Relaxation begins with breathing. When you sit in front of the piano, take a minute or two and look at the keys. Breath easily. Relax. The keys are your friends. They will do whatever you and your fingers tell them. You will make mistakes. Accept that fact. Don't let mistakes upset or worry you. Your playing WILL improve.End each practice session with some fun songs that you can play. Songs YOU enjoy. In time, you will see the piano as your "playground" and your breathing and hands will relax.
homecookedblues- my pinky 5th finger on both fingers as Iv'e been playing has the tendency to remain upright as if it is tensed, just wondering if you had any tips or knowledge on what I can do from stopping this from occuring
this is where i should start learning piano... thank you so much, i love your teaching method specially to all beginners... =) now i find my personal reason why i should love blues... so relaxing so cool...
@ymoee Good luck and have fun. Be sure to look at my video: Introduction to Basic Blues Course. It's not listed in proper sequence on youtube cuz I had to repost it. The Intro explains the number system that we use. Very important. Also, listen to the old school blues and rock players: all the Chicago and New Orleans blues guys and the 1950 rockers to start.
Thanks for making these videos. I have a very basic knowledge of piano (I can't read music), but I really want to learn more. I love that people make tutorials like this because I don't have the money or time for regular piano lessons.
You seem like a good teacher. I'll definitely be watching more of your videos!

@ymoee Thanks for the comment on Lesson 10. Somehow it got deleted (operator error most likely). Keep on rockin' the piano.
