  • I bought "return of the native" and turned it on in the car. I nearly crashed! I found out I can't listen to Alan Rickman while I'm driving; something in his voice hits some nerves deep in my brain that travels straight to my groin! WTF! LOL

  • @Samsis2 Its true. The man could read me my grocery list and it would still be utter bliss.

  • i love this and his voice make me feel a live.

  • where would i find the text form?

  • omg he kills me

  • mmmmmmm-mmmm so sexy!!!!!!!! DAAAAMNNNN

  • Does anyone know what exactly this piece is called? I would love to look it up !

  • @simj3000 a paper called l'intransigeant, 1922. the paper posed a question about how one's life might be changed if europe were threatened by a cataclysm doomed to wipe out hundreds of millions of people. this was proust's response

  • "Hello you've reached Alan Rickman at 5550122. Please leave a message after the tone."

"Hello Alan Rickman, it's me, Alan Rickman. Don't forget the turtle joke for the party. Huhurhur hurr.."

  • I like it so much... I´d like to have in my telefone as a morning-bell... Such an amazing moning started with Alan Rickman´s voice... :o) And... maybe, a great massage would change my life a bit... rule one: "today"... Thanks so much for posting.

  • what is the backgroung music????

  • dying for Allen's voice~~

  • Amazing voice and a great message!

  • beautiful! what is the background song? it is so haunting...

  • Die Hard.

  • wow!......without words...

    thanks for this video/ "soundvoice"!

  • Ohh! :) <3

  • Oh, it's simply wonderful <3 and completely true

  • merveilleux ...merçi ! :)

  • This is wonderful! Thanks for posting this.

  • simply wonderful!

  • For anyone wondering where this quote comes from, it's not from one of Proust's great works. In the early twenties, while working on In Search of Lost time, Proust sent this short piece of beauty into a magazine that asked its reader's opinions on how people would react if they found out the world was going to end.

  • amazing video, i like it

    Thank you

  • The voice, those lips, those words...splendid!

  • I clicked on this vid because it had Alan Rickman in the title but I listened to the full vid because of the wonderful words.... That was simply beautiful. Really made me think.

  • Oh, how I love this. Thank you so much for posting this video.

  • Where is the audio clip from?

  • Please someone correct me if I am wrong but this audio is from a film called 'Looking for my Brother"... The C.S Lewis audio clip is also from the film as well.

  • What is the music in this video's background. I loved it as much as I did the video itself...?

  • beautiful rendition. very sad though since Proust himself led a very unhappy and reclusive life

  • Great post!

  • over 1000 views.... Thank you. I hope from all these views, you all ARE living your life to its fullest potential.

Oh and having an oogle at Alan can't hurt either ;-)

  • oh crap, i'm grinning like an idiot again... love the video :D

  • Thank you so much for this, I felt every word of it.

  • Yes, A.R's voice does seem to have that affect on people.

In fact I just bought the audio version of "The Return of the Native"-Thomas Hardy and Alan's voice truly is 'the metatron'.

  • It's not only the voice, it's also the message. It's like Morpheus says in Matrix: "Stop trying to hit me and HIT me!". We should start thinking about living and start LIVING our lives.

  • errata: "We should stop thinking about living" :) Sorry

  • Thank you for that, I too feel the same way. I think apathy should no longer be in vogue.I am sure it would not be so, if not for the powerful thing called: fear. Another great thing Proust said which sums it up perfectly: "People wish to learn to swim and at the same time to keep one foot on the ground. "

  • If the cataclysm does not happen,I will still love my son more than my life and remain with him.

  • :-) Thank you kindly, glad to be of assistance

  • Thanks for posting this!!

  • wow... thanks!
