  • @RomanovD3 yeah, it's one and a half steps down. I couldn't figure out why it sounded like shit when I played it, haha. there's also a great lesson on a site called vanderbilly. sorry that i cant post a link to it.

  • @cocomaan Hi, it's not tuned down one and half steps...that would be in C#. It's tuned in DADGAD. That makes it a lot easier! :-)

    Cris

  • absolutely gorgeous.

  • I'm sure that after a while all the comments run together and tend to sound the same, so I'll add mine to the heap. Extraordinary, and I can appreciate how much time you devoted to get to where you are today. I think I'll go watch more of your work and continue to be humbled.

  • Almost perfectly!

  • 37 people need a smack upside the head...

  • I'd love to see a lesson of this song and of exactly how u did the intro as well. Very impressive ill look for more of your work!

  • How can people give that bad ratings? Guys, this is not about the image quality, it's about the music!

  • Sorry for the language, but 37 people can go fuck themselves.

  • YES!!! Very nicely done!

  • I love this old sond and Jimmy Page does a great version but so do you! It is an old celtic sond with lyrics and I have other versions. I love this version but I would like the old lyrics too. Very old tune done beautifully.

  • What a bosssssss

  • Troubleclef you are the Man! Seemingly Effortless but lots of feeling as well. Keep up the great work.

  • good sir, what tuning is this??

  • Superb playing! Congratulations! Great guitarist - but is it me - or my laptop - but is this video slightly out of focus? A minor point - I've added to favourites and will attempt to learn. Thank you friend.

    Kenny - Fife

  • Wow, one of the truest, most authentic sounding covers ever. Well done. Wish you were in the Phila region so I could take some lessons from you.

  • Greetings from Malden Tony!

    Excellent work. Sounds absolutely stunning.

  • This is the most understandable vid on this tune I have seen. thx dude.

  • Wow this was the best rendition I have ever heard, great cover buddy.

  • Just amazing

  • Not only are you an awesome guitarist......You have great taste in rock music

  • This brings back every memory of when I first heard it - thank you

  • Killer Job!

  • brilliant job - I've been playing this for years and it sounds lousy compared to this. I did notice some different shapes at 1.54 which I'm going to try. I always tried to hit the top string with my pinky and could never do it well. Thanks a lot

  • A W E S O M E really perfect *THUMB UP*!!

  • It's only right to be sitting while playing this piece

  • Should have known about this when I was in Boston. I hope your perform.

  • Are you finger picking this ?

  • This song is in the tuning of DADGAD but half a step down to give it that tone. Page called it his CIA tuning (Celtic, Indian, Arabic)

  • my guitar is in DADGAD, but it sounds different, like a little higher. i think he's playing the tuning where in starts on C#

  • Best cover on youtube!

  • Very damn good !.. I saw Zeppelin April 15, 1977 and love the music...

  • good! very nice cover! amazing!

    i love play this song!

  • havent watched in a while. so good. makes my week. thx

  • You really nailed it. Thank you.

  • Gorgeous. What's the tuning for this?

  • @MrFarcry1966

It's DADGAD, the same as Kashmir.

  • You sir, just rocked that song. Awesome.

  • That was just an absolute masterclass. Wonderful.

I don't know whether to give up now or keep trying to play this one day.

  • @BlooJoose

Keep trying. You'll get it. thanks.

  • @BlooJoose Keep on going man. I used to think the intro to Little Wing was impossible, but i can do it now. It took me a whole week to learn and get right, but i kept on going.

  • @BlooJoose haha, probably give up now. Great way to express how some of these cover videos can get to another struggling guitar player. lol.

nah keep trying, and watch this video over and over! study it, youll get it.

  • yes,yes..the constant conundrum. quit or continue. The time vortext called the Guitar.

  • would love a lesson on this. well done

  • @thebluesrockers

If you live in the Boston area, I can give you a lesson. Contact me at tonyrclef @ gmail dot com if you're interested.

  • @troubleclef I wish i lived in Boston : (

  • Great version! Any chance you can do it again so we can see your right hand? Keep up the great posts...

  • GRoovi!!

and What About DAncong with the Moonlight Night:)

  • BE MY DADDY!!!

  • I was writing 'maybe the first of known humans was Ewan McCall', then I thought you are Troubleclef. And it's nice to know you're around. Thanks.

  • wow, great! If i listened to this on the radio, i'd think it's the original song by page! You rule :)

  • Beautiful cover!

  • nice job man!

