  • Nasim is sooooo fine.

  • ubergay!

  • Nasim is sooooo talented!! I'd like to meet her! Im iranian.

  • It became a tired 'cliche' to hear too many repeat the complaint "SNL is not as good as it was in the 70's".

Really, that was a 'golden age' as it was brand new and a social phenom,

    but,

    the mid-90s were absolutely amazing,

    but,

SNL is back in business after Tina Fey left and really some strong shows lately.

Agree - that episode was one of the best and may I say I think Fred Armisen is absolutely brilliant and sadly under-rated.

  • Well said! I agree totally!

  • Why is it so important what race people are?

  • nasim=token

  • oh ya totally!! if theyre not WHITE then theyre token, no questions asked

  • I believe Nasim Pedrad is the first SNL cast member of any Asian ethnicity... and an Iranian, at that! The times are a-changin'... could it probably be the momentum from #iranelection on Twitter?

  • I (partly) retract my comment earlier... Fred Armisen (the guy who plays Barack Obama) is a quarter-Japanese, and Rob Schneider is a quarter-Filipino... but that makes Nasim Pedrad SNL's 1st fully-Asian cast member! Congrats!

  • Why do you care, people that talk about race as an identity or are losers and closeted racists.

  • I don't believe folks from the middle-east are considered to be Asian. The region bridges Asia, Africa and Europe but is not considered to be within any of their boundaries. Its cool to have an Iranian American in the cast though.

  • Well, as an Iranian the first time I heard from someone that because I'm in a place called Middle-East I'm not Asian was when I came to the United States. To the rest of the world from West Turkey to the east is Asia, Iranians are as Asian as Chinese & Middle-east is just western Asia. Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq, afghanistan, India, most of Russia are all in Asia.

Nasim is cute isn't she :)

Loved the part where she says "Stop smiling nobody likes you."

    Nasim means "breeze" in Farsi.

  • Its Asia. Its always been Asia. You can easily pick off ignorant people by the way they use "Middle Eastern" to refer to Iranians.

Unfortunately, all of your so-called entertainment and news media are controlled by jews and christian neo-con retards who have misinformed and mixed up the facts to advance their stupid political agendas. Although Hesam's use of the "Farsi" in lieu of Persian reveals some ignorance as well :)

  • no you racist fuck, they hired Nasim not because she's Iranian, they hired her because she's funny. Fuck you.

  • sometimes, no accomplishments is better than having them. Gridlock is not all bad.

  • I am glad people are starting to speak out against Obama from the left. THis time it's REAL criticism with real concerns. Not that obvious to anybody with common sense racism from the idiot teabaggers, etc.

Obama seems to be acting like typical Dems who make a lot of promises then their backbones turn to spaghetti once in office.

And no the parody wasnt 100% factual but it was close enough. Obama hasnt fulfilled his promises. We'll know where he really stands after the Health Care fight.

  • SNL is OK sometimes ... but can't ever be compare with "In Living Colors" which had to equal or to "Mad TV."

  • It really angers me that Darrel Hamond is still shown in the little info box on my tv, but they dont announce his name at the beginning, and yet he is still doing sketches, kinda sucks.....

  • man, title this "My own douchebag commentary about SNL" This title sucks, I wanted to see SNL, not some guy talking about it, goddamn you youtube, I'm going to just cancel my account.

  • First, no one uses the term "douche-bag" anymore outside of the sixth grade. Second, NBC will not allow their material to be posted on YouTube, which is why I provided links to the sketches over to the side. So quit whining.

  • Sorry Britey, I was an avid fan in the 70's and 80's and I have not seen a single episode that has made me actually laugh since Eddie Murphy left.

And right leaning tenor of the show really makes me wonder what is going on there. In the 70's nothing was taboo, now they seem more flacid and in-line with the powers that be.

I guess being owned by GE has it's downsides.

  • I think John McCain might differ with you about the show having a "right leaning tenor."

  • i could not agree moree

  • Nothing personal Mr. SNL..cheerleader guy... but your videos come across as someone who is desperately trying to convince us that SNL is funny. Back in the 70s and 80s...noone had to convince us that it was funny and/or insightful at times. To be honest, I loved SNL...I stopped watching when I noticed I wasn't laughing. Your infomercial like review isn't going to change a thing. Maybe it's the writers, maybe its the actors..I don't really know...but you "ad" sure isn't helping to convince anyone

  • Thanks for watching, Mr. SNL Crabbypants guy. Too bad that Will Ferrell, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were so bad that they just faded away into obscurity.

