The 241-11 is an old 40's-50's work horse that you need special needles for.
1128,88x1,44x3,DAX1,DAX9,SY1315,SY1361 are some that should work.
You will have to do your research on line and buy some and try it out. I looked at the manual quickly and it says you need 88X1. Google that and 1128 comes up. Enjoy your new hobby. I know you will figure it out because you got this far.
Sir, I have a Singer 241-11. For some reason my 241-11 doesn't like Schmetz needle 90/14. The need seems to be too short. I am teaching myself how to use this machine. At 58 years old, I should already know how to sew, but I am just learning. I got the machine at a great bargin and really want to learn. Can you give any advice?
HI! I have the exact machine! How do I find out it's date of Manufacturing? Also do you know of a way to reverse it for stitch sealing? Or was there another method back then of securing the end and starts?
Serial Number under the Gold Badge will tell you the date it was sanctioned for a production run. Most people use this as the date. The serial number was put in when the machine was cast. It may have been several months before it was finished. There is a web site that has all that information. Raising the stitch length lever past mid point will run stitching in reverse. The Singer Website is full of information. It is just hard to find.