  • Fantastique! Now to play it slowly about a hundred or so times.... ; ) Thanks.

  • You played that beautifully!

  • Do you think you can post a lesson for this song? or at least slow it down so I can learn it.

  • Excellent :-)

  • can you send me your tab for this song?

  • Awesome! I've been learning to play this but you make it look so effortless!

  • so badass!! lovin' it!! im just now setting down to try to play this..looks hard though, but lets do it..

  • this sounds like the version Paige did in the Yardbirds. Great job!

  • @frunk2007 the whole creative part of the songwriting and recording industry thrives on 'borrowing' or 'stealing' and has since the beginning. The first thing RobertJohnson (blues guitar legend) did was learn evryone elses style and licks from radio and jukes. However on the business side there is the question of "getting a credit' for sumone using your stuff.Maybe it was PeterGrants` idea to not credit Bert??Doubtful, since Jimmy produced evrything, but sumtimes the artist doesnt know.

  • awesome!

  • That was AMAZING!!

  • Excellent playing, and that Martin does sound sweeeeet

    Amy

  • wow, this song is hard to play, and you play it very well. Congrats !

  • Beautiful!

  • this video is totally inspiring....so i went out and learned to tune and added a simple celtic prelude... check it out...let me know what you black mtn. side fans think...just search matt reseigh.

  • my god that was amazing!! cud u pls upload a lesson on this song! i realyy want to learn it!! !

  • Fantastic.

  • Very very good, timing is very difficult on this one. You nailed it.

  • Very very nice my friend. The spirit lives on!!!

  • Badass

  • I am so envious of your guitar playing, how long have you been playing? I love Zeppelin but their music is so discouraging to try to play. I've only been playing for a little over a year, do you have any words of wisdom for an aspiring player?

  • So the tuning for the song is DADGAD but people usually play it a half-step lower..?

  • Wow, you really got it !!! Thanks man, my campfires will never be the same!!

  • @kenjeezy11 Thanks for noticing.

  • I'm bug eyed and speechless!! LOL Awesome!!

  • The tuning sounds half a step lower than DADGAD (C#G#C#F#G#C#).

Great job by the way, very nice.

  • that was fuking beautiful and is an inspiration to me! great job man!

  • Great job.

  • I wish I could see your left hand. Can I ask you to play this again showing your left hand? Thanks.

  • @waterhead001 He has no left hand. He plays by manipulating the air around the strings with his mind, causing the strings to vibrate. That's why he picks the strings with seemingly impossible precision.

  • @waterhead001 Correction: He does have a left hand. you can see it on the video. the hand I was previously talking about was his right hand.

  • Why didnt you activate star power

  • Beautiful!

  • I like this song. Your version is perfect. I hope I will be able to play this song one day.

  • Excellent energy with this old LZ classic

  • Great job dude! I enjoyed this!

  • Great job! I started playing the guitar about a year ago. I hope that one day I can learn this song.

  • Damn your good. Where did you get the tabs?

  • This is an incredible cover! I have the tabs but they are not much good. How about a paid video lesson? Contact me

  • Oops! Correction, Sandy Denny sang on "Battle of Evermore" not "Goin to California." She had a lovely voice.

  • yup and she does another version of the folk song "Blackwaterside", so it all ties in...somehow. :D

  • Thanks, I found Denny's version of BWS. I liked it but I'm partial to Briggs version. Altan, the Celtic band, also has a version. I believe it's the vibe that ties it all together. A vibe you've tapped into with your playing, I think. You inspire me to keep at it.

  • It looks to me like Bert Jansch used simple dropped D tuning in the video when he sings along on YT.

Cudos to Troubleclef for turning me on to Jansch, Briiggs, and Pentangle. I agree, without LZ, we wouldn't have heard of them. I believe it's Sandy Denny singing with Plant on "Going to California."

  • well i try not to get to ripped at the Jimmy cause without him i wouldn't ever have heard of Bert or Davy or Sandy Denny or any of those things i was first turned on to through LZ.

  • effin GREAT! Really beautiful.

  • greatt song... what's the tunning?

  • Open Dsus4

  • yeah, also known as DADGAD. here i'm playing the whole thing a halfstep flat cause i like how it sounds too

  • @troubleclef I think Page did to didn't he? you sound great on the piece

  • Tony I've listened to a lot of people trying to play this and your the best on utube anyway..They lack something, or try to play it to fancy and it doesn't work....

Lynn from Scotland (Still cold by the way)

  • I appreciate it, Lynn. cheers.
