playing in a 3-4 D is more difficult for a middle linebacker because he only has a nose as opposed to 2 D tackles in a more traditional 4-3. ray lewis has played primarily in a 4-3 and played a lot of 46 defense bringing additional defender into the box making him more open to make plays without having to deal with the guards or center. Willis has to take on more blocking because of the scheme. willis has outperformed ray lewis even with that handicap

F.Gore is a beast and so is P.Willis but you arent giving the team the credit they deserve. We switched to a 3-4 defense just for P.Willis and F.Gore has gotten as many touches game situations allow. Both players just had career years and V.D just had a career year. Now even Smith might break out.
Eventually we're going to have a team full of young key players just entering their prime and will have good caps space to resign them. 2 first round draft picks in a deep draft and a new O-line coach. 49ers are sitting pretty with good opportunity to take over the NFC west next year. We only need a RT, WR/KR/PR, SS, and G. All positions we CAN fix with this upcoming draft.........
Scary part is, he hasnt even reached his full potential. 3 ALL PRO seasons and hes just getting started!!!

Scary part is, he hasnt even reached his full potential. 3 ALL PRO seasons and hes just getting started!!!
The 49ers defense is strong but if i were the Gm, i would use one of those 1st round picks trade up for E.Berry. Straight up. That move alone would help push the 49ers over the top.

Willis will, when he retires, go down as one of the greatest LB to ever play .. there's no doubt in my mind, he's fast and a tackling machine.
Ray Lewis is amazing, and has proven his worth to the Ravens, leading them to a Superbowl. Lewis has stamped his legacy into the NFL as arguably the best LB to ever play it.
It too bad people forget about the Tackling Machine London Fletcher, another great LB .. or LT ..
In the end they are ALL great LB's, and it's been fun to watch.

In those 3 seasons patrick willis has lead the league in tackles twice been an all-pro twice and made the pro bowl 3 times.
It's safe to say that patrick willis is currently better than ray lewis currently is and it's safe to say that year for year patrick willis is dominating him.

@dtking19 tackles are an overrated stat, their not accurate and depending on the scheme and other talent around you change, however i do believe that willis is the best LB in the league and will be for some time. willis is always around the ball, and when he arrives the ball carrier feels it, he works his ass off, and is a natural leader. the best LB to enter the nfl since ray lewis and has the potential to be the best ever.

@dtking19 Don't get ahead of yourself. Ray Lewis isn't just a good football player he is a team leader... He leads the Ravens D its the reason the Ravens D is always in the top 5 when was the last time 49ers was in the top 5? Since 2000 season Ravens have been in the top 5 if not first 8 times.... 49'ers 0 times in the top 5 in the probably past 15+ years. It isn't how many tackles you got, ITS WHEN YOU MAKE THEM THAT COUNTS.

@SuRihtanil when was the last time you saw peyton manning held down to 0 td's in a game where he played all 4 quarters? red zone top 3. points allowed top 5. run top 3. pass D in the better half of the league. top 3 in sacks. pit has had the best D on a few occasions with a lackluster pass D. and no willis hasnt had the accolades that ray does in 3 seasons vs ray's 15 seasons. nor should he. let the dude have a career or compare apples to apples, like lewis' first 3 seasons vs willis 3 season

New England Pats also beat the Colts in 2009, 38-0 seems there is another time, but I can't recall it will probably come to me later. BUT encase you been missing football lately due to making crazy posts on here. The Colts just got fucking tanked by the packers last week. Packers beat them 59-24 LOL so breaking Peyton and completely destroying the Colts is something that happens sometimes.

However the Ravens D led by Ray has been in the top 5 come end of the regular season when the numbers don't lie at least 7 times in the past 10 years. I can't recall the 49ers being in the top 10def in the past 15 years. Like I told the other guy don't get ahead of yourself because Ray is still the man, and Willis has alot of catching up to do before he can say he is better all around than Ray Lewis.

@SuRihtanil Did willis have, tony siragusa, sam adams, chris mcalister, peter bowlare, terrell suggs, jaime sharper, bart scott, ED REED samari rolle, trevir pryce, haloti ngta, no as a player compared to another player, patrick is better, hes faster, better in coverage, and the dude dosnt miss tackles, hes better at getting to the quarterback too.

Also Ray Lewis has been with them since 1996 he is the only one left, he has stayed and say has them being one of the greatest defenses. There is no i in team, Ray Lewis leads the defense hands down, the Ravens D has been back to back top 5. I am sorry but without Ray Lewis the defense of the Ravens would not be playing on the level they have been with him as leader.

without a good leader no one can win that's proven, when Ray Lewis retires I know the Ravens D will lose the edge they have currently, he is loud, crazy and just what the doctor calls for as a ILB he fits the bill and comes through just when he is needed the most and of course thats why he has been D player of the year 2x and a superbowl MVP and I almost expect to see Ravens in this coming SB
