.

  • No, they replace R's with L's as well, of you listen to the song "The more you ruv someone" You can hear Christmas eve say cly instead of cry, and roving instead of loving

  • that's my point. the japanese don't actually do that. it's a misconception. they already have an R phoneme in their language. ら,れ,り,ろ and る. its just that these 5 sound more like hybrids of R and L, more like in between them. I don't think Ann Harada, Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx would give a damn about it though. it's simply a stereotype.

  • Oh, thanks for letting me know!

  • Actually if you paid attention to It sucks to be me, song, you'll notice that the singer is suppose to have a japanese accent where as someone else said, r's and l's are more commonly switched.

Try to pay attention to the songs.

  • because nobody would understand the joke with wacist

  • It's supposed to be.

    It's an example of racism?

    That's what the song's about?

  • Why doesn't the black one get a puppet? ARE BLACK PEOPLE PUPPETS TO YOU ALREADY?! Racism. lol.

  • not all the characters in the play are puppets

  • Yep...

Brian Gary and Christmas Eve don't have puppets...

  • the puppets are severl lacking in likenss to the originals. otherwise very good.

  • It's so sad that Avenue Q closed on Broadway, I really wanted to see the show.

  • I know! I saw it last year when I went to NYC! It was great!!!

  • wait it dosent show any where anymore...no...no NOOOOO!!!! T.T my life is meaningless

  • Is that Michael Welch?

  • I don't consider the comment of Trenton's that started this whole thing to be racist; he thought they were related because they bore the same surname.

  • Kate Monster puppeteer has great voice... but her body postures a bit too much... She's like Olive Oil... heheheh like a slinky...

  • I like this song a lot, it's very true.

Grown up version of Sesame Street

  • I really like the west end better......-___-

The Asain Lady at the end doesn't sound as funny as west end....Sorry...My opinion

  • Original Asian lady is theeee best!!! :)

  • Yeahh...xD

Im asian and this boy in my class likes to do Brian's parts and I do Christmas Eve's parts...LAWL

  • this is not the real one

  • you need better puppets and you need to move them more and the actors less.

  • Yes, I understand the need for better puppets. And better puppets would have allowed for more creative useof the puppets. As it is, the puppets I would have liked were about 10 times more expensive (as a conservative guess) than the budget could afford.

  • Those puppets suck, but the voice actors are good. They just need better puppets.

  • that's the whole idea. this play is about talking about everyday life. life is not perfect.

  • What's the whole idea? In the profession productions of Avenue Q, they used professional puppets.

  • i know right? these puppets are kinda ugly! i like the originals! =3

  • srsly though. their mouths don't even more enough.

  • Again (see many other previous comments), the budget was $20 and we were only doing this one song as part of a musical cabaret. Princeton's puppet alone broke our budget. Trust me, if I could have afforded the original puppets out of pocket, I would have been all over it.

  • Ah, understood. Thank you.

  • i need a link to were i can download this song

  • if u give me ur email i can send it to u i have the whole album on my computer

  • Asian-American Wife's solo is the best.

  • they should have better puppets

they could have paid me to make them

  • The person who played the asian wife did a good voice for her charactar.

  • i love this song

  • why did they change puppets, on broadway do they have the big puppets again? Also why did the actors change?

  • I dont like those puppets... The ones at West End were much better!!!

  • Well... yes. I assume their budget was larger than $20 ;)

  • because it is a rehearsal. they probably dont use the proper ones until nearer the west end show

  • Is that the rehearsal stage on The Acting Corps in LA?

  • The person playing Gary was having some intonation problems... No offense, and maybe I'm dead wrong.

  • girl with the Kate monster is too unprofessional... she has to work WITH the dool not just hold that dool...... :P

  • its spelled doll, and actually its a puppet

  • The guy who just complained about the Girl with Kate Monster is too uneducated... He needs to learn how to spell correctly...

