  • I love the band! I love the song!

  • I want her hair . . . Not sure if I would attract ladies or men?

  • wow this live version is magical *_*

  • I remember such a depressing time I was in the first time I herad this song... ♪♫ ... and the bitterness I felt realize that love flows ♪♫

  • Perfect both Sound and Performance.

  • the only problem with this band is that they are not coming together and recording songs more frequently.

  • Trancendental loveliness...

  • Will I follow?

  • 0:00

  • i think its kindov funny how they make playing such an easy song so difficult! nice "can" drum sound and a lovely synth riff

  • Stunning song, perfect in every sense of the word.

  • Silently gorgeous

  • What a amazing band! Thank you for uploading. I missed the show in Montreal (grr!). I'm a musician and i just recorded my own version of «Roads» by Portishead. I think It's pretty different with male vocals. You can hear it on my Youtube. Have a good day!

  • X-Factor who???

  • The song reminds me of a difficult time in my life. Still get chills down my spine when I here this one

  • Anybody else get reminded of this song after seeing the new Charlie Brooker show advert for Black mirror??

Can't believe I'd forgotten about this gorgeous track!

  • LOVE THIS. THANKS FOR POSTING.

  • FANTASTICI!

  • Good Lord. Thank you for Beth, Adrian and Geoff. Thank you for that Bristol sound we call trip-hop.

  • mañana corona capital ¡¡¡¡¡fuck yeah¡¡¡¡¡

  • I don't know why this song is more beautiful listening day by day ...something of special is hide inside this artistic music

  • tthhank you porthtihshead and ttheir new album, the rurr jurr

  • one of the most beautiful songs ever written

  • woah!@

  • Thom Yorke's vocal is just awful. He makes Radiohead unlistenable when the vocals kick in.

  • in less than a month, i get to see them and with any luck, they'll perform this song. i can't even begin to imagine what seeing this live will feel like, but i am certainly looking forward to it. love love love this song.

  • @chicananerdcm Sound Academy? I can't imagine what it'll be like for this sound to wash over me and surround me, caged in by bodies. Ready and willing for the unforgettable.

  • @PanoplyCabaret no, i'm seeing them at The Shrine in Los Angeles. i anticipate it being amazing.

  • Ojalá no muera sin escucharlos en vivo.

  • She makes love to that microphone. Damn it, I think I love Beth Gibbons.

  • The TRip

  • joder

  • how can radiohead version be better this is portishead original song how can any one who copies anything be better. That makes no sense at all

  • @royalnaz1 Dude look at the song "Don't let me be misunderstood", the latest version is the product of the previous two versions and I think the best one is the most reason. How can you say a song cover is always bad?

  • with respect for how great this song is. radiohead version is better

  • @elurseeknay No, it's not. And I love Radiohead probably more than I love Portishead.

  • 16 fans of justin bieber misclicked?

  • this song makes me feel sooo high!

  • Everyone who loves this song should also check out

    Massive Attack - Paradise Circus

    It's just as great!

  • 16 people are souless.

  • @SrbskyKral /watch?v=iUkgUaKD188 :D

  • @SrbskyKral 20 :( they sold their soul for Lady Gaga's cd...

  • @karlkrieger What do you mean?

  • @karlkrieger what are you talking about??

  • @SrbskyKral or deaf! and there are 5 more now!

  • @SrbskyKral make 21

  • The Fart. lol.

  • Tears in my eyes, everytime I hear this song... so sensitive, so beautliful.

The keyboard gives me a heavy flashback of early '70s Kraftwerk music, though, but in a way that it can be considered a glorious tribute.

  • 16 people are evil.

  • they ought to eliminate the ability to leave comments on youtube altogether.

  • i don't know why but this song is making me cry right now

  • Enchanting

  • Hermoso

  • this gives me jillz...

  • hypnotic!

  • @Pwnzor729 he´s the same ;)

  • Bliss...pure bliss!