  • I concede that Farrell's impressions of Bush were hilarious...and Fey was ok, not much of a fan of hers. They have both moved on and thats great and all...but you see...thats the problem...anytime someone is THAT good...SNL loses them. The difference is the show is just not that funny anymore. Sorry for being Mr. Crabbypants, I hate to be a downer...I was just giving youmy hoenst opinion. On the bright side...you have a nice face and voice for TV. Very likable. Anyway, peace to you new friend.

  • Yeah that is why they are still doing shows and specials. I don't like Fey or Poehler all that much, but Ferrell was great on SNL. Poehler was better on Upright Citizens Brigade. Compared to the amount of funny content in the older seasons, yeah SNL is withering and fading away into the obscurity you think Ferrell, Fey and Poehler are now. Opinions are just that though, opinions. Most of the reason why I don't listen to critics most of the time.

  • Really? 2/3 of britehorn's SNL reviews I've come across were harshly critical. I don't see how he can be construed as a shill.

  • SNL had been getting kinda weak, but it definitely came back with this episode - great job, man! Question though...I wonder where those action-figures went...that Bill Clinton clip with him sayin' "all she did was look at me like i's stupid..." - HILARIOUS! i miss those things LOL! :D

  • Thanks. I miss the action figure videos as well, but my main Voice Over actor, Chip Bradley, moved back to South Carolina which makes it a lot harder to work on those films. But, if I get the right story and the stars are aligned. . . .

  • I really did like this episode, In her last performence, Gaga connected with the audience. While they cheered her on, she cheered them on.

  • Exactly!

  • a couple of things:

    1. isn't it ironic that Nasim was playing President Ahmadinejad's wafe, and she was born in Iran? I think so

    2. I really liked Lady Gaga's performance at the end...i would so get it on my ipod.

    3. (about the last scetch)- YAY!!! ANDY'S STILL ON THE MARKET!!!!!

  • Nasim proved with one sketch that she belongs on the show. Very, very impressive!

  • yea...it was :) i wanna see more of her!

  • Did not care for the intro.

Can not stand Lady Gaga. Did not enjoy her performance at all.

Loved the Weekend Update segment, though.

  • the Obama skit wasn't funny... more like sad... that it takes a podium such as SNL to help wake people up... but the other skit was decent...

I can't stand lady gag-me... although I heard his lip syncing skills are top notch... right up there with Hot Coco... the drag queen from Mississippi singing Stop! in the name of love...

  • The Weekend Update bit With Mr and Mrs Ahmadinejad was worth the price of admission! If that one doesn't make you laugh, seek help immediately! Your sense of humor has a tumor!

  • wow, i'm glad they hit a home run! I am going to eat lunch and then i'll check it out! these vids are great britethorn, very good information and insight.

  • boycott nike !! they have endorsed mike vick!!!! who for fun likes to slam dogs into cement wall until dead. and much more

  • SNL is like NFL, no one outside of America either knows about it or cares about it.

  • For the record, I watched every episode for the last 3 seasons and I'm Canadian.

  • Isn't that the only other country that has helmetball teams? I rest my case ;)

  • I agree with you on the cold open. That was quite good.

I'm not a fan of Lady Gaga, but I applaud her success and her success on SNL.

Overall, I felt that the episode was an improvement from the season premiere, but it was still lacking a bit.

  • I always hate the live performances. I'll be waiting to watch it when its posted, seeing as how you gave it such great reviews! :)

  • i can't watch the damn links you posted from NBC's site beacuase i live in australia =( but i'm sure it was a good show

  • I did not like the opening monolouge at all. While they can make fun of the POTUS, I think picking the huge issues Obama is trying to solve quickly is disengenous. Would have been better for him to skewer the Senate and no back bone Congress and the stupid ConservaDems that are standing in the way.

  • lol,...maybe they were appealing to the majority of the Country who is against the public option but for health care reform that addresses tort....maybe just maybe SNL has figured out that their ratings might be better if they appeal to more viewers than the far left like you....

  • Every poll I've heard about lately says that more than 60% of the country is in favor of a Public Option.

  • Doesn't look like you have been seriously looking at any polls my friend. The Country has a strong majority aginst the public option. Most Americans want reform ( maybe that is what you are thinking) however they don't support the public option. Why do you think the "nuclear option" is being considered by Pelosi and Reid? They don't have enough party support due to fears of 2010 election. My point

  • did they do a wolverine gag?

  • Great vid, as always..

  • Another spot on review. I too thought the show was much improved this week. Still some rough spots, but all in all a very promising comeback.

  • My wife watched the whole show tonight, which is about as good a review as they could ask for!

  • Get a job, douche.