  • i was in a hurry and i am not from america or england thats why there are mistakes... :P

  • AVENUE Q FOREVER

  • Amazing Puppets ;)

  • Nice puppet for kate...

  • x) i love this song. i noticed something... the guy who plays princeton (sorry about not knowing his name) even kinda looks like the puppet. this made me smile :)

  • if you're talking about the original broadway cast, it's john tartaglia how plays Princeton(but i agree john does kinda look like princeton.) if you're talking about this video, i still agree.

  • but witch is the first who was princeton... look at video Avenue Q

  • Its to slow. I felt like it was dragging along at an awkward pace

  • Yes, this is a rehearsal and so we had only had one or two practices with the actual band at this point.

  • Wasn't very good, but once Gary Coleman and Christmas Eve got on, it pulled it out in the end.

  • Yeah... we were already horrendously over our $20 budget and it was difficult to find a decent, cheap monster girl puppet. And we probably would have invested more if we were doing more than this one scene.

  • The young lady who plays Kate seems to need to emphasize by bending over at the waist every five seconds.

  • This sounds so slow!

Is it slower than the orginal?

  • The Broadway song is 5:28, so this one is about 25 seconds slower, but it wasn't intentional I still think the tempo of the actual singing is close to the broadway version. It's a taping of a live performance, however, so you never know exactly what you're going to get.

  • I think it is the music that makes it sounds slower.

But good acting and very good singing! Bravo!

  • i lov how i think when she sed stupid Poliocs was funny when im 50% Polish

  • the kate monster puppet is so small...I feel bad for the puppeteer xD

  • the puppet looks like that puppet on saeasame street i think Zeo was her name

  • Kate's got a great voice, but she acted herself instead of using the puppet.

  • I imagine that's kinda hard with a plain ol' hand-up-the-backside puppet. Not too much expression to be had there.

  • i can imagine the person who plays kate to be on broadway

  • love the princeton!!!! AHHHH!!!!

  • nevermind...

  • It's hard for her to act through the puppet because it's not the real puppet, she can't move the arms at all.

  • she can move the arms

  • It was overall really great! Kate wasn't acting through the puppet as everybody said and it was really funny they should've held for laughs a little more!

  • love it!

  • The girl playing Kate Monster is not very good, but the guy is really awesome.

  • i agreee

  • Great job!

  • Great!

  • The woman playing Kate needs to act with the puppet, rather than acting and having a puppet! The point is that the puppet is the character, not her. Other than that pretty good.

  • so is this a high school production??

  • it seemed a little off temp :/

    other than that good. :)

  • Great

  • This seems slower than the recording o_O

  • ok, am i the only one who thinks the woman who plays brian;s wife isnt asian?

  • what college was this from? haha

  • The Asian, was talking about whites having power.. but she has power..DAMN

  • Who's the puppeteer for Kate? She looks so much like a girl I went to high school with, it's scary.

  • this is great, but kates a little small...

  • i hope going to broadway and see them folks

  • Is this COC black box? If it is I am very proud of COC!

  • this is fantastic!!

  • WAIT A MINUTE!YOUR STAFF OF Q-AVENUE!if you are your really good

  • They were okay..the girl was a little off at the beginning tho.

  • Please don't post comments about being racist... even if they are in good fun... they seem to lead to increasingly ignorant and offensive comments and I don't feel like deleting any more comments...

  • Im trying to look for the original were all a little racist but i coulden't find any but this one was the best i could find

  • did they not have the real puppets yet? or did she use zoey for the actual show?

  • haha, we used Zoey for the actual "show"... but it wasn't the full show, just this one scene, so it didn't seem worth it to get really nice puppets... we had already gone over our $20 budget, lol

  • btw, the christmas eve

    she is GREAT! :|

  • the most not-official productions i saw were crappy, but this one is good! i don't know about the acting, but the singing is great!

  • I'm in love with this whole situation.

  • Sad I missed it!