  • Is that Clive Deamer playing drums? He looks a lot like the other percussionist that was playing with Radiohead from the new Basement session.

  • @Pwnzor729 it is. Radiohead sort of borrowed him :D

  • I like White Lies cover of this song, the Henry´s voice is much better for this¡¡¡

  • @joshBEMI89 white lies is a fuckin new band idiot...dont compare Portishead with White Lies u dumbass!

  • @SIMONDUKEN Dumbass, he can definitely compare the two when White Lies performed a cover of the song. White Lies may not be as good, but that certainly doesn't make joshie boy down here a dumbass.

  • Такие песни нельзя писать.

  • this is the most beautiful thing i ever heard.

  • The drums ruin it for me

  • I love the shit out of this song. I've loved everything Portishead ever did, but this song is simply transcendent.

  • To see Portishead performing live... is to stay just one step on front of heaven!

  • MARAVILLOSO!

  • Beth is the most amazing, most perfect singer i've ever seen.

this one made tears in my eyes.

  • I keep telling all my friends in bands they should get Moog synths just to play one note and play with the modulator knob throughout their songs but they tell me it's a waste of money! What do they know?!?

  • Radiohead need a woman. She is so awesome here!

  • Any song that Radiohead covered can't be bad. This is incredible.

  • check out our cover version of The Rip featuring Betty Lenard!

  • This is my "Band of all Bands". If any of you are interested, at all......hmm hmm. They poke all my buttons, so to speak!

  • perfect

  • its much more better than other upload. thanks.

  • Even Radiohead Covers this Song..

  • @BajuriProduction Radiohead are massive fans of Portishead

  • @69zemaria i have this feeling already... even now they tagged Clive on their KOL From Basement show

  • @BajuriProduction yeah I saw that! I was really thrilled when I discovered that, I mean, how awesome is that?

  • If they had any balls they would have kept the DJ. Even though it ain't hip anymore.

  • @Neweddy24 ... "the dj" is still there. his name is geoff and he's talented enough to play more than just the turntables.

  • @Neweddy24 Geoff Barrow is the DJ you are mentioning and he is not only a DJ, he also plays Drums, Percussion, Rhodes Piano, Programmer, Synthesizer, Hammond Organ, Sampler, Bass Guitar, Kazoo and DJ's when needed in the song. This song didn't need it so he didn't DJ. You obviously know nothing of Portishead and are just criticizing for the sake of it. Grow up or do your homework.

  • Portishead es el extasis total

  • This is in my opinion one of the best songs ever written!

  • portishead is my drugs.

  • Lovely!!!

  • i think i love this breakable voice <3

  • mmm beth gibbons voice.....*humps sound waves furiously*

  • brilliant

  • Un brano emozionante sempre...bellissima la sua presenza nel film di wenders...

  • I'm crying...

  • deBarnik, I don't agree...in this song, everything's perfect, but in many songs of the last album, often Beth is just moaning. The music changed but she didn't.

It's still a great record anyway.

  • kraftwerk via nick drake. i didn't think it was possible til i heard this song.

  • This reminds me a LOT of the other album Beth did with Rustin Mann...all strange jazz-inspired folk sort of music...very cool...

  • 15 persons dislike. Why? Why? This is very very great song.

  • 15 persons dislike. Why? Why? This is very very great song.

  • The Rip = TRIP

  • I think main problem with Portishead is that the most is just Beth... she's perfect, but sometimes (not always) some arrangements are just not at her level...

Anyway that's not the case, awesome song...

  • give Beth Gibbons a hug.

  • @mobofg

That is it exactly... The feeling I search for as well. There is a deeply seated passion you can't deny. I will listen to your music

    Juls

  • @mobofg early 90s just to correct ya, cuz on the 90s we had crappy stuff like britney spears, ricky martin and all the boy bands.

  • @mobofg this was released mid-2008. i think the 'noughties' will find their rightful place once we look back at them

  • @mobofg Every decade has its good and bad.

  • from kate bush to wu-tang, i thhink everyone should approach there musical taste's with no fear, that's what i've always tried to do, too many people are afraid to admit they like certain things cos it doesn't fit in with thier social group and the're afraid to be made fun of, all genre's of music have amazing things to offer aswell as terrible.

  • @mobofg Real music with feeling is being made at every moment, this one included. If you don't go looking for it, and merely wait for someone to bring it to you, then the problem cannot be helped, because all you'll get is product.

  • @mobofg no offence, but you're talking shit. there are plenty of brilliant bands around at the moment, just because they're not in the charts doesn't mean they don't exist.

  • This song is totally about farting. Right? The Rip.

  • @MillaHead Grow up.

  • @Novasio you can? I do.

  • I even know Geoff Barrow from Portishead. He's on twitter @jetfury

    I love this song.

  • If we talking about perfect music, lyrics, vocals, emotion, well this is the set.

  • ...another lie was over....

  • To Die For.

  • f***k off MillaHead if you dont like the song or the band just dont hear it you piss of s***

  • Comment removed

  • comovente.

  • simply beautiful!

  • This would be the best accompanying music for a film ever...

  • Lol, whats the deal here. Its just some gay woman crying all the time.

  • FUCKING MIND-BLOWING!

  • oh merci ,une belle video et en plus postée par qqun qui aimerait pjh.. arvey ? tout comme moi quoi !!!! ;opp

  • Essencial!

  • i love this hit so fucking much DAMN

  • looks like a scene from Tron!

  • She's real into her shit. Gotta respect that.

  • as good live as they are on disc, genius.

  • Vraiment de grands musiciens Portishead!

  • The Rip is about farting.

  • @MillaHead ?!?! if you're kiddin You are stupid..if you're serious then You need to reboot Your life...

  • @The51days

what? what the fuck did I say? The set looks like a scene from Tron dickhead. I love Portishead so fuck off.

  • @MillaHead WHAT did You said?!?!?! if I neglect your comment that this song is about farting, if i ignore that as I said-you're stupid, or... WAIT!!!... why am I wasting my time? I will listen to you and instead of fucking off, I'll fuck someone (as I have somebody to fuck), unlike you ... and my final answer to You is "FART OFF" :)

  • Bellezza di la' delle parole!

  • great song!!!!!!!!!!!

  • outstanding

  • i love this song ... and her voice ... sorry babe ji ji

  • I am crying. May I cry?

  • @Okuda of course... besides it is theraputic

  • @Okuda Yes you may, but do you really need to share it ? It's alright to be Emo just don't push it in my face please.

  • @LeeJody So, people crying during funerals are also emo? C'mon, gimme a break! Humans have a broad diversity of emotions, and sometimes (very few times, actually) I can break in tears. This song is so powerful that gives me goose bumps... so powerful that some months ago it moved me to tears. If you hate people with feelings, then lock yourself in your stoic-mind

  • @Okuda I once got a boner at a funeral. Just saying. It's all human nature after all. I went on to avoid the girl who was holding my arm and crying on my shoulder at that moment.

  • @Okuda Can't find my old comment so don't know what I said, I think it was about how people shout about it when this song makes them cry. It's fine if people get emotional while listening to songs, we all do it, including me.

There's no need to tell the world though, and I think a lot of it is attention seeking, it's like getting emotional to 'cool & underground' bands like Portishead makes them seem deep or something.

    Portishead are pretty boring anyway.

  • @Okuda I'm crying everytime.

  • @Okuda Man up!

  • @Okuda yes you may cry...are you still crying? cause i am

  • @Okuda yes, you may :0) Its so amazing.

  • i feel lucky to have found Portishead and Beth. lots of good stuff did not get played in US that i knew about.

  • fantasztikus!

  • I think it needs to have a certain personality to appreciate a band like them..

I think it means to be lucky in a sense..

  • i choose this song to play on my dad funeral... he died on september 25 this year. and this song, after funeral, is still awesome
